Jehovah, please make me to know my end. What is the extent of my days? Let me know how temporary (frail) (destitute) I am.

They fail to see why they were defeated. They cannot understand what happened.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, where you are going.

Gird your loins (strengthen yourselves) and light your lamps.

We must work the works of him that sent me while it is day. When the night comes no man can work.

Make the most of your time (redeem or ransom back time), because the days are evil.

To man he said: 'Respect for Jehovah is wisdom! To stay away from evil is understanding.'

Pay close attention to wisdom, and let your [mind and] heart (inner being) reach for discernment.

How blessed is the man who finds wisdom. Happy is the man who gains understanding.

Achieve wisdom and understanding! Do not forget or ignore what I say.

My son, pay attention to my words, and preserve my commandments within you.

Listen to me, my children: for blessed are those who practice my ways.

How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding instead of silver!

A man of solitude (who keeps to himself) (isolates himself) seeks his own (selfish) desire. He objects to sound wisdom.

Incline your ear and listen to the words of the wise. Apply your heart and mind to my knowledge.

Apply your heart to instruction (discipline), and your ears to words of knowledge.
