So, brothers, we are under obligations, but not to our lower nature to live by the standard set by it;

Stop owing anybody anything, except the obligation to love one another, for whoever practices loving others has perfectly satisfied the law.

For the Scripture says: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the learning of the learned."

These truths we are setting forth, not in words that man's wisdom teaches but in words that the Spirit teaches, in this way fitting spiritual words to spiritual truths.

Let no one deceive himself. If any one of you supposes that he is wise in this world's wisdom, as compared with the rest of you, to become really wise he must become a fool.

Indeed, I do not dare to count or compare myself with certain men who are always recommending themselves. But they do not show good sense, because they do continue measuring themselves with one another and comparing themselves with one another.

For you who are so wise yourselves are glad to listen to fools!

So you must be very careful how you live, not thoughtlessly but thoughtfully,

The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of compassion and good deeds, free from doubts and insincerity.

To the unwise

how is the man who occupies the place of the illiterate to say "Amen" to your thanksgiving? For he does not know what you are saying.

For once we too were without understanding, disobedient, misled, habitual slaves to all sorts of passions and pleasures, spending our lives in malice and envy.
