וַיָּ֣חֶל

שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה

לִבְנ֤וֹת

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

בִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם

bî·rū·šā·lim,

בְּהַר֙

bə·har

､ הַמּ֣וֹרִיָּ֔ה

ham·mō·w·rî·yāh,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

נִרְאָ֖ה

nir·’āh

[Yahweh] had appeared

לְדָוִ֣יד

lə·ḏā·wîḏ

､ אָבִ֑יהוּ

’ā·ḇî·hū;

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

הֵכִין֙

hê·ḵîn

בִּמְק֣וֹם

bim·qō·wm

at the place

דָּוִ֔יד

dā·wîḏ,

בְּגֹ֖רֶן

bə·ḡō·ren

on the threshing floor

אָרְנָ֥ן

’ā·rə·nān

. הַיְבוּסִֽי׃

hay·ḇū·sî.

וַ֠יָּחֶל

way·yā·ḥel

And he began

לִבְנ֞וֹת

liḇ·nō·wṯ

､ בַּחֹ֤דֶשׁ

ba·ḥō·ḏeš

the month ､

הַשֵּׁנִי֙

haš·šê·nî

בַּשֵּׁנִ֔י

baš·šê·nî,

on the second [day]

בִּשְׁנַ֥ת

biš·naṯ

of in the year

אַרְבַּ֖ע

’ar·ba‘

. לְמַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃

lə·mal·ḵū·ṯōw.

Dimensions and Materials

וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙

wə·’êl·leh

And these [were]

הוּסַ֣ד

hū·saḏ

שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה

šə·lō·mōh,

לִבְנ֖וֹת

liḇ·nō·wṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

בֵּ֣ית

bêṯ

. הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm;

of God .

הָאֹ֡רֶךְ

hā·’ō·reḵ

The length [was]

אַמּ֞וֹת

’am·mō·wṯ

בַּמִּדָּ֤ה

bam·mid·dāh

according to the measure

הָרִֽאשׁוֹנָה֙

hā·ri·šō·w·nāh

､ אַמּ֣וֹת

’am·mō·wṯ

שִׁשִּׁ֔ים

šiš·šîm,

וְרֹ֖חַב

wə·rō·ḥaḇ

and the width

אַמּ֥וֹת

’am·mō·wṯ

. עֶשְׂרִֽים׃

‘eś·rîm.

וְהָאוּלָ֡ם

wə·hā·’ū·lām

And the vestibule

אֲשֶׁר֩

’ă·šer

עַל־

‘al-

in

פְּנֵ֨י

pə·nê

front [of the sanctuary]

הָאֹ֜רֶךְ

hā·’ō·reḵ

עַל־

רֹֽחַב־

､ הַבַּ֙יִת֙

of the house ､

､ אַמּ֣וֹת

was cubits long ､

עֶשְׂרִ֔ים

‘eś·rîm,

וְהַגֹּ֖בַהּ

wə·hag·gō·ḇah

and the height [was]

מֵאָ֣ה

mê·’āh

– וְעֶשְׂרִ֑ים

wə·‘eś·rîm;

and twenty –

וַיְצַפֵּ֥הוּ

way·ṣap·pê·hū

and He overlaid

מִפְּנִ֖ימָה

mip·pə·nî·māh

זָהָ֥ב

zā·hāḇ

with gold

. טָהֽוֹר׃

ṭā·hō·wr.

וְאֵ֣ת ׀

wə·’êṯ

And

הַבַּ֣יִת

hab·ba·yiṯ

the room

הַגָּד֗וֹל

hag·gā·ḏō·wl,

חִפָּה֙

ḥip·pāh

､ עֵ֣ץ

‘êṣ

with ､

בְּרוֹשִׁ֔ים

bə·rō·wō·šîm,

וַיְחַפֵּ֖הוּ

way·ḥap·pê·hū

and which he overlaid

､ זָהָ֣ב

zā·hāḇ

with gold ､

ט֑וֹב

ṭō·wḇ;

וַיַּ֧עַל

way·ya·‘al

and he carved

עָלָ֛יו

‘ā·lāw

on it

תִּמֹרִ֖ים

ti·mō·rîm

. וְשַׁרְשְׁרֽוֹת׃

wə·šar·šə·rō·wṯ.

and chainwork .

וַיְצַ֧ף

way·ṣap̄

And he

אֶת־

’eṯ-

הַבַּ֛יִת

hab·ba·yiṯ

אֶ֥בֶן

’e·ḇen

יְקָרָ֖ה

yə·qā·rāh

– לְתִפְאָ֑רֶת

lə·ṯip̄·’ā·reṯ;

וְהַזָּהָ֖ב

wə·haz·zā·hāḇ

and the gold [was]

זְהַ֥ב

zə·haḇ

. פַּרְוָֽיִם׃

par·wā·yim.

וַיְחַ֨ף

way·ḥap̄

And He overlaid

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הַבַּ֜יִת

hab·ba·yiṯ

the house ､

､ הַקֹּר֧וֹת

haq·qō·rō·wṯ

the beams ､

､ הַסִּפִּ֛ים

has·sip·pîm

and doorposts ､

וְקִֽירוֹתָ֥יו

wə·qî·rō·w·ṯāw

וְדַלְתוֹתָ֖יו

wə·ḏal·ṯō·w·ṯāw

– זָהָ֑ב

zā·hāḇ;

with gold –

וּפִתַּ֥ח

ū·p̄it·taḥ

and he carved

כְּרוּבִ֖ים

kə·rū·ḇîm

עַל־

‘al-

on

. הַקִּירֽוֹת׃

haq·qî·rō·wṯ.

the walls .

And he made

אֶת־

אָרְכּ֞וֹ

of the house ､

וְרָחְבּ֖וֹ

– אַמּ֣וֹת

וַיְחַפֵּ֙הוּ֙

and He overlaid it

､ זָהָ֣ב

zā·hāḇ

with gold ､

ט֔וֹב

ṭō·wḇ,

לְכִכָּרִ֖ים

lə·ḵik·kā·rîm

שֵׁ֥שׁ

šêš

. מֵאֽוֹת׃

mê·’ō·wṯ.

וּמִשְׁקָ֛ל

ū·miš·qāl

And the weight [was]

לְמִסְמְר֥וֹת

lə·mis·mə·rō·wṯ

of the nails

לִשְׁקָלִ֖ים

liš·qā·lîm

חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים

ḥă·miš·šîm

. זָהָ֑ב

zā·hāḇ;

of gold .

וְהָעֲלִיּ֖וֹת

wə·hā·‘ă·lî·yō·wṯ

And the upper area

חִפָּ֥ה

ḥip·pāh

. זָהָֽב׃

zā·hāḇ.

with gold .

וַיַּ֜עַשׂ

way·ya·‘aś

And he made

בְּבֵֽית־

bə·ḇêṯ-

קֹ֤דֶשׁ

qō·ḏeš

in the most

הַקֳּדָשִׁים֙

haq·qo·ḏā·šîm

כְּרוּבִ֣ים

kə·rū·ḇîm

שְׁנַ֔יִם

šə·na·yim,

､ מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה

ma·‘ă·śêh

by carving ､

צַעֲצֻעִ֑ים

ṣa·‘ă·ṣu·‘îm;

וַיְצַפּ֥וּ

way·ṣap·pū

אֹתָ֖ם

’ō·ṯām

. זָהָֽב׃

zā·hāḇ.

with gold .

The Cherubim

וְכַנְפֵי֙

wə·ḵan·p̄ê

And the wings

הַכְּרוּבִ֔ים

hak·kə·rū·ḇîm,

of the cherubim [were]

– אָרְכָּ֖ם

’ā·rə·kām

in [overall] length –

אַמּ֣וֹת

’am·mō·wṯ

עֶשְׂרִ֑ים

‘eś·rîm;

כְּנַ֨ף

kə·nap̄

wing [of the one cherub was]

הָאֶחָ֜ד

hā·’e·ḥāḏ

､ לְאַמּ֣וֹת

lə·’am·mō·wṯ

חָמֵ֗שׁ

ḥā·mêš,

מַגַּ֙עַת֙

mag·ga·‘aṯ

לְקִ֣יר

lə·qîr

the wall

､ הַבַּ֔יִת

hab·ba·yiṯ,

of the room ､

וְהַכָּנָ֤ף

wə·hak·kā·nāp̄

and wing [was]

הָאַחֶ֙רֶת֙

hā·’a·ḥe·reṯ

､ אַמּ֣וֹת

’am·mō·wṯ

חָמֵ֔שׁ

ḥā·mêš,

מַגִּ֕יעַ

לִכְנַ֖ף

the wing

הַכְּר֥וּב

. הָאַחֵֽר׃

the wall

of the room –

and the wing [also was]

דְּבֵקָ֕ה

The Veil and Pillars

וַיַּ֙עַשׂ֙

And he made

אֶת־

’eṯ-

הַפָּרֹ֔כֶת

hap·pā·rō·ḵeṯ,

the veil

､ תְּכֵ֥לֶת

tə·ḵê·leṯ

of blue ､

､ וְאַרְגָּמָ֖ן

wə·’ar·gā·mān

and purple ､

､ וְכַרְמִ֣יל

wə·ḵar·mîl

and crimson ､

､ וּב֑וּץ

ū·ḇūṣ;

and fine linen ､

וַיַּ֥עַל

way·ya·‘al

and wove

עָלָ֖יו

‘ā·lāw

. כְּרוּבִֽים׃

kə·rū·ḇîm.

way·ya·‘aś

And he made

לִפְנֵ֤י

lip̄·nê

הַבַּ֙יִת֙

hab·ba·yiṯ

of the temple

עַמּוּדִ֣ים

‘am·mū·ḏîm

שְׁנַ֔יִם

šə·na·yim,

אַמּ֕וֹת

’am·mō·wṯ

שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים

šə·lō·šîm

וְחָמֵ֖שׁ

wə·ḥā·mêš

and five

､ אֹ֑רֶךְ

’ō·reḵ;

high ､

וְהַצֶּ֥פֶת

wə·haṣ·ṣe·p̄eṯ

and the capital

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

עַל־

‘al-

on

רֹאשׁ֖וֹ

rō·šōw

the top of each of [them] was

אַמּ֥וֹת

’am·mō·wṯ

. חָמֵֽשׁ׃

ḥā·mêš.

And He made

､ שַׁרְשְׁרוֹת֙

šar·šə·rō·wṯ

wreaths of chainwork ､

､ בַּדְּבִ֔יר

bad·də·ḇîr,

as in the inner sanctuary ､

וַיִּתֵּ֖ן

way·yit·tên

and put [them]

עַל־

‘al-

on

רֹ֣אשׁ

rōš

– הָעַמֻּדִ֑ים

hā·‘am·mu·ḏîm;

of the pillars –

וַיַּ֤עַשׂ

way·ya·‘aś

and he made

､ רִמּוֹנִים֙

rim·mō·w·nîm

pomegranates ､

מֵאָ֔ה

mê·’āh,

וַיִּתֵּ֖ן

way·yit·tên

and put [them]

. בַּֽשַּׁרְשְׁרֽוֹת׃

baš·šar·šə·rō·wṯ.

on the wreaths of chainwork .

וַיָּ֤קֶם

way·yā·qem

And he set up

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הָֽעַמּוּדִים֙

hā·‘am·mū·ḏîm

עַל־

‘al-

פְּנֵ֣י

pə·nê

the face of

､ הַהֵיכָ֔ל

ha·hê·ḵāl,

the temple ､

אֶחָ֥ד

’e·ḥāḏ

､ מִיָּמִ֖ין

mî·yā·mîn

on the right hand ､

וְאֶחָ֣ד

wə·’e·ḥāḏ

and one

מֵֽהַשְּׂמֹ֑אול

mê·haś·śə·mō·wl;

on the left

וַיִּקְרָ֤א

way·yiq·rā

and he called

שֵׁם־

šêm-

the name

[הימיני]

hay·mî·nî

of

(הַיְמָנִי֙)

hay·mā·nî

the one on the right hand

､ יָכִ֔ין

yā·ḵîn,

וְשֵׁ֥ם

wə·šêm

and the name

– הַשְּׂמָאלִ֖י

haś·śə·mā·lî

of the one on the left –

. בֹּֽעַז׃

bō·‘az.
