The Woman And Her Son Versus The Dragon

1 And a great marvel was seen in Heaven-- a woman who was robed with the sun and had the moon under her feet, and had also a wreath of stars round her head, was with child,

1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

1 A great (A)sign appeared (B)in heaven: (C)a woman (D)clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars;

1 A great sign(a) appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of 12 stars on her head.(A)

1 A spectacular sign appeared in the sky: a woman dressed with the sun, who had the moon under her feet and a victor's crown of twelve stars on her head.

2 and she was crying out in the pains and agony of childbirth.

2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

2 and she was with child; and she *(E)cried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth.

2 She was pregnant and cried out in labor and agony as she was about to give birth.

2 She was pregnant and was crying out from her labor pains, the agony of giving birth.

3 And another marvel was seen in Heaven--a great fiery-red Dragon, with seven heads and ten horns; and on his heads were seven kingly crowns.

3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

3 Then (F)another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red (G)dragon having (H)seven heads and (I)ten horns, and on his heads were (J)seven diadems.

3 Then another sign(b) appeared in heaven: There was a great fiery red dragon having seven heads and 10 horns,(B) and on his heads were seven diadems.(c)

3 Then another sign appeared in the sky: a huge red dragon with seven heads, ten horns, and seven royal crowns on its heads.

4 His tail was drawing after it a third part of the stars of Heaven, and it dashed them to the ground. And in front of the woman who was about to become a mother, the Dragon was standing in order to devour the child as soon as it was born.

4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

4 And his tail *swept away a (K)third of the stars of heaven and (L)threw them to the earth. And the (M)dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth (N)he might devour her child.

4 His tail swept away a third of the stars in heaven and hurled them to the earth.(C) And the dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she did give birth he might devour her child.

4 Its tail swept away one-third of the stars in the sky and knocked them down to the earth. Then the dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth so that it could devour her child when it was born.

5 She gave birth to a son--a male child, destined before long to rule all nations with an iron scepter. But her child was caught up to God and His throne,

5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

5 And (O)she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to (a)(P)rule all the (b)nations with a rod of iron; and her child was (Q)caught up to God and to His throne.

5 But she gave birth to a Son—a male who is going to shepherd(d) all nations with an iron scepter(D)—and her child was caught up to God and to His throne.

5 She gave birth to a son, a boy, who is to rule all the nations with an iron scepter. But her child was snatched away and taken to God and to his throne.

6 and the woman fled into the Desert, there to be cared for, for 1,260 days, in a place which God had prepared for her.

6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she *had a place prepared by God, so that there (c)she would be nourished for (R)one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

6 The woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared by God,(E) to be fed there(e) for 1,260 days.(F)

6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where a place had been prepared for her by God so that she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.

Satan Thrown Down From Heaven To Earth

7 And war broke out in Heaven, Michael and his angels engaging in battle with the Dragon.

7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

7 And there was war in heaven, (S)Michael and his angels waging war with the (T)dragon. The dragon and (U)his angels waged war,

7 Then war broke out in heaven: Michael(G) and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels also fought,

7 Then a war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels fought back.

8 The Dragon fought and so did his angels; but they were defeated, and there was no longer any room found for them in Heaven.

8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

8 and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven.

8 but he could not prevail, and there was no place for them in heaven any longer.

8 But it was not strong enough, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.

9 The great Dragon, the ancient serpent, he who is called 'the Devil' and 'the Adversary' and leads the whole earth astray, was hurled down: he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

9 And the great (V)dragon was thrown down, the (W)serpent of old who is called the devil and (X)Satan, who (Y)deceives the whole (d)world; he was (Z)thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

9 So the great dragon was thrown out—the ancient serpent,(H) who is called the Devil(f) and Satan,(g)(I) the one who deceives the whole world.(J) He was thrown to earth, and his angels with him.

9 The huge dragon was hurled down. That ancient serpent, called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world, was hurled down to the earth, along with its angels.

10 Then I heard a loud voice speaking in Heaven. It said, "The salvation and the power and the Kingdom of our God have now come, and the sovereignty of His Christ; for the accuser of our brethren has been hurled down--he who, day after day and night after night, was wont to accuse them in the presence of God.

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

10 Then I heard (AA)a loud voice in heaven, saying,“Now the (AB)salvation, and the power, and the (AC)kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the (AD)accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night.

10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:The salvation and the powerand the kingdom of our Godand the authority of His Messiahhave now come, because the accuser(K) of our brothershas been thrown out:the one who accuses thembefore our God day and night.

10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say, "Now the salvation, the power, the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah have come. For the one who accuses our brothers, who accuses them day and night in the presence of our God, has been thrown out.

11 But they have gained the victory over him because of the blood of the Lamb and of the testimony which they have borne, and because they held their lives cheap and did not shrink even from death.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

11 And they (AE)overcame him because of (AF)the blood of the Lamb and because of (AG)the word of their testimony, and they (AH)did not love their life even (e)when faced with death.

11 They conquered himby the blood of the Lamband by the word of their testimony, for they did not love their livesin the face of death.(L)

11 Our brothers conquered him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not cling to their lives even in the face of death.

12 For this reason be glad, O Heaven, and you who live in Heaven! Alas for the earth and the sea! For the Devil has come down to you; full of fierce anger, because he knows that his appointed time is short."

12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

12 For this reason, (AI)rejoice, O heavens and (AJ)you who (f)dwell in them. (AK)Woe to the earth and the sea, because (AL)the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only (AM)a short time.”

12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens, and you who dwell in them!Woe to the earth and the sea,for the Devil has come down to youwith great fury, because he knows he has a short time.

12 So be glad, heavens, and those who live in them! How terrible it is for the earth and the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, filled with rage, knowing that his time is short!"

The Woman Persecuted

13 And when the Dragon saw that he was hurled down to the earth, he went in pursuit of the woman who had given birth to the male child.

13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

13 And when the (AN)dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted (AO)the woman who gave birth to the male child.

13 When the dragon saw that he had been thrown to earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child.

13 When the dragon saw that it had been thrown down to the earth, it pursued the woman who had given birth to the boy.

14 Then, the two wings of a great eagle were given to the woman to enable her to fly away into the Desert to the place assigned her, there to be cared for, for a period of time, two periods of time, and half a period of time, beyond the reach of the serpent.

14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

14 But the (AP)two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly (AQ)into the wilderness to her place, where she *was nourished for (AR)a time and times and half a time, from the (g)presence of the serpent.

14 The woman was given two wings of a great eagle, so that she could fly from the serpent’s presence to her place in the wilderness, where she was fed for a time, times, and half a time.(h)(M)

14 However, the woman was given the two wings of a large eagle so that she could fly away from the serpent to her place in the wilderness, where she could be taken care of for a time, times, and half a time.

15 And the serpent poured water from his mouth--a very river it seemed--after the woman, in the hope that she would be carried away by its flood.

15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

15 And the (AS)serpent (h)poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood.

15 From his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river flowing after the woman, to sweep her away in a torrent.

15 From its mouth the serpent spewed water like a river behind the woman in order to sweep her away with the flood.

16 But the earth came to the woman's help: it opened its mouth and drank up the river which the Dragon had poured from his mouth.

16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

16 (i)But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon (j)poured out of his mouth.

16 But the earth helped the woman. The earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the river that the dragon had spewed from his mouth.

16 But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed from its mouth.

17 This made the Dragon furiously angry with the woman, and he went elsewhere to make war upon her other children--those who keep God's commandments and hold fast to the testimony of Jesus.

17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to (AT)make war with the rest of her (k)(AU)children, who (AV)keep the commandments of God and (AW)hold to the testimony of Jesus.

17 So the dragon was furious with the woman and left to wage war(N) against the rest of her offspring(i)—those who keep God’s commands and have the testimony about Jesus.(O)

17 The dragon became angry with the woman and went away to do battle against the rest of her children, the ones who keep God's commandments and hold on to the testimony about Jesus.
