בְּהַעֲל֤וֹת

when was about to take up

יְהוָה֙

’eṯ-

-

אֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ

’ê·lî·yā·hū,

､ בַּֽסְעָרָ֖ה

bas·‘ā·rāh

by a whirlwind ､

הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

haš·šā·mā·yim;

וַיֵּ֧לֶךְ

way·yê·leḵ

אֵלִיָּ֛הוּ

’ê·lî·yā·hū

וֶאֱלִישָׁ֖ע

we·’ĕ·lî·šā‘

and with Elisha

מִן־

min-

. הַגִּלְגָּֽל׃

hag·gil·gāl.

וַיֹּאמֶר֩

way·yō·mer

And said

אֵלִיָּ֨הוּ

’ê·lî·yā·hū

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ אֱלִישָׁ֜ע

’ĕ·lî·šā‘

שֵֽׁב־

šêḇ-

– נָ֣א

nā

､ פֹ֗ה

here ､

כִּ֤י

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

שְׁלָחַ֣נִי

šə·lā·ḥa·nî

עַד־

‘aḏ-

on to

בֵּֽית־

bêṯ-

in

. אֵ֔ל

’êl,

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

But said

אֱלִישָׁ֔ע

’ĕ·lî·šā‘,

､ חַי־

ḥay-

[As] lives ､

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

､ וְחֵֽי־

wə·ḥê-

and [as] lives ､

נַפְשְׁךָ֖

nap̄·šə·ḵā

אִם־

’im-

not

אֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ

’e·‘ez·ḇe·kā;

I will leave you

וַיֵּרְד֖וּ

way·yê·rə·ḏū

so they went down

בֵּֽית־

bêṯ-

to

. אֵֽל׃

’êl.

וַיֵּצְא֨וּ

way·yê·ṣə·’ū

בְנֵֽי־

ḇə·nê-

the sons

הַנְּבִיאִ֥ים

han·nə·ḇî·’îm

of the prophets

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

בֵּֽית־

bêṯ-

at

אֵל֮

’êl

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ אֱלִישָׁע֒

’ĕ·lî·šā‘

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ

way·yō·mə·rū

and said

אֵלָ֔יו

’ê·lāw,

to him

הֲיָדַ֕עְתָּ

hă·yā·ḏa‘·tā

כִּ֣י

kî

؟ הַיּ֗וֹם

hay·yō·wm,

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

לֹקֵ֥חַ

lō·qê·aḥ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

אֲדֹנֶ֖יךָ

’ă·ḏō·ne·ḵā

מֵעַ֣ל

mê·‘al

רֹאשֶׁ֑ךָ

rō·še·ḵā;

､ וַיֹּ֛אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and he said ､

､ גַּם־

gam-

Yes ､

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I

יָדַ֖עְתִּי

yā·ḏa‘·tî

. הֶחֱשֽׁוּ׃

he·ḥĕ·šū.

וַיֹּאמֶר֩

way·yō·mer

And said

ל֨וֹ

lōw

to him

אֵלִיָּ֜הוּ

’ê·lî·yā·hū

､ אֱלִישָׁ֣ע ׀

’ĕ·lî·šā‘

שֵֽׁב־

šêḇ-

– נָ֣א

nā

､ פֹ֗ה

p̄ōh,

here ､

כִּ֤י

kî

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

שְׁלָחַ֣נִי

šə·lā·ḥa·nî

. יְרִיח֔וֹ

yə·rî·ḥōw,

on to Jericho .

､ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

way·yō·mer

But he said ､

､ חַי־

ḥay-

[As] lives ､

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

､ וְחֵֽי־

wə·ḥê-

and [as] lives ､

נַפְשְׁךָ֖

nap̄·šə·ḵā

אִם־

’im-

not

אֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ

’e·‘ez·ḇe·kā;

I will leave you

וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

. יְרִיחֽוֹ׃

yə·rî·ḥōw.

וַיִּגְּשׁ֨וּ

way·yig·gə·šū

And came

בְנֵֽי־

ḇə·nê-

the sons

הַנְּבִיאִ֥ים

han·nə·ḇî·’îm

of the prophets

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

בִּֽירִיחוֹ֮

bî·rî·ḥōw

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ אֱלִישָׁע֒

’ĕ·lî·šā‘

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ

way·yō·mə·rū

and said

אֵלָ֔יו

’ê·lāw,

to him

הֲיָדַ֕עְתָּ

hă·yā·ḏa‘·tā

כִּ֣י

kî

؟ הַיּ֗וֹם

hay·yō·wm,

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

לֹקֵ֥חַ

lō·qê·aḥ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

אֲדֹנֶ֖יךָ

’ă·ḏō·ne·ḵā

מֵעַ֣ל

mê·‘al

רֹאשֶׁ֑ךָ

rō·še·ḵā;

､ וַיֹּ֛אמֶר

way·yō·mer

so he answered ､

､ גַּם־

gam-

Yes ､

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I

יָדַ֖עְתִּי

yā·ḏa‘·tî

. הֶחֱשֽׁוּ׃

he·ḥĕ·šū.

וַיֹּאמֶר֩

way·yō·mer

And said

ל֨וֹ

lōw

to him

אֵלִיָּ֜הוּ

’ê·lî·yā·hū

､ שֵֽׁב־

šêḇ-

Stay ､

､ נָ֣א

nā

– פֹ֗ה

p̄ōh,

here –

כִּ֤י

kî

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

שְׁלָחַ֣נִי

šə·lā·ḥa·nî

. הַיַּרְדֵּ֔נָה

hay·yar·dê·nāh,

on to the Jordan .

､ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

way·yō·mer

But he said ､

､ חַי־

ḥay-

[As] lives ､

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

､ וְחֵֽי־

wə·ḥê-

and [as] lives ､

נַפְשְׁךָ֖

nap̄·šə·ḵā

אִם־

’im-

not

אֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ

’e·‘ez·ḇe·kā;

I will leave you

וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ

way·yê·lə·ḵū

so went on

. שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃

šə·nê·hem.

the two of them .

וַחֲמִשִּׁ֨ים

wa·ḥă·miš·šîm

אִ֜ישׁ

’îš

מִבְּנֵ֤י

mib·bə·nê

of the sons

הַנְּבִיאִים֙

han·nə·ḇî·’îm

of the prophets

､ הָֽלְכ֔וּ

hā·lə·ḵū,

went ､

וַיַּעַמְד֥וּ

way·ya·‘am·ḏū

מִנֶּ֖גֶד

min·ne·ḡeḏ

､ מֵרָח֑וֹק

mê·rā·ḥō·wq;

facing [them] at a distance ､

וּשְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם

ū·šə·nê·hem

and while the two of them

עָמְד֥וּ

‘ā·mə·ḏū

עַל־

‘al-

by

. הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

hay·yar·dên.

the Jordan .

וַיִּקַּח֩

way·yiq·qaḥ

And took

אֵלִיָּ֨הוּ

’ê·lî·yā·hū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ אַדַּרְתּ֤וֹ

’ad·dar·tōw

､ וַיִּגְלֹם֙

way·yiḡ·lōm

and rolled [it] up ､

וַיַּכֶּ֣ה

way·yak·keh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הַמַּ֔יִם

ham·ma·yim,

the water ､

וַיֵּחָצ֖וּ

way·yê·ḥā·ṣū

and it was divided

הֵ֣נָּה

hên·nāh

､ וָהֵ֑נָּה

wā·hên·nāh;

that ､

וַיַּעַבְר֥וּ

way·ya·‘aḇ·rū

so that crossed over

שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם

šə·nê·hem

the two of them

. בֶּחָרָבָֽה׃

be·ḥā·rā·ḇāh.

on dry ground .

､ וַיְהִ֣י

way·hî

And so it was ､

､ כְעָבְרָ֗ם

ḵə·‘ā·ḇə·rām,

when they had crossed over ､

וְאֵ֨לִיָּ֜הוּ

wə·’ê·lî·yā·hū

אָמַ֤ר

’ā·mar

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ אֱלִישָׁע֙

’ĕ·lî·šā‘

שְׁאַל֙

šə·’al

מָ֣ה

māh

אֶֽעֱשֶׂה־

’e·‘ĕ·śeh-

may I do

לָּ֔ךְ

lāḵ,

בְּטֶ֖רֶם

bə·ṭe·rem

אֶלָּקַ֣ח

’el·lā·qaḥ

I am taken away

מֵעִמָּ֑ךְ

mê·‘im·māḵ;

､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said ､

אֱלִישָׁ֔ע

’ĕ·lî·šā‘,

וִֽיהִי־

wî·hî-

let be

､ נָ֛א

nā

פִּֽי־

pî-

שְׁנַ֥יִם

šə·na·yim

בְּרוּחֲךָ֖

bə·rū·ḥă·ḵā

. אֵלָֽי׃

’ê·lāy.

upon me .

､ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

way·yō·mer

So he said ､

– הִקְשִׁ֣יתָ

hiq·šî·ṯā

a hard thing –

לִשְׁא֑וֹל

liš·’ō·wl;

אִם־

’im-

[Nevertheless] if

תִּרְאֶ֨ה

tir·’eh

אֹתִ֜י

’ō·ṯî

me

לֻקָּ֤ח

luq·qāḥ

[when I am] taken

מֵֽאִתָּךְ֙

mê·’it·tāḵ

יְהִֽי־

yə·hî-

it shall be

לְךָ֣

lə·ḵā

כֵ֔ן

ḵên,

so

וְאִם־

wə·’im-

but if

､ אַ֖יִן

’a·yin

not ､

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. יִהְיֶֽה׃

yih·yeh.

it shall be [so] .

､ וַיְהִ֗י

way·hî,

And it came to pass ､

הֵ֣מָּה

hêm·māh

､ הֹלְכִ֤ים

hō·lə·ḵîm

as continued on ､

הָלוֹךְ֙

hā·lō·wḵ

､ וְדַבֵּ֔ר

wə·ḏab·bêr,

and talked ､

､ וְהִנֵּ֤ה

wə·hin·nêh

that suddenly [appeared] ､

רֶֽכֶב־

re·ḵeḇ-

､ אֵשׁ֙

’êš

of fire ､

וְס֣וּסֵי

wə·sū·sê

and with horses

､ אֵ֔שׁ

’êš,

of fire ､

וַיַּפְרִ֖דוּ

way·yap̄·ri·ḏū

– בֵּ֣ין

bên

שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם

šə·nê·hem;

the two of them

וַיַּ֙עַל֙

way·ya·‘al

and went up

אֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ

’ê·lî·yā·hū,

בַּֽסְעָרָ֖ה

bas·sə·‘ā·rāh

. הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

haš·šā·mā·yim.

וֶאֱלִישָׁ֣ע

we·’ĕ·lî·šā‘

רֹאֶ֗ה

rō·’eh,

saw [it]

וְה֤וּא

wə·hū

and he

､ מְצַעֵק֙

mə·ṣa·‘êq

אָבִ֣י ׀

’ā·ḇî

､ אָבִ֗י

’ā·ḇî,

my father ､

רֶ֤כֶב

re·ḵeḇ

､ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

of Israel ､

וּפָ֣רָשָׁ֔יו

ū·p̄ā·rā·šāw,

and its horsemen

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

so no

רָאָ֖הוּ

rā·’ā·hū

. ע֑וֹד

‘ō·wḏ;

וַֽיַּחֲזֵק֙

way·ya·ḥă·zêq

And he took hold

､ בִּבְגָדָ֔יו

biḇ·ḡā·ḏāw,

of his own clothes ､

וַיִּקְרָעֵ֖ם

way·yiq·rā·‘êm

לִשְׁנַ֥יִם

liš·na·yim

. קְרָעִֽים׃

qə·rā·‘îm.

וַיָּ֙רֶם֙

way·yā·rem

And He took up

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

אַדֶּ֣רֶת

’ad·de·reṯ

אֵלִיָּ֔הוּ

’ê·lî·yā·hū,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

נָפְלָ֖ה

nā·p̄ə·lāh

מֵעָלָ֑יו

mê·‘ā·lāw;

､ וַיָּ֥שָׁב

way·yā·šāḇ

and went back ､

וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד

way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ

עַל־

‘al-

by

שְׂפַ֥ת

śə·p̄aṯ

the bank

– הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

hay·yar·dên.

of the Jordan –

וַיִּקַּח֩

way·yiq·qaḥ

and he took

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

אַדֶּ֨רֶת

’ad·de·reṯ

אֵלִיָּ֜הוּ

’ê·lî·yā·hū

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נָפְלָ֤ה

nā·p̄ə·lāh

מֵֽעָלָיו֙

mê·‘ā·lāw

וַיַּכֶּ֣ה

way·yak·keh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הַמַּ֔יִם

ham·ma·yim,

the water ､

､ וַיֹּאמַ֕ר

way·yō·mar

and said ､

אַיֵּ֕ה

’ay·yêh

where [is]

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

’ĕ·lō·hê

؟ אֵלִיָּ֑הוּ

’ê·lî·yā·hū;

of Elijah ؟

אַף־

’ap̄-

ה֣וּא ׀

hū

he

וַיַּכֶּ֣ה

way·yak·keh

and when had struck

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הַמַּ֗יִם

ham·ma·yim,

the water ､

וַיֵּֽחָצוּ֙

way·yê·ḥā·ṣū

and it was divided

הֵ֣נָּה

hên·nāh

– וָהֵ֔נָּה

wā·hên·nāh,

that –

וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֖ר

way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr

and crossed over

. אֱלִישָֽׁע׃

’ĕ·lî·šā‘.

Elisha Succeeds Elijah

וַיִּרְאֻ֨הוּ

way·yir·’u·hū

And when saw him

בְנֵֽי־

ḇə·nê-

the sons

הַנְּבִיאִ֤ים

han·nə·ḇî·’îm

of the prophets

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

בִּֽירִיחוֹ֙

bî·rî·ḥōw

מִנֶּ֔גֶד

min·ne·ḡeḏ,

､ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

way·yō·mə·rū,

and they said ､

נָ֛חָה

nā·ḥāh

ר֥וּחַ

rū·aḥ

אֵלִיָּ֖הוּ

’ê·lî·yā·hū

עַל־

‘al-

on

. אֱלִישָׁ֑ע

’ĕ·lî·šā‘;

וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

לִקְרָאת֔וֹ

liq·rā·ṯōw,

וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ־

way·yiš·ta·ḥă·wū-

ל֖וֹ

lōw

. אָֽרְצָה׃

’ā·rə·ṣāh.

to the ground .

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ

way·yō·mə·rū

אֵלָ֡יו

’ê·lāw

to him

הִנֵּה־

hin·nêh-

､ נָ֣א

nā

now ､

יֵֽשׁ־

yêš-

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

עֲבָדֶיךָ֩

חֲמִשִּׁ֨ים

– אֲנָשִׁ֜ים

’ă·nā·šîm

men –

בְּנֵֽי־

bə·nê-

חַ֗יִל

ḥa·yil,

､ יֵ֣לְכוּ

yê·lə·ḵū

let them go ､

､ נָא֮

nā

וִיבַקְשׁ֣וּ

wî·ḇaq·šū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

– אֲדֹנֶיךָ֒

’ă·ḏō·ne·ḵā

your master –

פֶּן־

pen-

､ נְשָׂאוֹ֙

nə·śā·’ōw

has taken him up ､

ר֣וּחַ

rū·aḥ

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

וַיַּשְׁלִכֵ֙הוּ֙

way·yaš·li·ḵê·hū

בְּאַחַ֣ד

bə·’a·ḥaḏ

､ הֶהָרִ֔ים

he·hā·rîm,

of the mountains ､

א֖וֹ

’ōw

or

בְּאַחַ֣ת

bə·’a·ḥaṯ

[הגיאות]

hag·gə·yā·’ō·wṯ

of the valleys

. (הַגֵּאָי֑וֹת)

hag·gê·’ā·yō·wṯ;

､ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And he said ､

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. תִשְׁלָֽחוּ׃

ṯiš·lā·ḥū.

You shall send anyone .

וַיִּפְצְרוּ־

way·yip̄·ṣə·rū-

But when they urged

ב֥וֹ

ḇōw

עַד־

‘aḏ-

､ בֹּ֖שׁ

bōš

he was ashamed ､

､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and he said ､

. שְׁלָ֑חוּ

šə·lā·ḥū;

וַֽיִּשְׁלְחוּ֙

way·yiš·lə·ḥū

Therefore they sent

חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים

ḥă·miš·šîm

– אִ֔ישׁ

’îš,

men –

וַיְבַקְשׁ֥וּ

way·ḇaq·šū

and they searched for

שְׁלֹשָֽׁה־

šə·lō·šāh-

､ יָמִ֖ים

yā·mîm

days ､

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

but not

. מְצָאֻֽהוּ׃

mə·ṣā·’u·hū.

וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ

way·yā·šu·ḇū

And when they came back

אֵלָ֔יו

’ê·lāw,

to him

וְה֖וּא

wə·hū

for he

יֹשֵׁ֣ב

yō·šêḇ

בִּירִיח֑וֹ

bî·rî·ḥōw;

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and he said

אֲלֵהֶ֔ם

’ă·lê·hem,

הֲלֽוֹא־

hă·lō·w-

did not

אָמַ֥רְתִּי

’ā·mar·tî

אֲלֵיכֶ֖ם

’ă·lê·ḵem

to you

אַל־

’al-

not

؟ תֵּלֵֽכוּ׃

tê·lê·ḵū.

do go ؟

Elisha Heals Jericho's Waters

וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ

way·yō·mə·rū

and said

אַנְשֵׁ֤י

’an·šê

the men

הָעִיר֙

hā·‘îr

of the city

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ אֱלִישָׁ֔ע

’ĕ·lî·šā‘,

､ הִנֵּה־

hin·nêh-

､ נָ֞א

nā

מוֹשַׁ֤ב

mō·wō·šaḇ

הָעִיר֙

hā·‘îr

､ ט֔וֹב

ṭō·wḇ,

[is] pleasant ､

כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

אֲדֹנִ֖י

’ă·ḏō·nî

– רֹאֶ֑ה

rō·’eh;

sees –

וְהַמַּ֥יִם

wə·ham·ma·yim

but the water

､ רָעִ֖ים

rā·‘îm

[is] bad ､

וְהָאָ֥רֶץ

wə·hā·’ā·reṣ

and the ground

. מְשַׁכָּֽלֶת׃

mə·šak·kā·leṯ.

､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

way·yō·mer,

And he said ､

קְחוּ־

qə·ḥū-

לִי֙

lî

me

､ צְלֹחִ֣ית

ṣə·lō·ḥîṯ

a bowl ､

חֲדָשָׁ֔ה

ḥă·ḏā·šāh,

וְשִׂ֥ימוּ

wə·śî·mū

and put

. שָׁ֖ם

šām

in it .

מֶ֑לַח

me·laḥ;

וַיִּקְח֖וּ

way·yiq·ḥū

so they brought [it]

. אֵלָֽיו׃

’ê·lāw.

to him .

וַיֵּצֵא֙

way·yê·ṣê

And he went out

אֶל־

’el-

to

מוֹצָ֣א

mō·w·ṣā

､ הַמַּ֔יִם

ham·ma·yim,

of the water ､

וַיַּשְׁלֶךְ־

way·yaš·leḵ-

and cast

､ שָׁ֖ם

šām

in there ､

מֶ֑לַח

me·laḥ;

the salt

､ וַיֹּ֜אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said ､

כֹּֽה־

kōh-

אָמַ֣ר

’ā·mar

､ יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

רִפִּ֙אתִי֙

rip·pi·ṯî

– לַמַּ֣יִם

lam·ma·yim

הָאֵ֔לֶּה

hā·’êl·leh,

לֹֽא־

lō-

no

יִהְיֶ֥ה

yih·yeh

מִשָּׁ֛ם

miš·šām

ע֖וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

מָ֥וֶת

mā·weṯ

. וּמְשַׁכָּֽלֶת׃

ū·mə·šak·kā·leṯ.

or barrenness .

וַיֵּרָפ֣וּ

way·yê·rā·p̄ū

So remains healed

הַמַּ֔יִם

ham·ma·yim,

עַ֖ד

‘aḏ

to

､ הַיּ֣וֹם

hay·yō·wm

day ､

הַזֶּ֑ה

haz·zeh;

כִּדְבַ֥ר

kiḏ·ḇar

according to the word

אֱלִישָׁ֖ע

’ĕ·lî·šā‘

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

. דִּבֵּֽר׃

dib·bêr.

he spoke .

וַיַּ֥עַל

way·ya·‘al

And he went up

מִשָּׁ֖ם

miš·šām

בֵּֽית־

bêṯ-

to

– אֵ֑ל

’êl;

וְה֣וּא ׀

wə·hū

and as he

עֹלֶ֣ה

‘ō·leh

､ בַדֶּ֗רֶךְ

ḇad·de·reḵ,

the road ､

וּנְעָרִ֤ים

ū·nə·‘ā·rîm

and some youths

קְטַנִּים֙

qə·ṭan·nîm

יָצְא֣וּ

yā·ṣə·’ū

מִן־

min-

､ הָעִ֔יר

hā·‘îr,

the city ､

וַיִּתְקַלְּסוּ־

way·yiṯ·qal·lə·sū-

בוֹ֙

ḇōw

וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ

way·yō·mə·rū

and said

ל֔וֹ

lōw,

to him

､ עֲלֵ֥ה

‘ă·lêh

go up ､

– קֵרֵ֖חַ

qê·rê·aḥ

you baldhead –

､ עֲלֵ֥ה

‘ă·lêh

וַיִּ֤פֶן

So he turned

､ אַֽחֲרָיו֙

’a·ḥă·rāw

וַיִּרְאֵ֔ם

way·yir·’êm,

and looked at them

וַֽיְקַלְלֵ֖ם

way·qal·lêm

and pronounced a curse on them

בְּשֵׁ֣ם

bə·šêm

in the name

. יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וַתֵּצֶ֨אנָה

wat·tê·ṣe·nāh

And came

שְׁתַּ֤יִם

šə·ta·yim

דֻּבִּים֙

dub·bîm

מִן־

min-

､ הַיַּ֔עַר

hay·ya·‘ar,

of the woods ､

וַתְּבַקַּ֣עְנָה

wat·tə·ḇaq·qa‘·nāh

מֵהֶ֔ם

mê·hem,

of

אַרְבָּעִ֥ים

’ar·bā·‘îm

וּשְׁנֵ֖י

ū·šə·nê

and two

. יְלָדִֽים׃

yə·lā·ḏîm.

the youths .

וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ

way·yê·leḵ

And he went

מִשָּׁ֖ם

miš·šām

אֶל־

’el-

to

הַ֣ר

har

､ הַכַּרְמֶ֑ל

hak·kar·mel;

וּמִשָּׁ֖ם

ū·miš·šām

שָׁ֥ב

šāḇ

. שֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

šō·mə·rō·wn.
