בָּעֵ֨ת

הַהִ֜וא

ha·hi·w

אָמַ֧ר

’ā·mar

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

אֵלַ֗י

’ê·lay,

to me

פְּסָל־

pə·sāl-

לְךָ֞

lə·ḵā

שְׁנֵֽי־

šə·nê-

לֻוחֹ֤ת‪‬‪‬‪‬

lū·ḥōṯ

אֲבָנִים֙

’ă·ḇā·nîm

､ כָּרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים

kā·ri·šō·nîm,

like the first ､

וַעֲלֵ֥ה

wa·‘ă·lêh

and come up

אֵלַ֖י

’ê·lay

to Me

､ הָהָ֑רָה

hā·hā·rāh;

on the mountain ､

וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ

wə·‘ā·śî·ṯā

and make

לְּךָ֖

lə·ḵā

אֲר֥וֹן

’ă·rō·wn

an ark

. עֵֽץ׃

‘êṣ.

of wood .

וְאֶכְתֹּב֙

wə·’eḵ·tōḇ

And I will write

עַל־

‘al-

on

הַלֻּחֹ֔ת

hal·lu·ḥōṯ,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַדְּבָרִ֔ים

had·də·ḇā·rîm,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

הָי֛וּ

hā·yū

עַל־

‘al-

on

הַלֻּחֹ֥ת

hal·lu·ḥōṯ

הָרִאשֹׁנִ֖ים

hā·ri·šō·nîm

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ שִׁבַּ֑רְתָּ

šib·bar·tā;

וְשַׂמְתָּ֖ם

wə·śam·tām

and you shall put them

. בָּאָרֽוֹן׃

bā·’ā·rō·wn.

in the ark .

וָאַ֤עַשׂ

wā·’a·‘aś

So I made

אֲרוֹן֙

’ă·rō·wn

an ark

､ עֲצֵ֣י

‘ă·ṣê

of wood ､

שִׁטִּ֔ים

šiṭ·ṭîm,

וָאֶפְסֹ֛ל

wā·’ep̄·sōl

שְׁנֵי־

šə·nê-

לֻחֹ֥ת

lu·ḥōṯ

אֲבָנִ֖ים

’ă·ḇā·nîm

､ כָּרִאשֹׁנִ֑ים

kā·ri·šō·nîm;

like the first ､

וָאַ֣עַל

wā·’a·‘al

and went up

､ הָהָ֔רָה

hā·hā·rāh,

the mountain ､

וּשְׁנֵ֥י

ū·šə·nê

and [having the] two

הַלֻּחֹ֖ת

hal·lu·ḥōṯ

. בְּיָדִֽי׃

bə·yā·ḏî.

in my hand .

וַיִּכְתֹּ֨ב

way·yiḵ·tōḇ

And He wrote

עַֽל־

‘al-

on

､ הַלֻּחֹ֜ת

hal·lu·ḥōṯ

the tablets ､

､ כַּמִּכְתָּ֣ב

kam·miḵ·tāḇ

according to the writing ､

הָרִאשׁ֗וֹן

hā·ri·šō·wn,

אֵ֚ת

’êṯ

-

עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת

‘ă·śe·reṯ

､ הַדְּבָרִ֔ים

had·də·ḇā·rîm,

the Commandments ､

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

דִּבֶּר֩

dib·ber

יְהוָ֨ה

Yah·weh

אֲלֵיכֶ֥ם

’ă·lê·ḵem

to you

בָּהָ֛ר

bā·hār

in the mountain

מִתּ֥וֹךְ

mit·tō·wḵ

הָאֵ֖שׁ

hā·’êš

of the fire

בְּי֣וֹם

bə·yō·wm

in the day

– הַקָּהָ֑ל

haq·qā·hāl;

of the assembly –

וַיִּתְּנֵ֥ם

way·yit·tə·nêm

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

. אֵלָֽי׃

’ê·lāy.

to me .

וָאֵ֗פֶן

wā·’ê·p̄en,

And I turned

וָֽאֵרֵד֙

wā·’ê·rêḏ

מִן־

min-

､ הָהָ֔ר

hā·hār,

the mountain ､

וָֽאָשִׂם֙

wā·’ā·śim

and put

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַלֻּחֹ֔ת

hal·lu·ḥōṯ,

בָּאָר֖וֹן

bā·’ā·rō·wn

in the ark

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

– עָשִׂ֑יתִי

‘ā·śî·ṯî;

I had made –

､ וַיִּ֣הְיוּ

way·yih·yū

and they are ､

שָׁ֔ם

šām,

כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר

ka·’ă·šer

צִוַּ֖נִי

ṣiw·wa·nî

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וּבְנֵ֣י

ū·ḇə·nê

And the sons

יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

נָֽסְע֛וּ

nā·sə·‘ū

מִבְּאֵרֹ֥ת

mib·bə·’ê·rōṯ

בְּנֵי־

bə·nê-

at

יַעֲקָ֖ן

ya·‘ă·qān

Beeroth Bene-jaakan

. מוֹסֵרָ֑ה

mō·w·sê·rāh;

שָׁ֣ם

šām

､ מֵ֤ת

mêṯ

died ､

אַהֲרֹן֙

’a·hă·rōn

– וַיִּקָּבֵ֣ר

way·yiq·qā·ḇêr

and he was buried –

שָׁ֔ם

šām,

וַיְכַהֵ֛ן

way·ḵa·hên

and ministered as priest

אֶלְעָזָ֥ר

’el·‘ā·zār

בְּנ֖וֹ

bə·nōw

. תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

taḥ·tāw.

מִשָּׁ֥ם

miš·šām

נָסְע֖וּ

nā·sə·‘ū

– הַגֻּדְגֹּ֑דָה

hag·guḏ·gō·ḏāh;

to Gudgodah –

וּמִן־

ū·min-

and from

הַגֻּדְגֹּ֣דָה

hag·guḏ·gō·ḏāh

､ יָטְבָ֔תָה

yā·ṭə·ḇā·ṯāh,

to Jotbathah ､

אֶ֖רֶץ

’e·reṣ

נַ֥חֲלֵי‪‬

na·ḥă·lê

. מָֽיִם׃

mā·yim.

of water .

בָּעֵ֣ת

bā·‘êṯ

הַהִ֗וא

ha·hi·w,

הִבְדִּ֤יל

hiḇ·dîl

יְהוָה֙

אֶת־

שֵׁ֣בֶט

the tribe of

､ הַלֵּוִ֔י

hal·lê·wî,

Levi ､

לָשֵׂ֖את

lā·śêṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

אֲר֣וֹן

’ă·rō·wn

the ark

בְּרִית־

bə·rîṯ-

of the covenant

､ יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

of Yahweh ､

לַעֲמֹד֩

la·‘ă·mōḏ

לִפְנֵ֨י

lip̄·nê

יְהוָ֤ה

Yah·weh

לְשָֽׁרְתוֹ֙

lə·šā·rə·ṯōw

to minister to Him

וּלְבָרֵ֣ךְ

ū·lə·ḇā·rêḵ

and to bless

､ בִּשְׁמ֔וֹ

biš·mōw,

in His name ､

עַ֖ד

‘aḏ

to

הַיּ֥וֹם

hay·yō·wm

. הַזֶּֽה׃

haz·zeh.

עַל־

‘al-

כֵּ֞ן

kên

לֹֽא־

lō-

הָיָ֧ה

לְלֵוִ֛י

lə·lê·wî

חֵ֥לֶק

ḥê·leq

וְנַחֲלָ֖ה

wə·na·ḥă·lāh

nor inheritance

עִם־

‘im-

with

– אֶחָ֑יו

’e·ḥāw;

his brothers –

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

ה֣וּא

hū

is

､ נַחֲלָת֔וֹ

na·ḥă·lā·ṯōw,

his inheritance ､

כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר

ka·’ă·šer

דִּבֶּ֛ר

dib·ber

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā

. לֽוֹ׃

lōw.

וְאָנֹכִ֞י

wə·’ā·nō·ḵî

And I

עָמַ֣דְתִּי

‘ā·maḏ·tî

､ בָהָ֗ר

ḇā·hār,

in the mountain ､

､ כַּיָּמִים֙

kay·yā·mîm

as at the time ､

הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים

hā·ri·šō·nîm,

אַרְבָּעִ֣ים

’ar·bā·‘îm

י֔וֹם

yō·wm,

וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים

wə·’ar·bā·‘îm

– לָ֑יְלָה

lā·yə·lāh;

וַיִּשְׁמַ֨ע

way·yiš·ma‘

יְהוָ֜ה

Yah·weh

אֵלַ֗י

’ê·lay,

me

､ גַּ֚ם

gam

also ､

בַּפַּ֣עַם

bap·pa·‘am

הַהִ֔וא

ha·hi·w,

לֹא־

lō-

not

אָבָ֥ה

’ā·ḇāh

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

[and] Yahweh

. הַשְׁחִיתֶֽךָ׃

haš·ḥî·ṯe·ḵā.

to destroy you .

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And said

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֵלַ֔י

’ê·lay,

to me

､ ק֛וּם

qūm

לֵ֥ךְ

lêḵ

לְמַסַּ֖ע

lə·mas·sa‘

לִפְנֵ֣י

lip̄·nê

､ הָעָ֑ם

hā·‘ām;

the people ､

וְיָבֹ֙אוּ֙

wə·yā·ḇō·’ū

that they may go in

וְיִֽרְשׁ֣וּ

wə·yir·šū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the land ､

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתִּי

niš·ba‘·tî

לַאֲבֹתָ֖ם

la·’ă·ḇō·ṯām

to their fathers

לָתֵ֥ת

lā·ṯêṯ

. לָהֶֽם׃

lā·hem.

A Call to Obedience

､ וְעַתָּה֙

wə·‘at·tāh

Now ､

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

מָ֚ה

māh

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

שֹׁאֵ֖ל

šō·’êl

מֵעִמָּ֑ךְ

mê·‘im·māḵ;

of you

כִּ֣י

kî

אִם־

’im-

but

לְ֠יִרְאָה

lə·yir·’āh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יְהוָ֨ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā

לָלֶ֤כֶת

lā·le·ḵeṯ

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

in all

､ דְּרָכָיו֙

də·rā·ḵāw

וּלְאַהֲבָ֣ה

ū·lə·’a·hă·ḇāh

and to love

אֹת֔וֹ

’ō·ṯōw,

וְלַֽעֲבֹד֙

wə·la·‘ă·ḇōḏ

and to serve

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

with all

לְבָבְךָ֖

lə·ḇā·ḇə·ḵā

וּבְכָל־

ū·ḇə·ḵāl

and with all

､ נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃

nap̄·še·ḵā.

לִשְׁמֹ֞ר

liš·mōr

[and] to keep

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

מִצְוֺ֤ת

miṣ·wōṯ

the commandments

､ יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ חֻקֹּתָ֔יו

ḥuq·qō·ṯāw,

His statutes ､

אֲשֶׁ֛ר

’ă·šer

אָנֹכִ֥י

’ā·nō·ḵî

I

מְצַוְּךָ֖

mə·ṣaw·wə·ḵā

הַיּ֑וֹם

hay·yō·wm;

לְט֖וֹב

lə·ṭō·wḇ

؟ לָֽךְ׃

lāḵ.

､ הֵ֚ן

hên

לַיהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

belong to Yahweh

､ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim

וּשְׁמֵ֣י

ū·šə·mê

הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

haš·šā·mā·yim;

הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and [also] with all

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

that [is]

. בָּֽהּ׃

bāh.

in it .

רַ֧ק

בַּאֲבֹתֶ֛יךָ

ba·’ă·ḇō·ṯe·ḵā

in your fathers

חָשַׁ֥ק

ḥā·šaq

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

לְאַהֲבָ֣ה

lə·’a·hă·ḇāh

אוֹתָ֑ם

’ō·w·ṯām;

וַיִּבְחַ֞ר

way·yiḇ·ḥar

and He chose

בְּזַרְעָ֣ם

bə·zar·‘ām

their descendants

אַחֲרֵיהֶ֗ם

’a·ḥă·rê·hem,

בָּכֶ֛ם

bā·ḵem

מִכָּל־

mik·kāl

､ הָעַמִּ֖ים

hā·‘am·mîm

כַּיּ֥וֹם

kay·yō·wm

as [it is] day

. הַזֶּה׃‪‬

haz·zeh.

וּמַלְתֶּ֕ם

ū·mal·tem

Therefore circumcise

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

עָרְלַ֣ת

‘ā·rə·laṯ

､ לְבַבְכֶ֑ם

lə·ḇaḇ·ḵem;

of your heart ､

. וְעָ֨רְפְּכֶ֔ם

wə·‘ā·rə·pə·ḵem,

and .

לֹ֥א

lō

תַקְשׁ֖וּ

ṯaq·šū

be stiff-necked

. עֽוֹד׃

‘ō·wḏ.

כִּ֚י

kî

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem,

ה֚וּא

hū

is

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

’ĕ·lō·hê

､ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm,

of gods ､

וַאֲדֹנֵ֖י

wa·’ă·ḏō·nê

and Lord

הָאֲדֹנִ֑ים

hā·’ă·ḏō·nîm;

､ הָאֵ֨ל

hā·’êl

the God ､

הַגָּדֹ֤ל

hag·gā·ḏōl

､ הַגִּבֹּר֙

hag·gib·bōr

､ וְהַנּוֹרָ֔א

wə·han·nō·w·rā,

and awesome ､

אֲשֶׁר֙

’ă·šer

לֹא־

lō-

not

יִשָּׂ֣א

yiś·śā

､ פָנִ֔ים

p̄ā·nîm,

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

יִקַּ֖ח

yiq·qaḥ

. שֹֽׁחַד׃

šō·ḥaḏ.

עֹשֶׂ֛ה

‘ō·śeh

מִשְׁפַּ֥ט

miš·paṭ

יָת֖וֹם

yā·ṯō·wm

､ וְאַלְמָנָ֑ה

wə·’al·mā·nāh;

and the widow ､

וְאֹהֵ֣ב

wə·’ō·hêḇ

､ גֵּ֔ר

gêr,

the stranger ､

לָ֥תֶת

lā·ṯeṯ

ל֖וֹ

lōw

לֶ֥חֶם

le·ḥem

. וְשִׂמְלָֽה׃

wə·śim·lāh.

וַאֲהַבְתֶּ֖ם

wa·’ă·haḇ·tem

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הַגֵּ֑ר

hag·gêr;

the stranger ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

גֵרִ֥ים

ḡê·rîm

הֱיִיתֶ֖ם

hĕ·yî·ṯem

בְּאֶ֥רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

. מִצְרָֽיִם׃

miṣ·rā·yim.

of Egypt .

אֶת־

’eṯ-

יְהוָ֧ה

Yah·weh

– אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā

תִּירָ֖א

tî·rā

אֹת֣וֹ

’ō·ṯōw

､ תַעֲבֹ֑ד

ṯa·‘ă·ḇōḏ;

you shall serve ､

וּב֣וֹ

ū·ḇōw

and to Him

､ תִדְבָּ֔ק

ṯiḏ·bāq,

you shall hold fast ､

וּבִשְׁמ֖וֹ

ū·ḇiš·mōw

and in His name

. תִּשָּׁבֵֽעַ׃

tiš·šā·ḇê·a‘.

He [is]

､ תְהִלָּתְךָ֖

ṯə·hil·lā·ṯə·ḵā

your praise ､

וְה֣וּא

wə·hū

and He [is]

､ אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā;

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

עָשָׂ֣ה

‘ā·śāh

אִתְּךָ֗

’it·tə·ḵā,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הַגְּדֹלֹ֤ת

hag·gə·ḏō·lōṯ

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַנּֽוֹרָאֹת֙

han·nō·w·rā·’ōṯ

awesome things ､

הָאֵ֔לֶּה

hā·’êl·leh,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

רָא֖וּ

rā·’ū

. עֵינֶֽיךָ׃

‘ê·ne·ḵā.

בְּשִׁבְעִ֣ים

bə·šiḇ·‘îm

– נֶ֔פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš,

יָרְד֥וּ

yā·rə·ḏū

אֲבֹתֶ֖יךָ

’ă·ḇō·ṯe·ḵā

מִצְרָ֑יְמָהּ‪‬‪‬

miṣ·rā·yə·māh;

וְעַתָּ֗ה

wə·‘at·tāh,

שָֽׂמְךָ֙

śā·mə·ḵā

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

כְּכוֹכְבֵ֥י

kə·ḵō·wḵ·ḇê

as the stars

הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim

. לָרֹֽב׃

lā·rōḇ.
