כִּי֩

kî

יְרַחֵ֨ם

yə·ra·ḥêm

will have mercy

יְהוָ֜ה

Yah·weh

אֶֽת־

’eṯ-

on

､ יַעֲקֹ֗ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ,

וּבָחַ֥ר

ū·ḇā·ḥar

and will choose

עוֹד֙

‘ō·wḏ

､ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

bə·yiś·rā·’êl,

וְהִנִּיחָ֖ם

wə·hin·nî·ḥām

and settle them

עַל־

‘al-

in

､ אַדְמָתָ֑ם

’aḏ·mā·ṯām;

their own land ､

וְנִלְוָ֤ה

wə·nil·wāh

and will be joined

הַגֵּר֙

hag·gêr

עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם

‘ă·lê·hem,

with them

וְנִסְפְּח֖וּ

wə·nis·pə·ḥū

and they will cling

עַל־

‘al-

to

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

. יַעֲקֹֽב׃

ya·‘ă·qōḇ.

of Jacob .

וּלְקָח֣וּם

ū·lə·qā·ḥūm

And will take them

עַמִּים֮

‘am·mîm

וֶהֱבִיא֣וּם

we·hĕ·ḇî·’ūm

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ מְקוֹמָם֒

mə·qō·w·mām

their place ､

וְהִֽתְנַחֲל֣וּם

wə·hiṯ·na·ḥă·lūm

and will possess them

בֵּֽית־

bêṯ-

יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

yiś·rā·’êl,

עַ֚ל

‘al

in

אַדְמַ֣ת

’aḏ·maṯ

the land

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

לַעֲבָדִ֖ים

la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm

– וְלִשְׁפָח֑וֹת

wə·liš·p̄ā·ḥō·wṯ;

and maids –

וְהָיוּ֙

wə·hā·yū

and they will take them

､ שֹׁבִ֣ים

šō·ḇîm

לְשֹֽׁבֵיהֶ֔ם

lə·šō·ḇê·hem,

whose captives they were

וְרָד֖וּ

wə·rā·ḏū

and rule

. בְּנֹגְשֵׂיהֶֽם׃

bə·nō·ḡə·śê·hem.

over their oppressors .

וְהָיָ֗ה

wə·hā·yāh,

And it shall come to pass

בְּי֨וֹם

bə·yō·wm

in the day

הָנִ֤יחַ

hā·nî·aḥ

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

לְךָ֔

lə·ḵā,

､ מֵֽעָצְבְּךָ֖

mê·‘ā·ṣə·bə·ḵā

from your sorrow ､

､ וּמֵרָגְזֶ֑ךָ

ū·mê·rā·ḡə·ze·ḵā;

and from your fear ､

､ וּמִן־

ū·min-

and ､

הָעֲבֹדָ֥ה

hā·‘ă·ḇō·ḏāh

הַקָּשָׁ֖ה

haq·qā·šāh

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

､ עֻבַּד־

‘ub·baḏ-

were made to serve ､

. בָּֽךְ׃

bāḵ.

וְנָשָׂ֜אתָ

wə·nā·śā·ṯā

That you will take up

הַמָּשָׁ֥ל

ham·mā·šāl

הַזֶּ֛ה

haz·zeh

עַל־

‘al-

מֶ֥לֶךְ

me·leḵ

the king

､ בָּבֶ֖ל

bā·ḇel

of Babylon ､

､ וְאָמָ֑רְתָּ

wə·’ā·mā·rə·tā;

and say ､

אֵ֚יךְ

’êḵ

! שָׁבַ֣ת

šā·ḇaṯ

נֹגֵ֔שׂ

nō·ḡêś,

! שָׁבְתָ֖ה

šā·ḇə·ṯāh

. מַדְהֵבָֽה׃

maḏ·hê·ḇāh.

the golden city .

שָׁבַ֥ר

šā·ḇar

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

מַטֵּ֣ה

maṭ·ṭêh

､ רְשָׁעִ֑ים

rə·šā·‘îm;

of the wicked ､

שֵׁ֖בֶט

šê·ḇeṭ

. מֹשְׁלִֽים׃

mō·šə·lîm.

of the rulers .

מַכֶּ֤ה

mak·keh

עַמִּים֙

‘am·mîm

בְּעֶבְרָ֔ה

bə·‘eḇ·rāh,

מַכַּ֖ת

mak·kaṯ

with a stroke

､ בִּלְתִּ֣י

bil·tî

with unceasing ､

סָרָ֑ה

sā·rāh;

רֹדֶ֤ה

rō·ḏeh

､ בָאַף֙

ḇā·’ap̄

in anger ､

גּוֹיִ֔ם

gō·w·yim,

､ מֻרְדָּ֖ף

mur·dāp̄

is persecuted ､

בְּלִ֥י

bə·lî

[and] no one

. חָשָֽׂךְ׃

ḥā·śāḵ.

､ נָ֥חָה

nā·ḥāh

Is at rest ､

– שָׁקְטָ֖ה

šā·qə·ṭāh

[and] quiet –

כָּל־

kāl-

הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

פָּצְח֖וּ

pā·ṣə·ḥū

they break forth

. רִנָּֽה׃

rin·nāh.

､ גַּם־

gam-

בְּרוֹשִׁ֛ים

bə·rō·wō·šîm

the cypress trees

שָׂמְח֥וּ

śā·mə·ḥū

לְךָ֖

lə·ḵā

אַרְזֵ֣י

’ar·zê

[And] the cedars

､ לְבָנ֑וֹן

lə·ḇā·nō·wn;

of Lebanon ､

מֵאָ֣ז

mê·’āz

､ שָׁכַ֔בְתָּ

šā·ḵaḇ·tā,

you were cut down ､

לֹֽא־

lō-

יַעֲלֶ֥ה

ya·‘ă·leh

הַכֹּרֵ֖ת

hak·kō·rêṯ

. עָלֵֽינוּ׃

‘ā·lê·nū.

שְׁא֗וֹל

šə·’ō·wl,

מִתַּ֛חַת

mit·ta·ḥaṯ

רָגְזָ֥ה

rā·ḡə·zāh

לְךָ֖

lə·ḵā

לִקְרַ֣את

liq·raṯ

– בּוֹאֶ֑ךָ

bō·w·’e·ḵā;

at your coming –

עוֹרֵ֨ר

‘ō·w·rêr

it stirs up

לְךָ֤

lə·ḵā

רְפָאִים֙

rə·p̄ā·’îm

the dead

כָּל־

kāl-

עַתּ֣וּדֵי

‘at·tū·ḏê

– אָ֔רֶץ

’ā·reṣ,

of the earth –

הֵקִים֙

hê·qîm

it has raised up

מִכִּסְאוֹתָ֔ם

mik·kis·’ō·w·ṯām,

from their thrones

כֹּ֖ל

kōl

מַלְכֵ֥י

mal·ḵê

. גוֹיִֽם׃

ḡō·w·yim.

of the nations .

כֻּלָּ֣ם

kul·lām

יַֽעֲנ֔וּ

ya·‘ă·nū,

they shall speak

וְיֹאמְר֖וּ

wə·yō·mə·rū

and say

אֵלֶ֑יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā;

to you

גַּם־

gam-

אַתָּ֛ה

’at·tāh

חֻלֵּ֥יתָ

ḥul·lê·ṯā

have become weak

כָמ֖וֹנוּ

ḵā·mō·w·nū

as we

אֵלֵ֥ינוּ

’ê·lê·nū

us

. נִמְשָֽׁלְתָּ׃

nim·šā·lə·tā.

have you become like .

הוּרַ֥ד

hū·raḏ

Is brought down

､ שְׁא֛וֹל

šə·’ō·wl

to Sheol ､

גְּאוֹנֶ֖ךָ

ḡə·’ō·w·ne·ḵā

הֶמְיַ֣ת

hem·yaṯ

[And] the sound

– נְבָלֶ֑יךָ

nə·ḇā·le·ḵā;

of your stringed instruments –

תַּחְתֶּ֙יךָ֙

taḥ·te·ḵā

יֻצַּ֣ע

yuṣ·ṣa‘

רִמָּ֔ה

rim·māh,

וּמְכַסֶּ֖יךָ

ū·mə·ḵas·se·ḵā

. תּוֹלֵעָֽה׃

tō·w·lê·‘āh.

אֵ֛יךְ

’êḵ

נָפַ֥לְתָּ

nā·p̄al·tā

､ מִשָּׁמַ֖יִם

miš·šā·ma·yim

from heaven ､

､ הֵילֵ֣ל

hê·lêl

בֶּן־

ben-

! שָׁ֑חַר

šā·ḥar;

of the morning !

נִגְדַּ֣עְתָּ

niḡ·da‘·tā

[How] you are cut down

､ לָאָ֔רֶץ

lā·’ā·reṣ,

to the ground ､

חוֹלֵ֖שׁ

ḥō·w·lêš

You who weakened

עַל־

‘al-

on

! גּוֹיִֽם׃

gō·w·yim.

וְאַתָּ֞ה

wə·’at·tāh

אָמַ֤רְתָּ

’ā·mar·tā

､ בִֽלְבָבְךָ֙

ḇil·ḇā·ḇə·ḵā

in your heart ､

､ הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim

into heaven ､

אֶֽעֱלֶ֔ה

’e·‘ĕ·leh,

I will ascend

מִמַּ֥עַל

mim·ma·‘al

לְכֽוֹכְבֵי־

lə·ḵō·wḵ·ḇê-

､ אֵ֖ל

’êl

of God ､

אָרִ֣ים

’ā·rîm

I will exalt

כִּסְאִ֑י

kis·’î;

וְאֵשֵׁ֥ב

wə·’ê·šêḇ

and I will sit

בְּהַר־

bə·har-

on the mount

､ מוֹעֵ֖ד

mō·w·‘êḏ

of the congregation ､

בְּיַרְכְּתֵ֥י

bə·yar·kə·ṯê

On the farthest sides

. צָפֽוֹן׃

ṣā·p̄ō·wn.

of the north .

אֶעֱלֶ֖ה

’e·‘ĕ·leh

I will ascend

עַל־

‘al-

בָּ֣מֳתֵי

bā·mo·ṯê

– עָ֑ב

‘āḇ;

of the clouds –

אֶדַּמֶּ֖ה

’ed·dam·meh

I will be like

. לְעֶלְיֽוֹן׃

lə·‘el·yō·wn.

the Most High .

אַ֧ךְ

’aḵ

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ שְׁא֛וֹל

šə·’ō·wl

תּוּרָ֖ד

tū·rāḏ

you shall be brought down

אֶל־

’el-

to

יַרְכְּתֵי־

yar·kə·ṯê-

the lowest depths

. בֽוֹר׃

ḇō·wr.

of the Pit .

רֹאֶ֙יךָ֙

rō·’e·ḵā

אֵלֶ֣יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā

יַשְׁגִּ֔יחוּ

yaš·gî·ḥū,

will gaze

אֵלֶ֖יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā

at you

יִתְבּוֹנָ֑נוּ

yiṯ·bō·w·nā·nū;

[And] consider you [saying]

הֲזֶ֤ה

hă·zeh

[Is] this

הָאִישׁ֙

hā·’îš

the man

､ מַרְגִּ֣יז

mar·gîz

who made tremble ､

הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

מַרְעִ֖ישׁ

mar·‘îš

– מַמְלָכֽוֹת׃

mam·lā·ḵō·wṯ.

שָׂ֥ם

śām

תֵּבֵ֛ל

tê·ḇêl

､ כַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר

kam·miḏ·bār

as a wilderness ､

וְעָרָ֣יו

wə·‘ā·rāw

הָרָ֑ס

hā·rās;

؟ אֲסִירָ֖יו

’ă·sî·rāw

his prisoners' ؟

לֹא־

lō-

not

פָ֥תַח

p̄ā·ṯaḥ

. בָּֽיְתָה׃

bā·yə·ṯāh.

the house of .

כָּל־

kāl-

מַלְכֵ֥י

mal·ḵê

､ גוֹיִ֖ם

ḡō·w·yim

of the nations ､

כֻּלָּ֑ם

kul·lām;

שָׁכְב֥וּ

šā·ḵə·ḇū

､ בְכָב֖וֹד

ḇə·ḵā·ḇō·wḏ

in glory ､

אִ֥ישׁ

’îš

. בְּבֵיתֽוֹ׃

bə·ḇê·ṯōw.

in his own house .

וְאַתָּ֞ה

wə·’at·tāh

But you

הָשְׁלַ֤כְתָּ

hā·šə·laḵ·tā

מִֽקִּבְרְךָ֙

miq·qiḇ·rə·ḵā

､ כְּנֵ֣צֶר

kə·nê·ṣer

Like branch ､

נִתְעָ֔ב

niṯ·‘āḇ,

לְב֥וּשׁ

lə·ḇūš

[Like] the garment

､ הֲרֻגִ֖ים

hă·ru·ḡîm

of those who are slain ､

מְטֹ֣עֲנֵי

mə·ṭō·‘ă·nê

､ חָ֑רֶב

ḥā·reḇ;

with a sword ､

יוֹרְדֵ֥י

yō·wr·ḏê

אֶל־

’el-

to

אַבְנֵי־

’aḇ·nê-

– ב֖וֹר

ḇō·wr

of the pit –

כְּפֶ֥גֶר

kə·p̄e·ḡer

. מוּבָֽס׃

mū·ḇās.

trodden underfoot .

לֹֽא־

lō-

Not

תֵחַ֤ד

ṯê·ḥaḏ

You will be joined

אִתָּם֙

’it·tām

with them

､ בִּקְבוּרָ֔ה

biq·ḇū·rāh,

in burial ､

כִּֽי־

kî-

､ אַרְצְךָ֥

’ar·ṣə·ḵā

שִׁחַ֖תָּ

ši·ḥa·tā

you have destroyed

. עַמְּךָ֣

‘am·mə·ḵā

הָרָ֑גְתָּ

hā·rā·ḡə·tā;

[And] slain

לֹֽא־

lō-

. יִקָּרֵ֥א

yiq·qā·rê

shall be named .

לְעוֹלָ֖ם

lə·‘ō·w·lām

זֶ֥רַע

ze·ra‘

. מְרֵעִֽים׃

mə·rê·‘îm.

הָכִ֧ינוּ

hā·ḵî·nū

לְבָנָ֛יו

lə·ḇā·nāw

for his children

מַטְבֵּ֖חַ

maṭ·bê·aḥ

בַּעֲוֺ֣ן

ba·‘ă·wōn

because of the iniquity

– אֲבוֹתָ֑ם

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām;

of their fathers –

בַּל־

bal-

､ יָקֻ֙מוּ֙

yā·qu·mū

they rise up ､

וְיָ֣רְשׁוּ

wə·yā·rə·šū

､ אָ֔רֶץ

’ā·reṣ,

the land ､

וּמָלְא֥וּ

ū·mā·lə·’ū

and fill

פְנֵֽי־

p̄ə·nê-

the face

תֵבֵ֖ל

ṯê·ḇêl

of the world

. עָרִֽים׃

‘ā·rîm.

with cities .

וְקַמְתִּ֣י

wə·qam·tî

For I will rise up

עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם

‘ă·lê·hem,

נְאֻ֖ם

nə·’um

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ צְבָא֑וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ;

of hosts ､

וְהִכְרַתִּ֨י

wə·hiḵ·rat·tî

לְבָבֶ֜ל

lə·ḇā·ḇel

､ שֵׁ֥ם

šêm

the name ､

､ וּשְׁאָ֛ר

ū·šə·’ār

and remnant ､

､ וְנִ֥ין

wə·nîn

and offspring ､

､ וָנֶ֖כֶד

wā·ne·ḵeḏ

and posterity ､

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְשַׂמְתִּ֛יהָ

wə·śam·tî·hā

And I will make it

לְמוֹרַ֥שׁ

lə·mō·w·raš

a possession for

､ קִפֹּ֖ד

qip·pōḏ

the porcupine ､

וְאַגְמֵי־

wə·’aḡ·mê-

､ מָ֑יִם

mā·yim;

of [muddy] water ､

וְטֵֽאטֵאתִ֙יהָ֙

wə·ṭê·ṭê·ṯî·hā

and I will sweep it

בְּמַטְאֲטֵ֣א

bə·maṭ·’ă·ṭê

with the broom

､ הַשְׁמֵ֔ד

haš·mêḏ,

of destruction ､

נְאֻ֖ם

nə·’um

יְהוָ֥ה

Yah·weh

. צְבָאֽוֹת׃

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ.

of hosts .

､ לֵאמֹ֑ר

לֹ֞א

כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר

as

､ דִּמִּ֙יתִי֙

dim·mî·ṯî

I have thought ､

כֵּ֣ן

kên

so

– הָיָ֔תָה

hā·yā·ṯāh,

it shall come to pass –

וְכַאֲשֶׁ֥ר

wə·ḵa·’ă·šer

and as

､ יָעַ֖צְתִּי

yā·‘aṣ·tî

I have purposed ､

הִ֥יא

hî

[so] it

､ תָקֽוּם׃

ṯā·qūm.

shall stand ､

לִשְׁבֹּ֤ר

liš·bōr

that I will break

אַשּׁוּר֙

’aš·šūr

､ בְּאַרְצִ֔י

bə·’ar·ṣî,

in My land ､

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and on

הָרַ֖י

hā·ray

– אֲבוּסֶ֑נּוּ

’ă·ḇū·sen·nū;

tread him underfoot –

וְסָ֤ר

wə·sār

and shall be removed

מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶם֙

mê·‘ă·lê·hem

עֻלּ֔וֹ

‘ul·lōw,

וְסֻ֨בֳּל֔וֹ

wə·sub·bo·lōw,

מֵעַ֥ל

mê·‘al

שִׁכְמ֖וֹ

šiḵ·mōw

their shoulders

. יָסֽוּר׃

yā·sūr.

זֹ֛את

zōṯ

This [is]

הָעֵצָ֥ה

hā·‘ê·ṣāh

הַיְּעוּצָ֖ה

hay·yə·‘ū·ṣāh

that is purposed

עַל־

‘al-

כָּל־

kāl-

– הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

the earth –

וְזֹ֛את

wə·zōṯ

and this [is]

הַיָּ֥ד

hay·yāḏ

the hand

הַנְּטוּיָ֖ה

han·nə·ṭū·yāh

that is stretched out

עַל־

‘al-

כָּל־

kāl-

. הַגּוֹיִֽם׃

hag·gō·w·yim.

כִּֽי־

kî-

יְהוָ֧ה

Yah·weh

צְבָא֛וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ

､ יָעָ֖ץ

yā·‘āṣ

has purposed ､

וּמִ֣י

ū·mî

and who

יָפֵ֑ר

yā·p̄êr;

will annul [it]

וְיָד֥וֹ

wə·yā·ḏōw

､ הַנְּטוּיָ֖ה

han·nə·ṭū·yāh

[is] stretched out ､

וּֽמִ֥י

ū·mî

and who

؟ יְשִׁיבֶֽנָּה׃

yə·šî·ḇen·nāh.

will turn it back ؟

Philistia will Be Destroyed

בִּשְׁנַת־

biš·naṯ-

in the year

מ֖וֹת

mō·wṯ

הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

אָחָ֑ז

’ā·ḥāz;

הָיָ֖ה

hā·yāh

הַמַּשָּׂ֥א

ham·maś·śā

. הַזֶּֽה׃

haz·zeh.

this [is] .

אַֽל־

’al-

Do not

תִּשְׂמְחִ֤י

tiś·mə·ḥî

､ פְלֶ֙שֶׁת֙

p̄ə·le·šeṯ

כֻּלֵּ֔ךְ

kul·lêḵ,

כִּ֥י

kî

– נִשְׁבַּ֖ר

niš·bar

is broken –

שֵׁ֣בֶט

šê·ḇeṭ

the rod

מַכֵּ֑ךְ

mak·kêḵ;

that struck you

כִּֽי־

kî-

מִשֹּׁ֤רֶשׁ

miš·šō·reš

out of the roots

נָחָשׁ֙

nā·ḥāš

יֵ֣צֵא

yê·ṣê

will come forth

､ צֶ֔פַע

ṣe·p̄a‘,

a viper ､

וּפִרְי֖וֹ

ū·p̄ir·yōw

and its offspring [will be]

שָׂרָ֥ף

śā·rāp̄

a fiery serpent

. מְעוֹפֵֽף׃

mə·‘ō·w·p̄êp̄.

､ וְרָעוּ֙

wə·rā·‘ū

And will feed ､

בְּכוֹרֵ֣י

bə·ḵō·w·rê

דַלִּ֔ים

ḏal·lîm,

of the poor

וְאֶבְיוֹנִ֖ים

wə·’eḇ·yō·w·nîm

and the needy

– לָבֶ֣טַח

lā·ḇe·ṭaḥ

in safety –

יִרְבָּ֑צוּ

yir·bā·ṣū;

וְהֵמַתִּ֤י

wə·hê·mat·tî

and I will kill

､ בָֽרָעָב֙

ḇā·rā·‘āḇ

with famine ､

שָׁרְשֵׁ֔ךְ

šā·rə·šêḵ,

וּשְׁאֵרִיתֵ֖ךְ

ū·šə·’ê·rî·ṯêḵ

and your remnant

. יַהֲרֹֽג׃

ya·hă·rōḡ.

it will slay .

､ הֵילִ֤ילִֽי

hê·lî·lî

Wail ､

– שַׁ֙עַר֙

ša·‘ar

gate –

､ זַֽעֲקִי־

za·‘ă·qî-

Cry ､

– עִ֔יר

‘îr,

city –

– נָמ֖וֹג

nā·mō·wḡ

[are] dissolved –

､ פְּלֶ֣שֶׁת

pə·le·šeṯ

כֻּלֵּ֑ךְ

kul·lêḵ;

כִּ֤י

kî

מִצָּפוֹן֙

miṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn

､ עָשָׁ֣ן

‘ā·šān

בָּ֔א

bā,

will come

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and no one [will be]

בּוֹדֵ֖ד

bō·w·ḏêḏ

. בְּמוֹעָדָֽיו׃

bə·mō·w·‘ā·ḏāw.

in his appointed times .

וּמַֽה־

ū·mah-

And what

יַּעֲנֶ֖ה

ya·‘ă·neh

will they answer

מַלְאֲכֵי־

mal·’ă·ḵê-

؟ ג֑וֹי

ḡō·w;

of the nation ؟

כִּ֤י

kî

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

יִסַּ֣ד

yis·saḏ

､ צִיּ֔וֹן

ṣî·yō·wn,

Zion ､

וּבָ֥הּ

ū·ḇāh

and in it

יֶחֱס֖וּ

ye·ḥĕ·sū

shall take refuge

עֲנִיֵּ֥י

‘ă·nî·yê

the poor

. עַמּֽוֹ׃

‘am·mōw.

of His people .
