To thee, O LORD, I will call. My rock, be not thou deaf to me, lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like those who go down into the pit.
Thou have seen it, O LORD. Keep not silence. O LORD, be not far from me.
Awake, why do thou sleep, O LORD? Arise, cast not off forever.
Our God comes, and does not keep silence. A fire devours before him, and it is very tempestuous round about him.
Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise,
I have for a long time held my peace. I have been still, and refrained myself. [Now] I will cry out like a travailing woman. I will gasp and pant together.
Will thou restrain thyself for these things, O LORD? Will thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very severely?
