Psalm 77:3

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

The Almighty's arrows are in me. My spirit drinks in their poison. God's terrors set themselves against me.

Therefore, I would be dismayed at his presence. I stand in awe of him.

I was in terror of destruction from God and I could not face his majesty.

Do not cause me fear and anxiety. For you are my refuge in the day of disaster.

I am filled with troubles, and my life comes closer to the grave.

My days have been consumed in smoke, and my bones have been scorched like a hearth.

I will not keep from speaking. I must express my anguish. I must complain in my bitterness.

Peace has been removed far away from me. I do not remember what good is.

My heart is in turmoil within me. The terrors of death have seized me.

In despair and far from home I call to you! Take me to the rock that is my safe refuge,

I pour out my complaints in his presence and tell him my troubles.

Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me. My heart is devastated within me.

If I say: 'I will forget my complaint, I will put off my sad face and wear a smile,

Therefore, I would be dismayed at his presence. I stand in awe of him.

My troubles have increased. Relieve my troubled heart, and bring me out of my distress.
