And when had come ､

הַחֹ֣דֶשׁ

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י

וּבְנֵ֥י

ū·ḇə·nê

and the sons

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

of Israel [were]

､ בֶּעָרִ֑ים

be·‘ā·rîm;

in the cities ､

and gathered together

and his brothers ､

וַיִּבְנ֕וּ

way·yiḇ·nū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

מִזְבַּ֖ח

miz·baḥ

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

’ĕ·lō·hê

of the God

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel ､

לְהַעֲל֤וֹת

lə·ha·‘ă·lō·wṯ

､ עָלָיו֙

‘ā·lāw

on it ､

עֹל֔וֹת

‘ō·lō·wṯ,

burnt offerings

כַּכָּת֕וּב

kak·kā·ṯūḇ

as [it is] written

בְּתוֹרַ֖ת

bə·ṯō·w·raṯ

in the Law

מֹשֶׁ֥ה

mō·šeh

אִישׁ־

’îš-

. הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm.

of the God .

וַיָּכִ֤ינוּ

way·yā·ḵî·nū

הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙

ham·miz·bê·aḥ

עַל־

‘al-

on

– מְכ֣וֹנֹתָ֔יו

mə·ḵō·w·nō·ṯāw,

כִּ֚י

kî

בְּאֵימָ֣ה

bə·’ê·māh

fear [had come]

עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם

‘ă·lê·hem,

מֵעַמֵּ֖י

mê·‘am·mê

because of the people

– הָאֲרָצ֑וֹת

hā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ;

of those countries –

[ויעל]

way·ya·‘al

(וַיַּעֲל֨וּ‪‬)

way·ya·‘ă·lū

and they offered

עָלָ֤יו

‘ā·lāw

on it

עֹלוֹת֙

‘ō·lō·wṯ

burnt offerings

､ לַֽיהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

to Yahweh ､

עֹל֖וֹת

‘ō·lō·wṯ

[both] burnt offerings

לַבֹּ֥קֶר

lab·bō·qer

. וְלָעָֽרֶב׃

wə·lā·‘ā·reḇ.

וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֛וּ

way·ya·‘ă·śū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

חַ֥ג

ḥaḡ

､ הַסֻּכּ֖וֹת

has·suk·kō·wṯ

of Tabernacles ､

､ כַּכָּת֑וּב

kak·kā·ṯūḇ;

as [it is] written ､

וְעֹלַ֨ת

wə·‘ō·laṯ

and [offered] the burnt offerings

בְּיוֹם֙

bə·yō·wm

､ בְּמִסְפָּ֔ר

bə·mis·pār,

in the number ､

､ כְּמִשְׁפַּ֖ט

kə·miš·paṭ

דְּבַר־

də·ḇar-

. בְּיוֹמֽוֹ׃

bə·yō·w·mōw.

וְאַחֲרֵיכֵ֞ן

wə·’a·ḥă·rê·ḵên

､ עֹלַ֤ת

‘ō·laṯ

[they offered] the burnt offering ､

תָּמִיד֙

tā·mîḏ

､ וְלֶ֣חֳדָשִׁ֔ים

wə·le·ḥo·ḏā·šîm,

and [those] for New Moons ､

וּלְכָל־

ū·lə·ḵāl-

מוֹעֲדֵ֥י

mō·w·‘ă·ḏê

the appointed feasts

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

､ הַמְקֻדָּשִׁ֑ים

ham·qud·dā·šîm;

that were consecrated ､

וּלְכֹ֛ל

ū·lə·ḵōl

and [those] of everyone

מִתְנַדֵּ֥ב

miṯ·nad·dêḇ

who willingly offered

נְדָבָ֖ה

nə·ḏā·ḇāh

a freewill offering

. לַיהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

מִיּ֤וֹם

mî·yō·wm

אֶחָד֙

’e·ḥāḏ

לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš

of the month

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י

haš·šə·ḇî·‘î,

הֵחֵ֕לּוּ

לְהַעֲל֥וֹת

burnt offerings

לַיהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

and although of the temple

יְהוָ֖ה

the foundation had been laid .

וַיִּ֨תְּנוּ־

way·yit·tə·nū-

כֶ֔סֶף

ḵe·sep̄,

､ לַחֹצְבִ֖ים

la·ḥō·ṣə·ḇîm

to the masons ､

– וְלֶחָרָשִׁ֑ים

wə·le·ḥā·rā·šîm;

and the carpenters –

､ וּמַאֲכָ֨ל

ū·ma·’ă·ḵāl

and food ､

､ וּמִשְׁתֶּ֜ה

ū·miš·teh

and drink ､

､ וָשֶׁ֗מֶן

wā·še·men,

and oil ､

､ לַצִּֽדֹנִים֙

laṣ·ṣi·ḏō·nîm

to the Sidonians ､

､ וְלַצֹּרִ֔ים

wə·laṣ·ṣō·rîm,

and Tyre ､

לְהָבִיא֩

lə·hā·ḇî

עֲצֵ֨י

‘ă·ṣê

אֲרָזִ֤ים

’ă·rā·zîm

מִן־

min-

הַלְּבָנוֹן֙

hal·lə·ḇā·nō·wn

אֶל־

’el-

to

יָ֣ם

yām

the sea to

､ יָפ֔וֹא

כְּרִשְׁי֛וֹן

according to the permission from

and the Levites ､

וְכָל־

הַבָּאִים֙

those who had come

מֵהַשְּׁבִ֣י

out of the captivity

– יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם

yə·rū·šā·lim,

to Jerusalem –

וַיַּעֲמִ֣ידוּ

way·ya·‘ă·mî·ḏū

אֶת־

､ הַלְוִיִּ֗ם

hal·wî·yim,

the Levites ､

מִבֶּ֨ן

mib·ben

עֶשְׂרִ֤ים

‘eś·rîm

שָׁנָה֙

､ וָמַ֔עְלָה

wā·ma‘·lāh,

and above ､

לְנַצֵּ֖חַ

lə·naṣ·ṣê·aḥ

עַל־

the work

of the house

לְנַצֵּ֛חַ

עַל־

‘al-

עֹשֵׂ֥ה

‘ō·śêh

הַמְּלָאכָ֖ה

ham·mə·lā·ḵāh

בְּבֵ֣ית

bə·ḇêṯ

on the house

. הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים

hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm;

of God .

The sons

of Henadad ､

בְּנֵיהֶ֥ם

[with] their sons

and their brothers

. הַלְוִיִּֽם׃

hal·wî·yim.

וְיִסְּד֥וּ

wə·yis·sə·ḏū

And when laid the foundation

הַבֹּנִ֖ים

hab·bō·nîm

אֶת־

’eṯ-

of

הֵיכַ֣ל

hê·ḵal

､ יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

of Yahweh ､

וַיַּעֲמִידוּ֩

way·ya·‘ă·mî·ḏū

הַכֹּהֲנִ֨ים

hak·kō·hă·nîm

מְלֻבָּשִׁ֜ים

mə·lub·bā·šîm

in their apparel

､ בַּחֲצֹֽצְר֗וֹת

ba·ḥă·ṣō·ṣə·rō·wṯ,

with trumpets ､

וְהַלְוִיִּ֤ם

wə·hal·wî·yim

and the Levites

בְּנֵֽי־

bə·nê-

the sons

אָסָף֙

’ā·sāp̄

､ בַּֽמְצִלְתַּ֔יִם

bam·ṣil·ta·yim,

with cymbals ､

לְהַלֵּל֙

lə·hal·lêl

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

עַל־

‘al-

יְדֵ֖י

yə·ḏê

דָּוִ֥יד

dā·wîḏ

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

yiś·rā·’êl.

וַֽ֠יַּעֲנוּ

way·ya·‘ă·nū

And they sang responsively

בְּהַלֵּ֨ל

bə·hal·lêl

וּבְהוֹדֹ֤ת

ū·ḇə·hō·w·ḏōṯ

and giving thanks

– לַֽיהוָה֙

Yah·weh

to Yahweh –

כִּ֣י

kî

､ ט֔וֹב

ṭō·wḇ,

[He is] good ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

לְעוֹלָ֥ם

lə·‘ō·w·lām

חַסְדּ֖וֹ

ḥas·dōw

His mercy [endures]

עַל־

‘al-

. יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

And all

הָעָ֡ם

hā·‘ām

הֵרִיעוּ֩

hê·rî·‘ū

､ תְרוּעָ֨ה‪‬

ṯə·rū·‘āh

with a shout ､

גְדוֹלָ֤ה

ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh

בְהַלֵּל֙

ḇə·hal·lêl

when they praised

､ לַֽיהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

עַ֖ל

‘al

הוּסַ֥ד

hū·saḏ

the foundation was laid

בֵּית־

bêṯ-

of the house

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

But many

of the priests

וְהַלְוִיִּם֩

､ הָאָב֜וֹת

hā·’ā·ḇō·wṯ

of the fathers' [houses] ､

､ הַזְּקֵנִ֗ים

haz·zə·qê·nîm,

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

רָא֜וּ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

､ הַבַּ֤יִת

hab·ba·yiṯ

the temple ､

הָֽרִאשׁוֹן֙

בְּיָסְד֔וֹ

when the foundation was laid

ḇə·śim·ḥāh

לְהָרִ֥ים

lə·hā·rîm

. קֽוֹל׃

So that not

הָעָ֗ם

hā·‘ām,

מַכִּירִים֙

mak·kî·rîm

ק֚וֹל

תְּרוּעַ֣ת

tə·rū·‘aṯ

of the shout

הַשִּׂמְחָ֔ה

haś·śim·ḥāh,

of joy

לְק֖וֹל

lə·qō·wl

בְּכִ֣י

bə·ḵî

of the weeping

､ הָעָ֑ם

hā·‘ām;

of the people ､

כִּ֣י

kî

הָעָ֗ם

hā·‘ām,

מְרִיעִים֙

mə·rî·‘îm

､ תְּרוּעָ֣ה

tə·rū·‘āh

with a shout ､

גְדוֹלָ֔ה

וְהַקּ֥וֹל

and the sound

נִשְׁמַ֖ע

עַד־

. לְמֵרָחֽוֹק׃
