O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
You must not do anything to the young woman -- she has done nothing deserving of death. This case is the same as when someone attacks another person and murders him,
They say, "God has abandoned him. Run and seize him, for there is no one who will rescue him!"
For he will rescue the needy when they cry out for help, and the oppressed who have no defender.
The Lord says, "Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me.
in order to hear the painful cries of the prisoners, and to set free those condemned to die,
You will once again have mercy on us; you will conquer our evil deeds; you will hurl our sins into the depths of the sea.
Moreover, as for you, because of our covenant relationship secured with blood, I will release your prisoners from the waterless pit.

and set free those who were held in slavery all their lives by their fear of death.
The body of this
We know that our old man was crucified with him so that the body of sin would no longer dominate us, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
(for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.
adrift among the dead, like corpses lying in the grave, whom you remember no more, and who are cut off from your power.
In him you also were circumcised -- not, however, with a circumcision performed by human hands, but by the removal of the fleshly body, that is, through the circumcision done by Christ.
