of Israel ､

וְהֵ֖מָּה

and they

שְׂרִ֣ידֵי

חָ֑רֶב

הָל֥וֹךְ

hā·lō·wḵ

. לְהַרְגִּיע֖וֹ

lə·har·gî·‘ōw

to give him rest .

､ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

מֵרָח֕וֹק

mê·rā·ḥō·wq

of old

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

נִרְאָ֣ה

nir·’āh

לִ֑י

lî;

to me

– וְאַהֲבַ֤ת

wə·’a·hă·ḇaṯ

and with love –

עוֹלָם֙

‘ō·w·lām

אֲהַבְתִּ֔יךְ

’ă·haḇ·tîḵ,

[saying] Yes I have loved you

עַל־

‘al-

כֵּ֖ן

kên

מְשַׁכְתִּ֥יךְ

mə·šaḵ·tîḵ

I have drawn you

. חָֽסֶד׃

ḥā·seḏ.

with lovingkindness .

ע֤וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

אֶבְנֵךְ֙

’eḇ·nêḵ

I will build you

､ וְֽנִבְנֵ֔ית

wə·niḇ·nêṯ,

and you shall be rebuilt ､

בְּתוּלַ֖ת

bə·ṯū·laṯ

! יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

ע֚וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

תַּעְדִּ֣י

ta‘·dî

You shall be adorned

､ תֻפַּ֔יִךְ

ṯup·pa·yiḵ,

with your tambourines ､

וְיָצָ֖את

wə·yā·ṣāṯ

and shall go forth

בִּמְח֥וֹל

bim·ḥō·wl

in the dances

. מְשַׂחֲקִֽים׃

mə·śa·ḥă·qîm.

of those who rejoice .

ע֚וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

תִּטְּעִ֣י

tiṭ·ṭə·‘î

You shall plant

כְרָמִ֔ים

ḵə·rā·mîm,

בְּהָרֵ֖י

bə·hā·rê

on the mountains

– שֹֽׁמְר֑וֹן

šō·mə·rō·wn;

of Samaria –

נָטְע֥וּ

nā·ṭə·‘ū

､ נֹטְעִ֖ים

nō·ṭə·‘îm

shall plant ､

. וְחִלֵּֽלוּ׃

wə·ḥil·lê·lū.

and eat [them] as ordinary food .

יֶשׁ־

､ י֔וֹם

yō·wm,

a day ､

､ קָרְא֥וּ

qā·rə·’ū

will cry ､

נֹצְרִ֖ים

nō·ṣə·rîm

[when] the watchmen

בְּהַ֣ר

אֶפְרָ֑יִם

ק֚וּמוּ

וְנַעֲלֶ֣ה

wə·na·‘ă·leh

and let us go up

צִיּ֔וֹן

ṣî·yō·wn,

[to] Zion

among the chief

of the nations –

הַשְׁמִ֤יעוּ

haš·mî·‘ū

הַֽלְלוּ֙

hal·lū

､ וְאִמְר֔וּ

wə·’im·rū,

and say ､

הוֹשַׁ֤ע

hō·wō·ša‘

､ יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֶֽת־

’eṯ-

､ עַמְּךָ֔

‘am·mə·ḵā,

Your people ､

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

שְׁאֵרִ֥ית

šə·’ê·rîṯ

. יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

הִנְנִי֩

hin·nî

מֵבִ֨יא

mê·ḇî

will bring

אוֹתָ֜ם

’ō·w·ṯām

､ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ

mê·’e·reṣ

from the country ､

צָפ֗וֹן

ṣā·p̄ō·wn,

וְקִבַּצְתִּים֮

wə·qib·baṣ·tîm

and gather them

מִיַּרְכְּתֵי־

mî·yar·kə·ṯê-

､ אָרֶץ֒

’ā·reṣ

of the earth ､

בָּ֚ם

bām

עִוֵּ֣ר

‘iw·wêr

､ וּפִסֵּ֔חַ

ū·p̄is·sê·aḥ,

and the lame ､

הָרָ֥ה

hā·rāh

the pregnant woman

וְיֹלֶ֖דֶת

wə·yō·le·ḏeṯ

and the one who labors with child

– יַחְדָּ֑ו

yaḥ·dāw;

קָהָ֥ל

qā·hāl

גָּד֖וֹל

gā·ḏō·wl

יָשׁ֥וּבוּ

yā·šū·ḇū

. הֵֽנָּה׃

hên·nāh.

､ בִּבְכִ֣י

biḇ·ḵî

With weeping ､

יָבֹ֗אוּ

yā·ḇō·’ū,

they shall come

וּֽבְתַחֲנוּנִים֮

ū·ḇə·ṯa·ḥă·nū·nîm

and with supplications

אֽוֹבִילֵם֒

’ō·w·ḇî·lêm

I will lead them

אֽוֹלִיכֵם֙

’ō·w·lî·ḵêm

I will cause them to walk

אֶל־

’el-

by

נַ֣חֲלֵי

na·ḥă·lê

מַ֔יִם

ma·yim,

､ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ

bə·ḏe·reḵ

in a way ､

יָשָׁ֔ר

they shall stumble –

בָּ֑הּ

I am

to Israel ､

לְאָ֔ב

lə·’āḇ,

וְאֶפְרַ֖יִם

בְּכֹ֥רִי

and declare [it]

in the isles

､ מִמֶּרְחָ֑ק

mim·mer·ḥāq;

､ וְאִמְר֗וּ

wə·’im·rū,

and say ､

מְזָרֵ֤ה

mə·zā·rêh

He who scattered

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

יְקַבְּצֶ֔נּוּ

yə·qab·bə·ṣen·nū,

will gather him

וּשְׁמָר֖וֹ

ū·šə·mā·rōw

כְּרֹעֶ֥ה

kə·rō·‘eh

as a shepherd [does]

. עֶדְרֽוֹ׃

‘eḏ·rōw.

of one stronger

Therefore they shall come

וְרִנְּנ֣וּ

and sing

בִמְרוֹם־

ḇim·rō·wm-

in the height

､ צִיּוֹן֒

ṣî·yō·wn

of Zion ､

וְנָהֲר֞וּ

wə·nā·hă·rū

אֶל־

’el-

to

ט֣וּב

ṭūḇ

､ יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

עַל־

‘al-

､ דָּגָן֙

dā·ḡān

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and

､ תִּירֹ֣שׁ

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and

､ יִצְהָ֔ר

yiṣ·hār,

oil ､

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

בְּנֵי־

bə·nê-

צֹ֖אן

ṣōn

of the flock

– וּבָקָ֑ר

ū·ḇā·qār;

and the herd –

וְהָיְתָ֤ה

wə·hā·yə·ṯāh

and shall be

נַפְשָׁם֙

nap̄·šām

– כְּגַ֣ן

kə·ḡan

like a garden –

רָוֶ֔ה

rā·weh,

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and no

יוֹסִ֥יפוּ

yō·w·sî·p̄ū

they shall more

לְדַאֲבָ֖ה

lə·ḏa·’ă·ḇāh

. עֽוֹד׃

‘ō·wḏ.

at all .

אָ֣ז

’āz

תִּשְׂמַ֤ח

tiś·maḥ

בְּתוּלָה֙

bə·ṯū·lāh

､ בְּמָח֔וֹל

bə·mā·ḥō·wl,

in the dance ､

וּבַחֻרִ֥ים

ū·ḇa·ḥu·rîm

and the young men

וּזְקֵנִ֖ים

ū·zə·qê·nîm

and the old

– יַחְדָּ֑ו

yaḥ·dāw;

וְהָפַכְתִּ֨י

wə·hā·p̄aḵ·tî

for I will turn

אֶבְלָ֤ם

’eḇ·lām

､ לְשָׂשׂוֹן֙

lə·śā·śō·wn

to joy ､

וְנִ֣חַמְתִּ֔ים

wə·ni·ḥam·tîm,

and will comfort them

וְשִׂמַּחְתִּ֖ים

wə·śim·maḥ·tîm

and make them rejoice

. מִיגוֹנָֽם׃

mî·ḡō·w·nām.

rather than sorrow .

וְרִוֵּיתִ֛י

wə·riw·wê·ṯî

And I will satiate

נֶ֥פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš

the soul

הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים

hak·kō·hă·nîm

of the priests

､ דָּ֑שֶׁן

dā·šen;

with abundance ､

וְעַמִּ֛י

wə·‘am·mî

and My people

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

､ טוּבִ֥י

ṭū·ḇî

with My goodness ､

יִשְׂבָּ֖עוּ

yiś·bā·‘ū

shall be satisfied

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

to be comforted

her children ､

and they shall come back

מֵאֶ֥רֶץ

mê·’e·reṣ

. אוֹיֵֽב׃

’ō·w·yêḇ.

of the enemy .

וְיֵשׁ־

wə·yêš-

And there is

תִּקְוָ֥ה

tiq·wāh

､ לְאַחֲרִיתֵ֖ךְ

lə·’a·ḥă·rî·ṯêḵ

in your future ､

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

､ יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וְשָׁ֥בוּ

wə·šā·ḇū

that shall come back

בָנִ֖ים

ḇā·nîm

[your] children

. לִגְבוּלָֽם׃

liḡ·ḇū·lām.

to their own border .

bemoaning himself

You have chastised me

､ וָֽאִוָּסֵ֔ר

wā·’iw·wā·sêr,

and I was chastised ､

כְּעֵ֖גֶל

הֲשִׁיבֵ֣נִי

I was instructed ､

I struck myself

the thigh –

､ בֹּ֚שְׁתִּי

I was ashamed ､

וְגַם־

wə·ḡam-

､ נִכְלַ֔מְתִּי

כִּ֥י

נָשָׂ֖אתִי

nā·śā·ṯî

חֶרְפַּ֥ת

. נְעוּרָֽי׃

of my youth .

､ תִּתְחַמָּקִ֔ין

tiṯ·ḥam·mā·qîn,

will you gad about ､

؟ הַבַּ֖ת

hab·baṯ

you daughter ؟

הַשּֽׁוֹבֵבָ֑ה

haš·šō·w·ḇê·ḇāh;

כִּֽי־

בָרָ֨א

יְהוָ֤ה

Yah·weh

חֲדָשָׁה֙

､ בָּאָ֔רֶץ

in the earth ､

shall encompass

בְּאֶ֤רֶץ

in the land

יְהוּדָה֙

וּבְעָרָ֔יו

ū·ḇə·‘ā·rāw,

and in its cities

בְּשׁוּבִ֖י

bə·šū·ḇî

when I bring back

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

– שְׁבוּתָ֑ם

šə·ḇū·ṯām;

their captivity –

יְבָרֶכְךָ֧

yə·ḇā·reḵ·ḵā

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

נְוֵה־

nə·wêh-

､ צֶ֖דֶק

ṣe·ḏeq

of justice ､

הַ֥ר

. הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃

וְיָ֥שְׁבוּ

wə·yā·šə·ḇū

And there shall dwell

בָ֛הּ

ḇāh

יְהוּדָ֥ה

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

עָרָ֖יו

‘ā·rāw

､ יַחְדָּ֑ו

yaḥ·dāw;

､ אִכָּרִ֕ים

’ik·kā·rîm

וְנָסְע֖וּ

wə·nā·sə·‘ū

and those going out

. בַּעֵֽדֶר׃

ba·‘ê·ḏer.

with flocks .

כִּ֥י

kî

הִרְוֵ֖יתִי

hir·wê·ṯî

I have satiated

､ נֶ֣פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš

the soul ､

עֲיֵפָ֑ה

‘ă·yê·p̄āh;

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

נֶ֥פֶשׁ

ne·p̄eš

דָּאֲבָ֖ה

dā·’ă·ḇāh

. מִלֵּֽאתִי׃

mil·lê·ṯî.

I have replenished .

עַל־

‘al-

זֹ֖את

zōṯ

､ הֱקִיצֹ֣תִי

hĕ·qî·ṣō·ṯî

I awoke ､

– וָאֶרְאֶ֑ה

wā·’er·’eh;

and looked around –

וּשְׁנָתִ֖י

ū·šə·nā·ṯî

and my sleep

עָ֥רְבָה

‘ā·rə·ḇāh

. לִּֽי׃

lî.

to me .

the days

that I will sow

with the seed

､ אָדָ֖ם

’ā·ḏām

of man ､

וְזֶ֥רַע

wə·ze·ra‘

and the seed

. בְּהֵמָֽה׃

bə·hê·māh.

of beast .

､ וְהָיָ֞ה

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall come to pass ､

כַּאֲשֶׁ֧ר

ka·’ă·šer

[that] as

שָׁקַ֣דְתִּי

šā·qaḏ·tî

עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם

‘ă·lê·hem,

､ לִנְת֧וֹשׁ

lin·ṯō·wōš

to pluck up ､

､ וְלִנְת֛וֹץ

wə·lin·ṯō·wṣ

and to break down ､

､ וְלַהֲרֹ֖ס

wə·la·hă·rōs

and to throw down ､

and the teeth

are set on edge .

the sour grapes ､

I will put

､ בְּקִרְבָּ֔ם

in their minds ､

וְעַל־

אֶכְתֲּבֶ֑נָּה

וְהָיִ֤יתִי

and I will be
