מַשָּׂ֖א

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

. חָזָ֔ה

יְשַׁעְיָ֖הוּ

yə·ša‘·yā·hū

בֶּן־

ben-

. אָמֽוֹץ׃

’ā·mō·wṣ.

of Amoz .

עַ֤ל

‘al

On

､ הַר־

har-

the mountain ､

נִשְׁפֶּה֙

niš·peh

שְֽׂאוּ־

śə·’ū-

נֵ֔ס

nês,

הָרִ֥ימוּ

hā·rî·mū

ק֖וֹל

qō·wl

לָהֶ֑ם

lā·hem;

הָנִ֣יפוּ

hā·nî·p̄ū

､ יָ֔ד

yāḏ,

וְיָבֹ֖אוּ

wə·yā·ḇō·’ū

that they may enter

פִּתְחֵ֥י

piṯ·ḥê

. נְדִיבִֽים׃

nə·ḏî·ḇîm.

of the nobles .

אֲנִ֥י

’ă·nî

I

צִוֵּ֖יתִי

ṣiw·wê·ṯî

､ לִמְקֻדָּשָׁ֑י

lim·qud·dā·šāy;

My sanctified ones ､

גַּ֣ם

gam

קָרָ֤אתִי

qā·rā·ṯî

גִבּוֹרַי֙

ḡib·bō·w·ray

､ לְאַפִּ֔י

lə·’ap·pî,

for My anger ､

עַלִּיזֵ֖י

‘al·lî·zê

Those who rejoice

. גַּאֲוָתִֽי׃

ga·’ă·wā·ṯî.

in My exaltation .

ק֥וֹל

qō·wl

הָמ֛וֹן

hā·mō·wn

､ בֶּֽהָרִ֖ים

be·hā·rîm

in the mountains ､

דְּמ֣וּת

də·mūṯ

– עַם־

‘am-

of people –

רָ֑ב

rāḇ;

ק֠וֹל

qō·wl

שְׁא֞וֹן

šə·’ō·wn

מַמְלְכ֤וֹת

mam·lə·ḵō·wṯ

of the kingdoms

גּוֹיִם֙

gō·w·yim

– נֶֽאֱסָפִ֔ים

ne·’ĕ·sā·p̄îm,

gathered together –

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

צְבָא֔וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ,

מְפַקֵּ֖ד

mə·p̄aq·qêḏ

צְבָ֥א

ṣə·ḇā

. מִלְחָמָֽה׃

mil·ḥā·māh.

בָּאִ֛ים

bā·’îm

. מֵאֶ֥רֶץ

mê·’e·reṣ

from a country .

מֶרְחָ֖ק

mer·ḥāq

מִקְצֵ֣ה

miq·ṣêh

､ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

haš·šā·mā·yim;

of heaven ､

､ יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

וּכְלֵ֣י

ū·ḵə·lê

､ זַעְמ֔וֹ

za‘·mōw,

of His indignation ､

לְחַבֵּ֖ל

lə·ḥab·bêl

כָּל־

kāl-

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

the land .

הֵילִ֕ילוּ

hê·lî·lū

כִּ֥י

kî

– קָר֖וֹב

qā·rō·wḇ

[is] at hand –

י֣וֹם

yō·wm

the day

יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

כְּשֹׁ֖ד

kə·šōḏ

מִשַּׁדַּ֥י

miš·šad·day

from the Almighty

. יָבֽוֹא׃

yā·ḇō·w.

it will come .

עַל־

‘al-

כֵּ֖ן

kên

כָּל־

kāl-

יָדַ֣יִם

yā·ḏa·yim

､ תִּרְפֶּ֑ינָה

tir·pe·nāh;

will be limp ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

לְבַ֥ב

lə·ḇaḇ

אֱנ֖וֹשׁ

’ĕ·nō·wōš

of man

. יִמָּס׃‪‬

yim·mās

will melt .

､ וְֽנִבְהָ֓לוּ ׀

wə·niḇ·hā·lū

And they will be afraid ､

צִירִ֤ים

ṣî·rîm

וַֽחֲבָלִים֙

wa·ḥă·ḇā·lîm

יֹֽאחֵז֔וּן

yō·ḥê·zūn,

will take hold of [them]

､ כַּיּוֹלֵדָ֖ה

kay·yō·w·lê·ḏāh

as a woman in childbirth ､

יְחִיל֑וּן

yə·ḥî·lūn;

they will be in pain

אִ֤ישׁ

’îš

אֶל־

’el-

at

– רֵעֵ֙הוּ֙

rê·‘ê·hū

יִתְמָ֔הוּ

yiṯ·mā·hū,

they will be amazed

פְּנֵ֥י

pə·nê

לְהָבִ֖ים

lə·hā·ḇîm

. פְּנֵיהֶֽם׃

pə·nê·hem.

their faces [will be] .

､ הִנֵּ֤ה

hin·nêh

יוֹם־

yō·wm-

the day

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

､ בָּ֔א

bā,

אַכְזָרִ֥י

’aḵ·zā·rî

וְעֶבְרָ֖ה

wə·‘eḇ·rāh

and both with wrath

וַחֲר֣וֹן

wa·ḥă·rō·wn

､ אָ֑ף

’āp̄;

לָשׂ֤וּם

lā·śūm

to lay

הָאָ֙רֶץ֙

hā·’ā·reṣ

the land

– לְשַׁמָּ֔ה

lə·šam·māh,

וְחַטָּאֶ֖יהָ

wə·ḥaṭ·ṭā·’e·hā

יַשְׁמִ֥יד

yaš·mîḏ

He will destroy

. מִמֶּֽנָּה׃

mim·men·nāh.

from it .

כִּֽי־

kî-

כוֹכְבֵ֤י

ḵō·wḵ·ḇê

הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙

haš·šā·ma·yim

of the heaven

וּכְסִ֣ילֵיהֶ֔ם

ū·ḵə·sî·lê·hem,

and their constellations

לֹ֥א

lō

not

יָהֵ֖לּוּ

yā·hêl·lū

will give

– אוֹרָ֑ם

’ō·w·rām;

their light –

חָשַׁ֤ךְ

ḥā·šaḵ

will be darkened

הַשֶּׁ֙מֶשׁ֙

haš·še·meš

the sun

､ בְּצֵאת֔וֹ

bə·ṣê·ṯōw,

in its going forth ､

וְיָרֵ֖חַ

wə·yā·rê·aḥ

and the moon

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

יַגִּ֥יהַ

yag·gî·ha

will cause to shine

. אוֹרֽוֹ׃

’ō·w·rōw.

וּפָקַדְתִּ֤י

ū·p̄ā·qaḏ·tî

And I will punish

עַל־

‘al-

תֵּבֵל֙

tê·ḇêl

､ רָעָ֔ה

rā·‘āh,

for [its] evil ､

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and

רְשָׁעִ֖ים

rə·šā·‘îm

– עֲוֺנָ֑ם

‘ă·wō·nām;

for their iniquity –

､ וְהִשְׁבַּתִּי֙

wə·hiš·bat·tî

and I will halt ､

גְּא֣וֹן

gə·’ō·wn

זֵדִ֔ים

zê·ḏîm,

of the presumptuous

וְגַאֲוַ֥ת

wə·ḡa·’ă·waṯ

and the haughtiness

עָרִיצִ֖ים

‘ā·rî·ṣîm

of the terrible

. אַשְׁפִּֽיל׃

’aš·pîl.

will lay low .

אוֹקִ֥יר

’ō·w·qîr

I will make more rare

אֱנ֖וֹשׁ

’ĕ·nō·wōš

– מִפָּ֑ז

mip·pāz;

than fine gold –

וְאָדָ֖ם

wə·’ā·ḏām

and a man

מִכֶּ֥תֶם

mik·ke·ṯem

more than the gold

. אוֹפִֽיר׃

’ō·w·p̄îr.

of Ophir .

עַל־

‘al-

כֵּן֙

kên

､ שָׁמַ֣יִם

šā·ma·yim

the heavens ､

אַרְגִּ֔יז

’ar·gîz,

I will shake

וְתִרְעַ֥שׁ

wə·ṯir·‘aš

and will move

הָאָ֖רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

､ מִמְּקוֹמָ֑הּ

mim·mə·qō·w·māh;

out of her place ､

בְּעֶבְרַת֙

bə·‘eḇ·raṯ

in the wrath

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ צְבָא֔וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ,

of hosts ､

וּבְי֖וֹם

ū·ḇə·yō·wm

and in the day

חֲר֥וֹן

ḥă·rō·wn

. אַפּֽוֹ׃

’ap·pōw.

וְהָיָה֙

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall be

､ כִּצְבִ֣י

kiṣ·ḇî

as the gazelle ､

מֻדָּ֔ח

mud·dāḥ,

וּכְצֹ֖אן

ū·ḵə·ṣōn

and as a sheep

וְאֵ֣ין

wə·’ên

– מְקַבֵּ֑ץ

mə·qab·bêṣ;

takes up –

אִ֤ישׁ

’îš

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ עַמּוֹ֙

‘am·mōw

his own people ､

יִפְנ֔וּ

yip̄·nū,

will turn

וְאִ֥ישׁ

wə·’îš

אֶל־

’el-

to

אַרְצ֖וֹ

’ar·ṣōw

. יָנֽוּסוּ׃

yā·nū·sū.

will flee .

כָּל־

kāl-

הַנִּמְצָ֖א

han·nim·ṣā

– יִדָּקֵ֑ר

yid·dā·qêr;

will be thrust through –

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

הַנִּסְפֶּ֖ה

han·nis·peh

who is captured

יִפּ֥וֹל

yip·pō·wl

will fall

. בֶּחָֽרֶב׃

be·ḥā·reḇ.

by the sword .

וְעֹלְלֵיהֶ֥ם

wə·‘ō·lə·lê·hem

And their children

יְרֻטְּשׁ֖וּ

yə·ruṭ·ṭə·šū

will be dashed to pieces

– לְעֵֽינֵיהֶ֑ם

lə·‘ê·nê·hem;

before their eyes –

､ יִשַּׁ֙סּוּ֙

yiš·šas·sū

will be plundered ､

בָּֽתֵּיהֶ֔ם

bāt·tê·hem,

וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֖ם

ū·nə·šê·hem

and their wives

[תשגלנה]

tiš·šā·ḡal·nāh

-

. (תִּשָּׁכַֽבְנָה׃)

tiš·šā·ḵaḇ·nāh.

הִנְנִ֛י

hin·nî

מֵעִ֥יר

mê·‘îr

I will stir up

עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם

‘ă·lê·hem

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

מָדָ֑י

mā·ḏāy;

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

– כֶּ֙סֶף֙

ke·sep̄

לֹ֣א

lō

not

יַחְשֹׁ֔בוּ

yaḥ·šō·ḇū,

､ וְזָהָ֖ב

wə·zā·hāḇ

and [as for] gold ､

לֹ֥א

lō

not

יַחְפְּצוּ־

yaḥ·pə·ṣū-

they will delight

. בֽוֹ׃

ḇōw.

in it .

וּקְשָׁת֖וֹת

ū·qə·šā·ṯō·wṯ

And [their] bows

נְעָרִ֣ים

nə·‘ā·rîm

תְּרַטַּ֑שְׁנָה

tə·raṭ·ṭaš·nāh;

will dash to pieces

וּפְרִי־

ū·p̄ə·rî-

and the fruit

– בֶ֙טֶן֙

ḇe·ṭen

of the womb –

לֹ֣א

lō

no

יְרַחֵ֔מוּ

yə·ra·ḥê·mū,

they will have pity on

עַל־

‘al-

on

. בָּנִ֖ים

bā·nîm

לֹֽא־

lō-

Not

תָח֥וּס

ṯā·ḥūs

will spare

. עֵינָֽם׃

‘ê·nām.

וְהָיְתָ֤ה

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

And will be

､ בָבֶל֙

ḇā·ḇel

צְבִ֣י

ṣə·ḇî

､ מַמְלָכ֔וֹת

mam·lā·ḵō·wṯ,

of kingdoms ､

תִּפְאֶ֖רֶת

tip̄·’e·reṯ

､ גְּא֣וֹן

gə·’ō·wn

of the pride ､

כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים

kaś·dîm;

כְּמַהְפֵּכַ֣ת

kə·mah·pê·ḵaṯ

as when overthrew

אֱלֹהִ֔ים

’ĕ·lō·hîm,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

סְדֹ֖ם

sə·ḏōm

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

. עֲמֹרָֽה׃

‘ă·mō·rāh.

לֹֽא־

lō-

､ תֵשֵׁ֣ב

ṯê·šêḇ

it will be inhabited ､

לָנֶ֔צַח

lā·ne·ṣaḥ,

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

תִשְׁכֹּ֖ן

ṯiš·kōn

will it be settled

עַד־

‘aḏ-

דּ֣וֹר

dō·wr

– וָד֑וֹר

wā·ḏō·wr;

and generation –

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

יַהֵ֥ל

ya·hêl

will pitch tents

– שָׁם֙

šām

עֲרָבִ֔י

‘ă·rā·ḇî,

וְרֹעִ֖ים

wə·rō·‘îm

and the shepherds

לֹא־

lō-

יַרְבִּ֥צוּ

yar·bi·ṣū

will make their sheepfolds

. שָֽׁם׃

šām.

וְרָבְצוּ־

wə·rā·ḇə·ṣū-

But will lie

– שָׁ֣ם

šām

צִיִּ֔ים

ṣî·yîm,

wild beasts of the desert

וּמָלְא֥וּ

ū·mā·lə·’ū

and will be full

בָתֵּיהֶ֖ם

ḇāt·tê·hem

of their houses

– אֹחִ֑ים

’ō·ḥîm;

owls –

וְשָׁ֤כְנוּ

wə·šā·ḵə·nū

and will dwell

､ שָׁם֙

šām

בְּנ֣וֹת

bə·nō·wṯ

יַֽעֲנָ֔ה

ya·‘ă·nāh,

וּשְׂעִירִ֖ים

ū·śə·‘î·rîm

יְרַקְּדוּ־

yə·raq·qə·ḏū-

will caper

. שָֽׁם׃

šām.

וְעָנָ֤ה

wə·‘ā·nāh

And will howl

אִיִּים֙

’î·yîm

､ בְּאַלְמנוֹתָ֔יו‪‬

bə·’al·m·nō·w·ṯāw,

in their citadels ､

וְתַנִּ֖ים

wə·ṯan·nîm

. בְּהֵ֣יכְלֵי

bə·hê·ḵə·lê

in their palaces .

עֹ֑נֶג

‘ō·neḡ;

וְקָר֤וֹב

wə·qā·rō·wḇ

and [is] near

､ לָבוֹא֙

lā·ḇō·w

to come ､

עִתָּ֔הּ

‘it·tāh,

וְיָמֶ֖יהָ

wə·yā·me·hā

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. יִמָּשֵֽׁכוּ׃

yim·mā·šê·ḵū.

will be prolonged .
