Invitation to the Needy

､ ה֤וֹי

Ho ､

כָּל־

kāl-

､ צָמֵא֙

ṣā·mê

who thirsts ､

לְכ֣וּ

lə·ḵū

､ לַמַּ֔יִם

lam·ma·yim,

to the waters ､

וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר

wa·’ă·šer

and

אֵֽין־

’ên-

ל֖וֹ

lōw

– כָּ֑סֶף

kā·sep̄;

לְכ֤וּ

lə·ḵū

､ שִׁבְרוּ֙

šiḇ·rū

buy ､

– וֶֽאֱכֹ֔לוּ

we·’ĕ·ḵō·lū,

and eat –

､ וּלְכ֣וּ

ū·lə·ḵū

and Yes come ､

שִׁבְר֗וּ

šiḇ·rū,

בְּלוֹא־

bə·lō·w-

כֶ֛סֶף

ḵe·sep̄

וּבְל֥וֹא

ū·ḇə·lō·w

מְחִ֖יר

mə·ḥîr

יַ֥יִן

ya·yin

. וְחָלָֽב׃

wə·ḥā·lāḇ.

and milk .

לָ֤מָּה

lām·māh

תִשְׁקְלוּ־

ṯiš·qə·lū-

כֶ֙סֶף֙

ḵe·sep̄

בְּֽלוֹא־

bə·lō·w-

for not

؟ לֶ֔חֶם

le·ḥem,

[what is] bread ؟

וִיגִיעֲכֶ֖ם

wî·ḡî·‘ă·ḵem

؟ בְּל֣וֹא

bə·lō·w

for not ؟

לְשָׂבְעָ֑ה

lə·śā·ḇə·‘āh;

[what] does satisfy

שִׁמְע֨וּ

šim·‘ū

שָׁמ֤וֹעַ

šā·mō·w·a‘

אֵלַי֙

’ê·lay

to Me

וְאִכְלוּ־

wə·’iḵ·lū-

and eat

､ ט֔וֹב

ṭō·wḇ,

[what is] good ､

וְתִתְעַנַּ֥ג

wə·ṯiṯ·‘an·naḡ

and let delight itself

בַּדֶּ֖שֶׁן

bad·de·šen

. נַפְשְׁכֶֽם׃

nap̄·šə·ḵem.

הַטּ֤וּ

haṭ·ṭū

､ אָזְנְכֶם֙

’ā·zə·nə·ḵem

וּלְכ֣וּ

ū·lə·ḵū

and come

אֵלַ֔י

’ê·lay,

to Me

､ שִׁמְע֖וּ

šim·‘ū

Hear ､

– וּתְחִ֣י

ū·ṯə·ḥî

and shall live –

נַפְשְׁכֶ֑ם

nap̄·šə·ḵem;

וְאֶכְרְתָ֤ה

wə·’eḵ·rə·ṯāh

and I will make

לָכֶם֙

lā·ḵem

with you

בְּרִ֣ית

bə·rîṯ

עוֹלָ֔ם

‘ō·w·lām,

חַֽסְדֵ֥י

ḥas·ḏê

דָוִ֖ד

ḏā·wiḏ

. הַנֶּאֱמָנִֽים׃

han·ne·’ĕ·mā·nîm.

the sure .

､ הֵ֛ן

hên

עֵ֥ד

‘êḏ

[as] a witness

､ לְאוּמִּ֖ים

lə·’ūm·mîm

to the people ､

נְתַתִּ֑יו

nə·ṯat·tîw;

I have given him

נָגִ֥יד

nā·ḡîḏ

וּמְצַוֵּ֖ה

ū·mə·ṣaw·wêh

. לְאֻמִּֽים׃

lə·’um·mîm.

for the people .

､ הֵ֣ן

hên

גּ֤וֹי

gō·w

､ לֹֽא־

lō-

not ､

תֵדַע֙

ṯê·ḏa‘

תִּקְרָ֔א

tiq·rā,

וְג֥וֹי

wə·ḡō·w

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

יְדָע֖וּךָ

yə·ḏā·‘ū·ḵā

[who] do know you

אֵלֶ֣יךָ

’ê·le·ḵā

to you

יָר֑וּצוּ

yā·rū·ṣū;

לְמַ֙עַן֙

lə·ma·‘an

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā,

וְלִקְד֥וֹשׁ

wə·liq·ḏō·wōš

and the Holy one

– יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

of Israel –

כִּ֥י

kî

. פֵאֲרָֽךְ׃

p̄ê·’ă·rāḵ.

He has glorified you .

דִּרְשׁ֥וּ

dir·šū

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

､ בְּהִמָּצְא֑וֹ

bə·him·mā·ṣə·’ōw;

while He may be found ､

קְרָאֻ֖הוּ

qə·rā·’u·hū

בִּֽהְיוֹת֥וֹ

bih·yō·w·ṯōw

while He is

. קָרֽוֹב׃

qā·rō·wḇ.

יַעֲזֹ֤ב

ya·‘ă·zōḇ

רָשָׁע֙

rā·šā‘

､ דַּרְכּ֔וֹ

dar·kōw,

וְאִ֥ישׁ

wə·’îš

and the man

אָ֖וֶן

’ā·wen

– מַחְשְׁבֹתָ֑יו

maḥ·šə·ḇō·ṯāw;

his thoughts –

וְיָשֹׁ֤ב

wə·yā·šōḇ

and let him return

אֶל־

’el-

to

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

וִֽירַחֲמֵ֔הוּ

wî·ra·ḥă·mê·hū,

and He will have mercy on him

וְאֶל־

wə·’el-

and to

､ אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū

כִּֽי־

kî-

יַרְבֶּ֥ה

yar·beh

He will abundantly

. לִסְלֽוֹחַ׃

lis·lō·w·aḥ.

כִּ֣י

kî

לֹ֤א

lō

not

מַחְשְׁבוֹתַי֙

maḥ·šə·ḇō·w·ṯay

My thoughts [are]

､ מַחְשְׁב֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם

maḥ·šə·ḇō·w·ṯê·ḵem,

your thoughts ､

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

דַרְכֵיכֶ֖ם

ḏar·ḵê·ḵem

[are] your ways

､ דְּרָכָ֑י

də·rā·ḵāy;

My ways ､

נְאֻ֖ם

nə·’um

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

כִּֽי־

kî-

גָבְה֥וּ

ḡā·ḇə·hū

שָׁמַ֖יִם

šā·ma·yim

[as] the heavens

､ מֵאָ֑רֶץ

mê·’ā·reṣ;

than the earth ､

כֵּ֣ן

kên

so

גָּבְה֤וּ

gā·ḇə·hū

דְרָכַי֙

ḏə·rā·ḵay

､ מִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֔ם

mid·dar·ḵê·ḵem,

than your ways ､

וּמַחְשְׁבֹתַ֖י

ū·maḥ·šə·ḇō·ṯay

and My thoughts

. מִמַּחְשְׁבֹתֵיכֶֽם׃

mim·maḥ·šə·ḇō·ṯê·ḵem.

than your thoughts .

כִּ֡י

kî

כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

､ יֵרֵד֩

yê·rêḏ

הַגֶּ֨שֶׁם

hag·ge·šem

the rain

וְהַשֶּׁ֜לֶג

wə·haš·še·leḡ

and the snow

מִן־

min-

､ הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim,

､ וְשָׁ֙מָּה֙

wə·šām·māh

and there ､

לֹ֣א

lō

not

יָשׁ֔וּב

yā·šūḇ,

כִּ֚י

kî

אִם־

’im-

but

הִרְוָ֣ה

hir·wāh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the earth ､

וְהוֹלִידָ֖הּ

wə·hō·w·lî·ḏāh

and make it bring forth

､ וְהִצְמִיחָ֑הּ

wə·hiṣ·mî·ḥāh;

and bud ､

וְנָ֤תַן

wə·nā·ṯan

that it may give

זֶ֙רַע֙

ze·ra‘

､ לַזֹּרֵ֔עַ

laz·zō·rê·a‘,

to the sower ､

וְלֶ֖חֶם

wə·le·ḥem

– לָאֹכֵֽל׃

lā·’ō·ḵêl.

to the eater –

כֵּ֣ן

kên

so

יִֽהְיֶ֤ה

yih·yeh

דְבָרִי֙

ḏə·ḇā·rî

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

יֵצֵ֣א

yê·ṣê

– מִפִּ֔י

mip·pî,

from My mouth –

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

יָשׁ֥וּב

yā·šūḇ

it shall return

אֵלַ֖י

’ê·lay

to Me

､ רֵיקָ֑ם

rê·qām;

void ､

כִּ֤י

kî

אִם־

’im-

but

עָשָׂה֙

‘ā·śāh

it shall accomplish

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ חָפַ֔צְתִּי

ḥā·p̄aṣ·tî,

I please ､

וְהִצְלִ֖יחַ

wə·hiṣ·lî·aḥ

and it shall prosper [in the thing]

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

. שְׁלַחְתִּֽיו׃

šə·laḥ·tîw.

I sent it .

כִּֽי־

kî-

､ בְשִׂמְחָ֣ה

ḇə·śim·ḥāh

with joy ､

תֵצֵ֔אוּ

ṯê·ṣê·’ū,

you shall go out

– וּבְשָׁל֖וֹם

ū·ḇə·šā·lō·wm

and with peace –

תּֽוּבָל֑וּן

tū·ḇā·lūn;

הֶהָרִ֣ים

he·hā·rîm

וְהַגְּבָע֗וֹת

wə·hag·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ,

and the hills

יִפְצְח֤וּ

yip̄·ṣə·ḥū

shall break forth

לִפְנֵיכֶם֙

lip̄·nê·ḵem

､ רִנָּ֔ה

rin·nāh,

into singing ､

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

עֲצֵ֥י

‘ă·ṣê

הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה

haś·śā·ḏeh

of the field

יִמְחֲאוּ־

yim·ḥă·’ū-

. כָֽף׃

ḵāp̄.

[their] hands .

תַּ֤חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

הַֽנַּעֲצוּץ֙

han·na·‘ă·ṣūṣ

of the thorn

יַעֲלֶ֣ה

ya·‘ă·leh

､ בְר֔וֹשׁ

ḇə·rō·wōš,

the cypress tree ､

[תחת]

ṯa·ḥaṯ

-

(וְתַ֥חַת)

wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ

and instead of

הַסִּרְפַּ֖ד

has·sir·paḏ

יַעֲלֶ֣ה

ya·‘ă·leh

– הֲדַ֑ס

hă·ḏas;

the myrtle tree –

וְהָיָ֤ה

wə·hā·yāh

and it shall be

לַֽיהוָה֙

Yah·weh

､ לְשֵׁ֔ם

lə·šêm,

for a name ､

לְא֥וֹת

lə·’ō·wṯ

עוֹלָ֖ם

‘ō·w·lām

לֹ֥א

lō

not

. יִכָּרֵֽת׃

yik·kā·rêṯ.

[that] shall be cut off .
