､ אֱלִישָׁ֑ע

הִנֵּֽה־

hin·nêh-

､ נָ֣א

nā

now ､

הַמָּק֗וֹם

ham·mā·qō·wm,

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

’ă·šer

אֲנַ֜חְנוּ

’ă·naḥ·nū

we

יֹשְׁבִ֥ים

yō·šə·ḇîm

שָׁ֛ם

šām

לְפָנֶ֖יךָ

lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā

with you

צַ֥ר

ṣar

. מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃

mim·men·nū.

for us .

､ נֵֽלְכָה־

nê·lə·ḵāh-

Let us go ､

､ נָּ֣א

nā

עַד־

‘aḏ-

to

､ הַיַּרְדֵּ֗ן

hay·yar·dên,

the Jordan ､

וְנִקְחָ֤ה

wə·niq·ḥāh

מִשָּׁם֙

miš·šām

אִ֚ישׁ

’îš

､ קוֹרָ֣ה

qō·w·rāh

beam ､

אֶחָ֔ת

’e·ḥāṯ,

a

וְנַעֲשֶׂה־

wə·na·‘ă·śeh-

and let us make

לָּ֥נוּ

lā·nū

to

､ שָׁ֛ם

šām

מָק֖וֹם

mā·qō·wm

. לָשֶׁ֣בֶת

lā·še·ḇeṯ

where we may dwell .

שָׁ֑ם

šām;

､ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

way·yō·mer

so he answered ､

. לֵֽכוּ׃

lê·ḵū.

go .

､ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙

way·yō·mer

And said ､

הָֽאֶחָ֔ד

hā·’e·ḥāḏ,

､ ה֥וֹאֶל

hō·w·’el

､ נָ֖א

nā

וְלֵ֣ךְ

wə·lêḵ

and to go

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

. עֲבָדֶ֑יךָ

‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā;

your servants .

､ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And he answered ､

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I

. אֵלֵֽךְ׃

’ê·lêḵ.

will go .

וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ

way·yê·leḵ

So he went

אִתָּ֑ם

’it·tām;

with them

וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

and when they came

､ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔נָה

hay·yar·dê·nāh,

to the Jordan ､

וַֽיִּגְזְר֖וּ

way·yiḡ·zə·rū

and they cut down

. הָעֵצִֽים׃

hā·‘ê·ṣîm.

וַיְהִ֤י

way·hî

But as was

הָֽאֶחָד֙

hā·’e·ḥāḏ

מַפִּ֣יל

map·pîl

､ הַקּוֹרָ֔ה

haq·qō·w·rāh,

a tree ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הַבַּרְזֶ֖ל

hab·bar·zel

the iron [ax head]

נָפַ֣ל

nā·p̄al

אֶל־

’el-

– הַמָּ֑יִם

ham·mā·yim;

the water –

､ וַיִּצְעַ֥ק

way·yiṣ·‘aq

and he cried out ､

､ וַיֹּ֛אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said ､

､ אֲהָ֥הּ

’ă·hāh

Alas ､

! אֲדֹנִ֖י

’ă·ḏō·nî

וְה֥וּא

wə·hū

for it

. שָׁאֽוּל׃

šā·’ūl.

､ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר

way·yō·mer

So said ､

אִישׁ־

’îš-

the man

הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm

of God

אָ֣נָה

’ā·nāh

נָפָ֑ל

nā·p̄āl;

וַיַּרְאֵ֙הוּ֙

way·yar·’ê·hū

and he showed him

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. הַמָּק֔וֹם

ham·mā·qō·wm,

the place .

וַיִּקְצָב־

way·yiq·ṣāḇ-

So he cut off

､ עֵץ֙

‘êṣ

a stick ､

וַיַּשְׁלֶךְ־

way·yaš·leḵ-

and threw [it]

– שָׁ֔מָּה

šām·māh,

in there –

וַיָּ֖צֶף

way·yā·ṣep̄

and he made float

. הַבַּרְזֶֽל׃

hab·bar·zel.

the iron .

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

way·yō·mer

Therefore he said

הָ֣רֶם

hā·rem

Pick [it] up

לָ֑ךְ

lāḵ;

וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח

way·yiš·laḥ

so he reached out

､ יָד֖וֹ

yā·ḏōw

. וַיִּקָּחֵֽהוּ׃

way·yiq·qā·ḥê·hū.

and took it .

and he consulted

with

､ עֲבָדָ֣יו

his servants ､

､ לֵאמֹ֗ר

אֶל־

in

מְק֛וֹם

פְּלֹנִ֥י

and such

. תַּחֲנֹתִֽי׃

My camp [will be] .

וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח

way·yiš·laḥ

And sent

אִ֣ישׁ

the man

הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

of God

אֶל־

’el-

to

מֶ֤לֶךְ

me·leḵ

the king

､ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

of Israel ､

､ לֵאמֹ֔ר

lê·mōr,

הִשָּׁ֕מֶר

hiš·šā·mer

מֵעֲבֹ֖ר

mê·‘ă·ḇōr

that you do not pass

– הַמָּק֣וֹם

ham·mā·qō·wm

הַזֶּ֑ה

haz·zeh;

כִּֽי־

kî-

שָׁ֖ם

šām

אֲרָ֥ם

’ă·rām

. נְחִתִּֽים׃

nə·ḥit·tîm.

is coming down .

וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח

way·yiš·laḥ

And sent [someone]

מֶ֣לֶךְ

the king

יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

אֶֽל־

’el-

to

הַמָּק֞וֹם

ham·mā·qō·wm

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

the man

הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים

[והזהירה]

(וְהִזְהִיר֖וֹ)

thus he warned him

וְנִשְׁמַ֣ר

wə·niš·mar

and he was watchful

､ שָׁ֑ם

šām;

לֹ֥א

’a·ḥaṯ

[just] one [time]

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

and not

. שְׁתָּֽיִם׃

šə·tā·yim.

[just] two [times] .

וַיִּסָּעֵר֙

Therefore was greatly troubled

לֵ֣ב

of the king

אֲרָ֔ם

עַל־

by

– הַדָּבָ֖ר

הַזֶּ֑ה

haz·zeh;

וַיִּקְרָ֤א

way·yiq·rā

and he called

אֶל־

’el-

､ עֲבָדָיו֙

‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw

his servants ､

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said

אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם

’ă·lê·hem,

הֲלוֹא֙

hă·lō·w

will not

תַּגִּ֣ידוּ

tag·gî·ḏū

לִ֔י

lî,

me

מִ֥י

mî

מִשֶּׁלָּ֖נוּ

miš·šel·lā·nū

of us

אֶל־

’el-

[is] for

מֶ֥לֶךְ

me·leḵ

the king

؟ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

of Israel ؟

､ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙

and said ､

מֵֽעֲבָדָ֔יו

､ אֲדֹנִ֣י

my lord ､

– הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ

הַנָּבִיא֙

who [is]

､ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

in Israel ､

יַגִּיד֙

yag·gîḏ

לְמֶ֣לֶךְ

lə·me·leḵ

the king

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַ֨דְּבָרִ֔ים

had·də·ḇā·rîm,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

תְּדַבֵּ֖ר

tə·ḏab·bêr

בַּחֲדַ֥ר

ba·ḥă·ḏar

in

. מִשְׁכָּבֶֽךָ׃

miš·kā·ḇe·ḵā.

､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

way·yō·mer,

So he said ､

לְכ֤וּ

go

וּרְאוּ֙

ū·rə·’ū

and see

אֵיכֹ֣ה

’ê·ḵōh

ה֔וּא

hū,

he [is]

וְאֶשְׁלַ֖ח

wə·’eš·laḥ

that I may send

וְאֶקָּחֵ֑הוּ

wə·’eq·qā·ḥê·hū;

וַיֻּגַּד־

way·yug·gaḏ-

and it was told

ל֥וֹ

lōw

､ לֵאמֹ֖ר

lê·mōr

､ הִנֵּ֥ה

hin·nêh

. בְדֹתָֽן׃

ḇə·ḏō·ṯān.

[he is] in Dothan .

וַיִּשְׁלַח־

way·yiš·laḥ-

Therefore he sent

שָׁ֛מָּה

šām·māh

､ סוּסִ֥ים

sū·sîm

､ וְרֶ֖כֶב

wə·re·ḵeḇ

and chariots ､

– וְחַ֣יִל

wə·ḥa·yil

and a army –

כָּבֵ֑ד

kā·ḇêḏ;

וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

､ לַ֔יְלָה

lay·lāh,

by night ､

וַיַּקִּ֖פוּ

way·yaq·qi·p̄ū

עַל־

‘al-

on

. הָעִֽיר׃

hā·‘îr.

the city .

､ וַ֠יַּשְׁכֵּם

way·yaš·kêm

And when arose early ､

מְשָׁרֵ֨ת

mə·šā·rêṯ

אִ֥ישׁ

’îš

of the man

הָֽאֱלֹהִים֮

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm

of God

לָקוּם֒

lā·qūm

､ וַיֵּצֵ֕א

way·yê·ṣê

and went out ､

､ וְהִנֵּה־

wə·hin·nêh-

and there was ､

חַ֛יִל

ḥa·yil

סוֹבֵ֥ב

sō·w·ḇêḇ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הָעִ֖יר

hā·‘îr

the city

וְס֣וּס

wə·sūs

and with horses

. וָרָ֑כֶב

wā·rā·ḵeḇ;

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said

נַעֲר֥וֹ

na·‘ă·rōw

אֵלָ֛יו

’ê·lāw

to him

､ אֲהָ֥הּ

’ă·hāh

Alas ､

! אֲדֹנִ֖י

’ă·ḏō·nî

אֵיכָ֥ה

’ê·ḵāh

؟ נַֽעֲשֶֽׂה׃

na·‘ă·śeh.

shall we do ؟

､ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

way·yō·mer

so he answered ､

– אַל־

’al-

not –

תִּירָ֑א

tî·rā;

כִּ֤י

kî

רַבִּים֙

rab·bîm

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

those who [are]

אִתָּ֔נוּ

’it·tā·nū,

with us

מֵאֲשֶׁ֖ר

mê·’ă·šer

than those who [are]

. אוֹתָֽם׃

’ō·w·ṯām.

with them .

､ וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֤ל

way·yiṯ·pal·lêl

And prayed ､

אֱלִישָׁע֙

’ĕ·lî·šā‘

､ וַיֹּאמַ֔ר

way·yō·mar,

and said ､

､ יְהוָ֕ה

Yah·weh

פְּקַח־

pə·qaḥ-

､ נָ֥א

nā

I pray ､

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ עֵינָ֖יו

‘ê·nāw

. וְיִרְאֶ֑ה

wə·yir·’eh;

that he may see .

וַיִּפְקַ֤ח

way·yip̄·qaḥ

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

עֵינֵ֣י

‘ê·nê

the eyes

– הַנַּ֔עַר

han·na·‘ar,

of the young man –

– וַיַּ֗רְא

way·yar,

and he saw –

､ וְהִנֵּ֨ה

wə·hin·nêh

and behold ､

הָהָ֜ר

hā·hār

the mountain [was]

מָלֵ֨א

mā·lê

סוּסִ֥ים

sū·sîm

וְרֶ֛כֶב

wə·re·ḵeḇ

אֵ֖שׁ

’êš

סְבִיבֹ֥ת

sə·ḇî·ḇōṯ

. אֱלִישָֽׁע׃

’ĕ·lî·šā‘.

וַיֵּרְדוּ֮

way·yê·rə·ḏū

So when [the Syrians] came down

אֵלָיו֒

’ê·lāw

to him

וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֨ל

way·yiṯ·pal·lêl

אֱלִישָׁ֤ע

’ĕ·lî·šā‘

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

､ וַיֹּאמַ֔ר

way·yō·mar,

and said ､

הַךְ־

haḵ-

､ נָ֥א

nā

I pray ､

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הַגּוֹי־

hag·gō·w-

הַזֶּ֖ה

haz·zeh

. בַּסַּנְוֵרִ֑ים

bas·san·wê·rîm;

with blindness .

וַיַּכֵּ֥ם

way·yak·kêm

And He struck them

בַּסַּנְוֵרִ֖ים

bas·san·wê·rîm

כִּדְבַ֥ר

kiḏ·ḇar

according to the word

. אֱלִישָֽׁע׃

’ĕ·lî·šā‘.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said

אֲלֵהֶ֜ם

’ă·lê·hem

אֱלִישָׁ֗ע

’ĕ·lî·šā‘,

לֹ֣א

not

זֶ֣ה

this [is]

､ הַדֶּרֶךְ֮

the way ､

וְלֹ֣א

זֹ֣ה

[is] this

– הָעִיר֒

the city –

לְכ֣וּ

אַחֲרַ֔י

’a·ḥă·ray,

me

וְאוֹלִ֣יכָה

wə·’ō·w·lî·ḵāh

and I will bring

אֶתְכֶ֔ם

’eṯ·ḵem,

אֶל־

’el-

to

הָאִ֖ישׁ

hā·’îš

the man

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

. תְּבַקֵּשׁ֑וּן

tə·ḇaq·qê·šūn;

וַיֹּ֥לֶךְ

way·yō·leḵ

But he led

אוֹתָ֖ם

’ō·w·ṯām

. שֹׁמְרֽוֹנָה׃

šō·mə·rō·w·nāh.

､ וַיְהִי֮

way·hî

So it was ､

כְּבֹאָ֣ם

kə·ḇō·’ām

when they had come

､ שֹׁמְרוֹן֒

šō·mə·rō·wn

to Samaria ､

､ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

אֱלִישָׁ֔ע

’ĕ·lî·šā‘,

､ יְהוָ֕ה

Yah·weh

פְּקַ֥ח

pə·qaḥ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

עֵינֵֽי־

‘ê·nê-

the eyes

אֵ֖לֶּה

’êl·leh

. וְיִרְא֑וּ

wə·yir·’ū;

that they may see .

וַיִּפְקַ֤ח

way·yip̄·qaḥ

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

､ עֵ֣ינֵיהֶ֔ם

– וַיִּרְא֕וּ

and they saw –

､ וְהִנֵּ֖ה

and there [they were] ､

בְּת֥וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

. שֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And he said

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

the king

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ אֱלִישָׁ֔ע

’ĕ·lî·šā‘,

כִּרְאֹת֖וֹ

kir·’ō·ṯōw

אוֹתָ֑ם

’ō·w·ṯām;

הַאַכֶּ֥ה

ha·’ak·keh

shall I kill [them]

אַכֶּ֖ה

’ak·keh

shall I kill [them]

､ אָבִֽי׃

’ā·ḇî.

My father ､

､ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙

way·yō·mer

but he answered ､

לֹ֣א

lō

not

תַכֶּ֔ה

ṯak·keh,

You shall kill [them]

הַאֲשֶׁ֥ר

ha·’ă·šer

would those whom

שָׁבִ֛יתָ

šā·ḇî·ṯā

you have taken captive

בְּחַרְבְּךָ֥

bə·ḥar·bə·ḵā

with your sword

؟ וּֽבְקַשְׁתְּךָ֖

ū·ḇə·qaš·tə·ḵā

and your bow ؟

אַתָּ֣ה

’at·tāh

מַכֶּ֑ה

mak·keh;

שִׂים֩

śîm

לֶ֨חֶם

le·ḥem

וָמַ֜יִם

wā·ma·yim

לִפְנֵיהֶ֗ם

lip̄·nê·hem,

וְיֹֽאכְלוּ֙

wə·yō·ḵə·lū

that they may eat

､ וְיִשְׁתּ֔וּ

wə·yiš·tū,

and drink ､

וְיֵלְכ֖וּ

wə·yê·lə·ḵū

and go

אֶל־

’el-

to

. אֲדֹנֵיהֶֽם׃

’ă·ḏō·nê·hem.

וַיִּכְרֶ֨ה

way·yiḵ·reh

And he prepared

לָהֶ֜ם

lā·hem

כֵּרָ֣ה

kê·rāh

גְדוֹלָ֗ה

ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh,

וַיֹּֽאכְלוּ֙

way·yō·ḵə·lū

and after they ate

､ וַיִּשְׁתּ֔וּ

way·yiš·tū,

and drank ､

､ וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵ֔ם

way·šal·lə·ḥêm,

and he sent them away ､

וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ

way·yê·lə·ḵū

אֶל־

’el-

to

. אֲדֹֽנֵיהֶ֑ם

’ă·ḏō·nê·hem;

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

So no

יָ֤סְפוּ

yā·sə·p̄ū

עוֹד֙

‘ō·wḏ

גְּדוּדֵ֣י

gə·ḏū·ḏê

אֲרָ֔ם

’ă·rām,

לָב֖וֹא

בְּאֶ֥רֶץ

､ וַיַּ֕עַל

and went up ､

וַיָּ֖צַר

עַל־

. שֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

וַיְהִ֨י

way·hî

רָעָ֤ב

rā·‘āḇ

גָּדוֹל֙

gā·ḏō·wl

– בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן

bə·šō·mə·rō·wn,

in Samaria –

､ וְהִנֵּ֖ה

wə·hin·nêh

and indeed ､

צָרִ֣ים

ṣā·rîm

עָלֶ֑יהָ

‘ā·le·hā;

it

עַ֣ד

‘aḏ

הֱי֤וֹת

hĕ·yō·wṯ

רֹאשׁ־

rōš-

חֲמוֹר֙

ḥă·mō·wr

בִּשְׁמֹנִ֣ים

biš·mō·nîm

､ כֶּ֔סֶף

ke·sep̄,

[shekels] of silver ､

וְרֹ֛בַע

wə·rō·ḇa‘

הַקַּ֥ב

haq·qaḇ

of a kab

[חרייונים]

ḥă·rê·yō·w·nîm

(דִּבְיוֹנִ֖ים‪‬)

diḇ·yō·w·nîm

of dove droppings

בַּחֲמִשָּׁה־

ba·ḥă·miš·šāh-

. כָֽסֶף׃

[shekels] of silver .

וַֽיְהִי֙

way·hî

And as was

מֶ֣לֶךְ

me·leḵ

the king

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

עֹבֵ֖ר

‘ō·ḇêr

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ הַחֹמָ֑ה

ha·ḥō·māh;

the wall ､

וְאִשָּׁ֗ה

wə·’iš·šāh,

and a woman

צָעֲקָ֤ה

ṣā·‘ă·qāh

אֵלָיו֙

’ê·lāw

to him

､ לֵאמֹ֔ר

lê·mōr,

､ הוֹשִׁ֖יעָה

hō·wō·šî·‘āh

Help ､

､ אֲדֹנִ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nî

my lord ､

. הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

ham·me·leḵ.

､ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙

way·yō·mer

And he said ､

אַל־

’al-

not

יוֹשִׁעֵ֣ךְ

yō·wō·ši·‘êḵ

if does help you

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

מֵאַ֖יִן

mê·’a·yin

וַיֹּֽאמֶר־

way·yō·mer-

and said

לָ֥הּ

lāh

to her

הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

the king

מַה־

mah-

לָּ֑ךְ

lāḵ;

is troubling you

､ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר

wat·tō·mer,

and she answered ､

הָאִשָּׁ֨ה

hā·’iš·šāh

הַזֹּ֜את

haz·zōṯ

אָמְרָ֣ה

’ā·mə·rāh

אֵלַ֗י

’ê·lay,

to me

תְּנִ֤י

tə·nî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ בְּנֵךְ֙

bə·nêḵ

וְנֹאכְלֶ֣נּוּ

wə·nō·ḵə·len·nū

that we may eat him

､ הַיּ֔וֹם

hay·yō·wm,

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

בְּנִ֖י

bə·nî

my son

נֹאכַ֥ל

nō·ḵal

we will eat

. מָחָֽר׃

mā·ḥār.

וַנְּבַשֵּׁ֥ל

wan·nə·ḇaš·šêl

So we boiled

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ בְּנִ֖י

bə·nî

my son ､

וַנֹּֽאכְלֵ֑הוּ

wan·nō·ḵə·lê·hū;

וָאֹמַ֨ר

wā·’ō·mar

and I said

אֵלֶ֜יהָ

’ê·le·hā

to her

､ בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

on the day ､

הָאַחֵ֗ר

hā·’a·ḥêr,

תְּנִ֤י

tə·nî

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ בְּנֵךְ֙

bə·nêḵ

וְנֹ֣אכְלֶ֔נּוּ

wə·nō·ḵə·len·nū,

that we may eat him

וַתַּחְבִּ֖א

wat·taḥ·bi

but she has hidden

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. בְּנָֽהּ׃

bə·nāh.

､ וַיְהִי֩

way·hî

And it came to pass ､

כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ

ḵiš·mō·a‘

הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

the king

אֶת־

’eṯ-

דִּבְרֵ֤י

diḇ·rê

､ הָֽאִשָּׁה֙

hā·’iš·šāh

of the woman ､

וַיִּקְרַ֣ע

way·yiq·ra‘

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

– בְּגָדָ֔יו

bə·ḡā·ḏāw,

his clothes –

וְה֖וּא

wə·hū

and as he

עֹבֵ֣ר

‘ō·ḇêr

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ הַחֹמָ֑ה

ha·ḥō·māh;

the wall ､

､ וַיַּ֣רְא

way·yar

and looked ､

הָעָ֔ם

hā·‘ām,

､ וְהִנֵּ֥ה

wə·hin·nêh

and there ､

הַשַּׂ֛ק

haś·śaq

[he had] sackcloth

עַל־

‘al-

on

בְּשָׂר֖וֹ

bə·śā·rōw

. מִבָּֽיִת׃

mib·bā·yiṯ.

､ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And he said ､

כֹּֽה־

kōh-

so

יַעֲשֶׂה־

ya·‘ă·śeh-

do

לִּ֥י

lî

to me

אֱלֹהִ֖ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm

וְכֹ֣ה

wə·ḵōh

and also

יוֹסִ֑ף

yō·w·sip̄;

אִֽם־

’im-

if

יַעֲמֹ֞ד

ya·‘ă·mōḏ

רֹ֣אשׁ

rōš

the head

אֱלִישָׁ֧ע

’ĕ·lî·šā‘

בֶּן־

ben-

שָׁפָ֛ט

šā·p̄āṭ

עָלָ֖יו

‘ā·lāw

on him

. הַיּֽוֹם׃

hay·yō·wm.

וֶאֱלִישָׁע֙

we·’ĕ·lî·šā‘

יֹשֵׁ֣ב

yō·šêḇ

､ בְּבֵית֔וֹ

bə·ḇê·ṯōw,

in his house ､

וְהַזְּקֵנִ֖ים

wə·haz·zə·qê·nîm

and the elders

יֹשְׁבִ֣ים

yō·šə·ḇîm

אִתּ֑וֹ

’it·tōw;

with him

וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח

way·yiš·laḥ

and [the king] sent

אִ֜ישׁ

’îš

מִלְּפָנָ֗יו

mil·lə·p̄ā·nāw,

בְּטֶ֣רֶם

bə·ṭe·rem

יָבֹא֩

yā·ḇō

הַמַּלְאָ֨ךְ

ham·mal·’āḵ

אֵלָ֜יו

’ê·lāw

to him

וְה֣וּא ׀

wə·hū

and he

אָמַ֣ר

’ā·mar

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ הַזְּקֵנִ֗ים

haz·zə·qê·nîm,

the elders ､

הַרְּאִיתֶם֙

har·rə·’î·ṯem

כִּֽי־

kî-

שָׁלַ֞ח

šā·laḥ

has sent someone

בֶּן־

ben-

הַֽמְרַצֵּ֤חַ

ham·raṣ·ṣê·aḥ

הַזֶּה֙

haz·zeh

לְהָסִ֣יר

lə·hā·sîr

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

؟ רֹאשִׁ֔י

rō·šî,

my head ؟

､ רְא֣וּ ׀

rə·’ū

Look ､

､ כְּבֹ֣א

kə·ḇō

הַמַּלְאָ֗ךְ

ham·mal·’āḵ,

סִגְר֤וּ

siḡ·rū

､ הַדֶּ֙לֶת֙

had·de·leṯ

the door ､

וּלְחַצְתֶּ֤ם

ū·lə·ḥaṣ·tem

אֹתוֹ֙

’ō·ṯōw

– בַּדֶּ֔לֶת

bad·de·leṯ,

at the door –

הֲל֗וֹא

hă·lō·w,

[Is] not

ק֛וֹל

qō·wl

רַגְלֵ֥י

raḡ·lê

אֲדֹנָ֖יו

’ă·ḏō·nāw

. אַחֲרָֽיו׃

’a·ḥă·rāw.

עוֹדֶ֙נּוּ֙

‘ō·w·ḏen·nū

מְדַבֵּ֣ר

mə·ḏab·bêr

he was still talking

עִמָּ֔ם

‘im·mām,

with them

､ וְהִנֵּ֥ה

wə·hin·nêh

and there was ､

הַמַּלְאָ֖ךְ

ham·mal·’āḵ

יֹרֵ֣ד

yō·rêḏ

אֵלָ֑יו

’ê·lāw;

to him

､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

way·yō·mer,

then [the king] said ､

､ הִנֵּֽה־

hin·nêh-

זֹ֤את

zōṯ

הָֽרָעָה֙

hā·rā·‘āh

מֵאֵ֣ת

mê·’êṯ

– יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

מָֽה־

māh-

אוֹחִ֥יל

’ō·w·ḥîl

לַיהוָ֖ה
