Because

Therefore it is by faith, that it might be of grace; in order that the promise might be secured to all the seed; not only to that which is of the law, but to that which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

For being ignorant of the righteousness which is of God, and seeking to establish a righteousness of their own, they have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

And lo! a person coming to him, said, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, in order to attain eternal life?

Labour not for the meat which is perishable, but for that meat which endureth unto life eternal, which the Son of man will give you: for him hath the Father sealed, even God.

and having first brought them out, said, Sirs! what must I do to be saved?

If we receive the testimony of man, the testimony of God is stronger: for this is the testimony of God which he testified concerning his Son.

They stumbled

I say then, Have they stumbled so as to fall? God forbid: but by their stumbling salvation is come to the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy.
