And I took

his brothers ､

the sons

of the house

הָרֵכָבִ֗ים

hā·rê·ḵā·ḇîm,

of the Rechabites

גְּבִעִ֛ים

gə·ḇi·‘îm

מְלֵאִ֥ים

mə·lê·’îm

､ יַ֖יִן

ya·yin

of wine ､

､ וְכֹס֑וֹת

wə·ḵō·sō·wṯ;

and cups ､

וָאֹמַ֥ר

wā·’ō·mar

and I said

אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם

’ă·lê·hem

שְׁתוּ־

. יָֽיִן׃

､ וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ

way·yō·mə·rū

But they said ､

You shall build

､ וְזֶ֤רַע

and seed ､

לֹֽא־

תִזְרָ֙עוּ֙

ṯiz·rā·‘ū

､ וְכֶ֣רֶם

wə·ḵe·rem

and a vineyard ､

לֹֽא־

lō-

תִטָּ֔עוּ

ṯiṭ·ṭā·‘ū,

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

יִֽהְיֶ֖ה

yih·yeh

לָכֶ֑ם

lā·ḵem;

of [these]

כִּ֠י

but

– בָּאֳהָלִ֤ים

bā·’o·hā·lîm

in tents –

תֵּֽשְׁבוּ֙

tê·šə·ḇū

you shall dwell

כָּל־

kāl-

יְמֵיכֶ֔ם

yə·mê·ḵem,

לְמַ֨עַן

lə·ma·‘an

תִּֽחְי֜וּ

tiḥ·yū

יָמִ֤ים

yā·mîm

רַבִּים֙

rab·bîm

עַל־

‘al-

in

פְּנֵ֣י

pə·nê

-

הָאֲדָמָ֔ה

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh,

the land

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

אַתֶּ֖ם

’at·tem

גָּרִ֥ים

gā·rîm

וַנִּשְׁמַ֗ע

Thus we have obeyed

בְּק֨וֹל

יְהוֹנָדָ֤ב

בֶּן־

ben-

רֵכָב֙

rê·ḵāḇ

אָבִ֔ינוּ

’ā·ḇî·nū,

לְכֹ֖ל

in all

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

צִוָּ֑נוּ

ṣiw·wā·nū;

לְבִלְתִּ֤י

lə·ḇil·tî

שְׁתֽוֹת־

כָּל־

､ יָמֵ֔ינוּ

yā·mê·nū,

､ אֲנַ֣חְנוּ

’ă·naḥ·nū

we ､

､ נָשֵׁ֔ינוּ

nā·šê·nū,

､ בָּנֵ֖ינוּ

bā·nê·nū

– וּבְנֹתֵֽינוּ׃

ū·ḇə·nō·ṯê·nū.

or our daughters –

וּלְבִלְתִּ֛י

ū·lə·ḇil·tî

and to nor

בְּנ֥וֹת

bə·nō·wṯ

build ourselves

בָּתִּ֖ים

bāt·tîm

לְשִׁבְתֵּ֑נוּ

lə·šiḇ·tê·nū;

to dwell in

､ וְכֶ֧רֶם

wə·ḵe·rem

nor vineyard ､

､ וְשָׂדֶ֛ה

wə·śā·ḏeh

and field ､

. וָזֶ֖רַע

wā·ze·ra‘

or seed .

לֹ֥א

יִֽהְיֶה־

yih·yeh-

. לָּֽנוּ׃

lā·nū.

we .

וַנֵּ֖שֶׁב

wan·nê·šeḇ

But we have dwelt

､ בָּֽאֳהָלִ֑ים

bā·’o·hā·lîm;

in tents ､

､ וַנִּשְׁמַ֣ע

wan·niš·ma‘

and have obeyed ､

וַנַּ֔עַשׂ

wan·na·‘aś,

and done

כְּכֹ֥ל

kə·ḵōl

according to all

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

צִוָּ֖נוּ

ṣiw·wā·nū

יוֹנָדָ֥ב

yō·w·nā·ḏāḇ

. אָבִֽינוּ׃

’ā·ḇî·nū.

､ וַיְהִ֗י

way·hî,

But it came to pass ､

בַּעֲל֨וֹת

ba·‘ă·lō·wṯ

נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֥ר

nə·ḇū·ḵaḏ·reṣ·ṣar

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

בָּבֶל֮

bā·ḇel

אֶל־

’el-

､ הָאָרֶץ֒

hā·’ā·reṣ

the land ､

､ וַנֹּ֗אמֶר

wan·nō·mer,

that we said ､

､ בֹּ֚אוּ

bō·’ū

come ､

וְנָב֣וֹא

wə·nā·ḇō·w

and let us go

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם

yə·rū·šā·lim,

מִפְּנֵי֙

mip·pə·nê

חֵ֣יל

ḥêl

of the army

､ הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים

hak·kaś·dîm,

of the Chaldeans ､

וּמִפְּנֵ֖י

ū·mip·pə·nê

חֵ֣יל

ḥêl

of the army

– אֲרָ֑ם

’ă·rām;

of Syria –

וַנֵּ֖שֶׁב

wan·nê·šeḇ

so we dwell

. בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

and tell

לְאִ֣ישׁ

the men

יְהוּדָ֔ה

וּלְיֽוֹשְׁבֵ֖י

and the inhabitants

､ יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

yə·rū·šā·lim;

of Jerusalem ､

הֲל֨וֹא

will not

תִקְח֥וּ

the prophets ､

rising up early

וְשָׁלֹ֣חַ ׀

and sending [them]

､ לֵאמֹ֡ר

שֻׁבוּ־

and your fathers' –

הִטִּיתֶם֙

you have inclined

the doom

אֲשֶׁ֥ר
