I speak

But if our unrighteousness highlights God’s righteousness, what are we to say? I use a human argument:

Is God unrighteous to inflict wrath?

Am I saying this from a human perspective? Doesn’t the law also say the same thing?

If I fought wild animals in Ephesus with only human hope, what good did that do me?

If the dead are not raised, Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.

Brothers, I’m using a human illustration. No one sets aside or makes additions to even a human covenant that has been ratified.

Because

In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us

with unspoken groanings.

Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not to please ourselves.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin.

For as ye

And do not offer any parts of it to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness.

And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler who exercises authority over the lower heavens,

Therefore, put to death what belongs to your worldly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.

in order to live the remaining time in the flesh, no longer for human desires, but for God’s will.

Unto iniquity

Don’t you know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of that one you obey—either of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness?

Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast permeates the whole batch of dough?

Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”

But avoid irreverent, empty speech, for this will produce an even greater measure of godlessness.

Make sure that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and by it, defiling many.

Now yield

Unto holiness

But now, since you have been liberated from sin and have become enslaved to God, you have your fruit, which results in sanctification

—and the end is eternal life!
