and he [was]

[and] ten

שָׁנָ֑ה

šā·nāh;

וַיַּמְלִ֣יכוּ

way·yam·lî·ḵū

and they made him king

אֹת֔וֹ

’ō·ṯōw,

תַּ֖חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

אָבִ֥יו

’ā·ḇîw

. אֲמַצְיָֽהוּ׃

’ă·maṣ·yā·hū.

וַיְשִׁיבֶ֖הָ

and restored it

､ לִֽיהוּדָ֑ה

. בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

וְשֵׁ֣ם

And name

אִמּ֔וֹ

’im·mōw,

[יכיליה]

And He

לִדְרֹ֣שׁ

אֱלֹהִ֔ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm,

בִּימֵ֣י

bî·mê

in the days

､ זְכַרְיָ֔הוּ

zə·ḵar·yā·hū,

of Zechariah ､

הַמֵּבִ֖ין

ham·mê·ḇîn

who had understanding

בִּרְאֹ֣ת

bir·’ōṯ

in the visions

– הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm;

of God –

וּבִימֵי֙

ū·ḇî·mê

and as long as

דָּרְשׁ֣וֹ

dā·rə·šōw

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

הִצְלִיח֖וֹ

hiṣ·lî·ḥōw

made him prosper

the wall

､ אַשְׁדּ֑וֹד

וַיִּבְנֶ֣ה

and he built

עָרִ֔ים

､ בְּאַשְׁדּ֖וֹד

[around] Ashdod ､

and among the Philistines .

וַיַּעְזְרֵ֨הוּ

הָֽאֱלֹהִ֜ים

עַל־

‘al-

､ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֧ים

the Philistines ､

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

[הערביים]

hā·‘ar·ḇî·yîm

(הָֽעַרְבִ֛ים)

הַיֹּשְׁבִ֥ים

בְּגוּר־

. וְהַמְּעוּנִֽים׃

and against the Meunites .

וַיִּתְּנ֧וּ

הָֽעַמּוֹנִ֛ים

מִנְחָ֖ה

､ לְעֻזִּיָּ֑הוּ

to Uzziah ､

עַל־

Gate ､

הַפִּנָּ֛ה

hap·pin·nāh

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and at

､ שַׁ֥עַר

ša·‘ar

Gate ､

הַגַּ֖יְא

וְעַל־

and at

הַמִּקְצ֑וֹעַ

ham·miq·ṣō·w·a‘;

the corner buttress of the wall

. וַֽיְחַזְּקֵֽם׃

way·ḥaz·zə·qêm.

then he fortified them .

וַיִּ֨בֶן

way·yi·ḇen

And he built

מִגְדָּלִ֜ים

miḡ·dā·lîm

､ בַּמִּדְבָּ֗ר

bam·miḏ·bār,

in the desert ､

וַיַּחְצֹב֙

way·yaḥ·ṣōḇ

and He dug

､ בֹּר֣וֹת

bō·rō·wṯ

רַבִּ֔ים

rab·bîm,

כִּ֤י

kî

､ מִקְנֶה־

miq·neh-

רַּב֙

raḇ

הָ֣יָה

hā·yāh

ל֔וֹ

lōw,

he

､ וּבַשְּׁפֵלָ֖ה

ū·ḇaš·šə·p̄ê·lāh

and both in the lowlands ､

. וּבַמִּישׁ֑וֹר

ū·ḇam·mî·šō·wr;

and in the plains .

אִכָּרִ֣ים

’ik·kā·rîm

[he also had] plowmen

וְכֹֽרְמִ֗ים

wə·ḵō·rə·mîm,

and vinedressers

､ בֶּהָרִים֙

be·hā·rîm

in the mountains ､

– וּבַכַּרְמֶ֔ל

ū·ḇak·kar·mel,

and in Carmel –

אֲדָמָ֖ה

the soil

. הָיָֽה׃

and five

with power ､

the king

the enemy .

the army

and spears ､

and helmets ､

､ וְשִׁרְיֹנ֖וֹת

and body armor ､

､ וּקְשָׁת֑וֹת

ū·qə·šā·ṯō·wṯ;

and bows ､

וּלְאַבְנֵ֖י

ū·lə·’aḇ·nê

. קְלָעִֽים׃

qə·lā·‘îm.

slings [to cast] .

וַיַּ֣עַשׂ ׀

way·ya·‘aś

And he made

בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֨ם

bî·rū·šā·lim

､ חִשְּׁבֹנ֜וֹת

ḥiš·šə·ḇō·nō·wṯ

מַחֲשֶׁ֣בֶת

ma·ḥă·še·ḇeṯ

､ חוֹשֵׁ֗ב

ḥō·wō·šêḇ,

skillful men ､

לִהְי֤וֹת

lih·yō·wṯ

to be

עַל־

‘al-

on

הַמִּגְדָּלִים֙

ham·miḡ·dā·lîm

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and

､ הַפִּנּ֔וֹת

hap·pin·nō·wṯ,

the corners ､

לִירוֹא֙

lî·rō·w

בַּֽחִצִּ֔ים

ba·ḥiṣ·ṣîm,

וּבָאֲבָנִ֖ים

ū·ḇā·’ă·ḇā·nîm

גְּדֹל֑וֹת

gə·ḏō·lō·wṯ;

וַיֵּצֵ֤א

way·yê·ṣê

שְׁמוֹ֙

šə·mōw

– עַד־

‘aḏ-

even to –

לְמֵ֣רָח֔וֹק

lə·mê·rā·ḥō·wq,

far [and wide]

כִּֽי־

kî-

הִפְלִ֥יא

hip̄·lî

he was marvelously

､ לְהֵעָזֵ֖ר

lə·hê·‘ā·zêr

עַ֥ד

‘aḏ

כִּֽי־

kî-

. חָזָֽק׃

ḥā·zāq.

he became strong .

Uzziah's Pride, Leprosy, Death

וּכְחֶזְקָת֗וֹ

ū·ḵə·ḥez·qā·ṯōw,

But when he was strong

גָּבַ֤הּ

gā·ḇah

לִבּוֹ֙

lib·bōw

עַד־

‘aḏ-

to

– לְהַשְׁחִ֔ית

lə·haš·ḥîṯ,

[his] destruction –

וַיִּמְעַ֖ל

way·yim·‘al

for he transgressed

בַּיהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹהָ֑יו

’ĕ·lō·hāw;

וַיָּבֹא֙

way·yā·ḇō

and by entering

אֶל־

’el-

הֵיכַ֣ל

hê·ḵal

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

לְהַקְטִ֖יר

lə·haq·ṭîr

to burn incense

עַל־

‘al-

on

מִזְבַּ֥ח

miz·baḥ

. הַקְּטֹֽרֶת׃

haq·qə·ṭō·reṯ.

וַיָּבֹ֥א

way·yā·ḇō

So went in

אַחֲרָ֖יו

’a·ḥă·rāw

עֲזַרְיָ֣הוּ

‘ă·zar·yā·hū

הַכֹּהֵ֑ן

hak·kō·hên;

וְעִמּ֞וֹ

wə·‘im·mōw

and with him

כֹּהֲנִ֧ים ׀

kō·hă·nîm

､ לַיהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

שְׁמוֹנִ֖ים

šə·mō·w·nîm

בְּנֵי־

bə·nê-

– חָֽיִל׃

ḥā·yil.

וַיַּעַמְד֞וּ

way·ya·‘am·ḏū

and they withstood

עַל־

‘al-

עֻזִּיָּ֣הוּ

‘uz·zî·yā·hū

､ הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

King ､

וַיֹּ֤אמְרוּ

way·yō·mə·rū

and said

לוֹ֙

lōw

to him

לֹא־

lō-

[it is] not

לְךָ֣

lə·ḵā

､ עֻזִּיָּ֗הוּ

‘uz·zî·yā·hū,

לְהַקְטִיר֙

lə·haq·ṭîr

to burn incense

､ לַֽיהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

to Yahweh ､

כִּ֣י

kî

but

לַכֹּהֲנִ֧ים

lak·kō·hă·nîm

for the priests

בְּנֵי־

bə·nê-

the sons

､ אַהֲרֹ֛ן

’a·hă·rōn

of Aaron ､

הַמְקֻדָּשִׁ֖ים

ham·qud·dā·šîm

who are consecrated

– לְהַקְטִ֑יר

lə·haq·ṭîr;

to burn incense –

צֵ֤א

ṣê

מִן־

min-

of

– הַמִּקְדָּשׁ֙

ham·miq·dāš

the sanctuary –

כִּ֣י

kî

– מָעַ֔לְתָּ

mā·‘al·tā,

you have trespassed –

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

and [shall have] no

לְךָ֥

lə·ḵā

לְכָב֖וֹד

lə·ḵā·ḇō·wḏ

מֵיְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

. אֱלֹהִֽים׃

’ĕ·lō·hîm.

､ וַיִּזְעַף֙

way·yiz·‘ap̄

And became furious ､

עֻזִּיָּ֔הוּ

‘uz·zî·yā·hū,

וּבְיָד֥וֹ

ū·ḇə·yā·ḏōw

and in his hand

מִקְטֶ֖רֶת

miq·ṭe·reṯ

he [had] a censer

– לְהַקְטִ֑יר

lə·haq·ṭîr;

to burn incense –

וּבְזַעְפּ֣וֹ

ū·ḇə·za‘·pōw

and while he was angry

עִם־

‘im-

with

､ הַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים

hak·kō·hă·nîm,

the priests ､

וְ֠הַצָּרַעַת

wə·haṣ·ṣā·ra·‘aṯ

זָרְחָ֨ה

zā·rə·ḥāh

בְמִצְח֜וֹ

ḇə·miṣ·ḥōw

on his forehead

לִפְנֵ֤י

lip̄·nê

הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙

hak·kō·hă·nîm

בְּבֵ֣ית

bə·ḇêṯ

in the house

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

of Yahweh ､

מֵעַ֖ל

mê·‘al

לְמִזְבַּ֥ח

lə·miz·baḥ

. הַקְּטֹֽרֶת׃

haq·qə·ṭō·reṯ.

וַיִּ֣פֶן

way·yi·p̄en

אֵלָ֡יו

’ê·lāw

at him

עֲזַרְיָהוּ֩

‘ă·zar·yā·hū

､ כֹהֵ֨ן

ḵō·hên

הָרֹ֜אשׁ

hā·rōš

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

､ הַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים

hak·kō·hă·nîm,

the priests ､

､ וְהִנֵּה־

wə·hin·nêh-

and there ､

ה֤וּא

hū

he [was]

מְצֹרָע֙

mə·ṣō·rā‘

､ בְּמִצְח֔וֹ

bə·miṣ·ḥōw,

on his forehead ､

וַיַּבְהִל֖וּהוּ

way·yaḇ·hi·lū·hū

so they thrust him out

– מִשָּׁ֑ם

miš·šām;

of that place –

וְגַם־

wə·ḡam-

and indeed also

הוּא֙

hū

he

נִדְחַ֣ף

niḏ·ḥap̄

､ לָצֵ֔את

lā·ṣêṯ,

to get out ､

כִּ֥י

kî

נִגְּע֖וֹ

nig·gə·‘ōw

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וַיְהִי֩

way·hî

And was

עֻזִּיָּ֨הוּ

‘uz·zî·yā·hū

הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

מְצֹרָ֣ע ׀

mə·ṣō·rā‘

עַד־

‘aḏ-

י֣וֹם

yō·wm

the day

､ מוֹת֗וֹ

mō·w·ṯōw,

of his death ､

וַיֵּ֜שֶׁב

way·yê·šeḇ

and He dwelt

､ בֵּ֤ית

bêṯ

in an house ､

[החפשות]

ha·ḥā·p̄ə·šūṯ

-

(הַֽחָפְשִׁית֙)

ha·ḥā·p̄ə·šîṯ

– מְצֹרָ֔ע

mə·ṣō·rā‘,

because he was a leper –

כִּ֥י

kî

נִגְזַ֖ר

niḡ·zar

מִבֵּ֣ית

mib·bêṯ

. יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וְיוֹתָ֤ם

wə·yō·w·ṯām

בְּנוֹ֙

bə·nōw

עַל־

‘al-

､ בֵּ֣ית

bêṯ

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

of the king

שׁוֹפֵ֖ט

šō·w·p̄êṭ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

עַ֥ם

‘am

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

of the land .

וְיֶ֙תֶר֙

wə·ye·ṯer

And the rest

דִּבְרֵ֣י

of the acts

､ עֻזִּיָּ֔הוּ

of Uzziah ､

הָרִאשֹׁנִ֖ים

､ וְהָאֲחֲרֹנִ֑ים‪‬

and to last ､

יְשַֽׁעְיָ֥הוּ

of Amoz ､

､ הַנָּבִֽיא׃

the prophet ､

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֨ב

way·yiš·kaḇ

עֻזִּיָּ֜הוּ

‘uz·zî·yā·hū

עִם־

‘im-

with

､ אֲבֹתָ֗יו

’ă·ḇō·ṯāw,

his fathers ､

וַיִּקְבְּר֨וּ

and they buried

עִם־

with

in the field

הַקְּבוּרָה֙

which [belonged]

to the kings –

כִּ֥י

､ אָמְר֖וּ

. מְצוֹרָ֣ע

mə·ṣō·w·rā‘

ה֑וּא

hū;

He [is]

וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ

way·yim·lōḵ

יוֹתָ֥ם
