not
חָ֥זוּ

؟ יָמָֽיו׃

– גְּבֻל֥וֹת
gə·ḇu·lō·wṯ
יַשִּׂ֑יגוּ
yaś·śî·ḡū;
､ עֵ֥דֶר
‘ê·ḏer
flocks ､
גָּ֝זְל֗וּ
gā·zə·lū,
. וַיִּרְעֽוּ׃
way·yir·‘ū.
and feed [on them] .

חֲמ֣וֹר
ḥă·mō·wr
The donkey
､ יְתוֹמִ֣ים
yə·ṯō·w·mîm
of the fatherless ､
יִנְהָ֑גוּ
yin·hā·ḡū;
יַ֝חְבְּל֗וּ
yaḥ·bə·lū,
שׁ֣וֹר
šō·wr
the ox
. אַלְמָנָֽה׃
’al·mā·nāh.
of widow .

יַטּ֣וּ
yaṭ·ṭū
אֶבְיוֹנִ֣ים
’eḇ·yō·w·nîm
the needy
– מִדָּ֑רֶךְ
mid·dā·reḵ;
off the road –
. יַ֥חַד
ya·ḥaḏ
all .
חֻ֝בְּא֗וּ
ḥub·bə·’ū,
עֲנִיֵּי־
‘ă·nî·yê-
the poor
. אָֽרֶץ׃
’ā·reṣ.
of the land .

､ הֵ֤ן
hên
Indeed ､
פְּרָאִ֨ים ׀
pə·rā·’îm
､ בַּֽמִּדְבָּ֗ר
bam·miḏ·bār,
in the desert ､
יָצְא֣וּ
yā·ṣə·’ū
– בְּ֭פָעֳלָם
bə·p̄ā·‘o·lām
to their work –
מְשַׁחֲרֵ֣י
mə·ša·ḥă·rê
– לַטָּ֑רֶף
laṭ·ṭā·rep̄;
for food –
עֲרָבָ֥ה
‘ă·rā·ḇāh
ל֥וֹ
lōw
לֶ֝֗חֶם
le·ḥem,
. לַנְּעָרִֽים׃
lan·nə·‘ā·rîm.
[and] for [their] children .

– בַּ֭שָּׂדֶה

In the field –
בְּלִיל֣וֹ
bə·lî·lōw
[יקצירו]
yaq·ṣî·rū
-
(יִקְצ֑וֹרוּ)
yiq·ṣō·w·rū;
וְכֶ֖רֶם
wə·ḵe·rem
and in the vineyard
רָשָׁ֣ע
rā·šā‘
of the wicked
. יְלַקֵּֽשׁוּ׃
yə·laq·qê·šū.

עָר֣וֹם
‘ā·rō·wm
יָ֭לִינוּ
yā·lî·nū
מִבְּלִ֣י
mib·bə·lî
､ לְב֑וּשׁ
lə·ḇūš;
וְאֵ֥ין
wə·’ên
and no
כְּ֝ס֗וּת
kə·sūṯ,
. בַּקָּרָֽה׃
baq·qā·rāh.
in the cold .

מִזֶּ֣רֶם
miz·ze·rem
With the showers
､ הָרִ֣ים
hā·rîm
of the mountains ､
יִרְטָ֑בוּ
yir·ṭā·ḇū;
וּֽמִבְּלִ֥י
ū·mib·bə·lî
and for want
מַ֝חְסֶ֗ה
maḥ·seh,
חִבְּקוּ־
ḥib·bə·qū-
. צֽוּר׃
ṣūr.
the rock .

יִ֭גְזְלוּ
yiḡ·zə·lū
､ מִשֹּׁ֣ד
miš·šōḏ
from the breast ､
יָת֑וֹם
yā·ṯō·wm;
וְֽעַל־
wə·‘al-
and from
עָנִ֥י
‘ā·nî
the poor
. יַחְבֹּֽלוּ׃
yaḥ·bō·lū.

עָר֣וֹם
‘ā·rō·wm
הִ֭לְּכוּ
hil·lə·ḵū
they cause [the poor] to go
בְּלִ֣י
bə·lî
､ לְב֑וּשׁ
lə·ḇūš;
וּ֝רְעֵבִ֗ים
ū·rə·‘ê·ḇîm,
and from the hungry
נָ֣שְׂאוּ
nā·śə·’ū
. עֹֽמֶר׃
‘ō·mer.
the sheaves .

בֵּין־
bên-
､ שׁוּרֹתָ֥ם
šū·rō·ṯām
יַצְהִ֑ירוּ
yaṣ·hî·rū;
､ יְקָבִ֥ים
yə·qā·ḇîm
דָּ֝רְכ֗וּ
dā·rə·ḵū,
and tread
. וַיִּצְמָֽאוּ׃
way·yiṣ·mā·’ū.

､ מֵ֘עִ֤יר
mê·‘îr
In the city ､
מְתִ֨ים ׀
mə·ṯîm
the dying
יִנְאָ֗קוּ
yin·’ā·qū,
וְנֶֽפֶשׁ־
wə·ne·p̄eš-
and the souls
חֲלָלִ֥ים
ḥă·lā·lîm
of the wounded
– תְּשַׁוֵּ֑עַ
tə·šaw·wê·a‘;
cry out –
וֶ֝אֱל֗וֹהַּ
we·’ĕ·lō·w·ah,
and yet God
לֹא־
lō-
not
יָשִׂ֥ים
yā·śîm
. תִּפְלָֽה׃
tip̄·lāh.
with wrong .

הֵ֤מָּה ׀

הָיוּ֮

בְּֽמֹרְדֵ֫י־
bə·mō·rə·ḏê-
– א֥וֹר
’ō·wr
the light –
לֹֽא־
lō-
not
הִכִּ֥ירוּ
hik·kî·rū
דְרָכָ֑יו
ḏə·rā·ḵāw;
וְלֹ֥א
wə·lō
יָ֝שְׁב֗וּ
yā·šə·ḇū,
. בִּנְתִיבֹתָֽיו׃
bin·ṯî·ḇō·ṯāw.
in its paths .

With the light
יָ֘ק֤וּם
yā·qūm
רוֹצֵ֗חַ
rō·w·ṣê·aḥ,
יִֽקְטָל־
yiq·ṭāl-
עָנִ֥י
‘ā·nî
the poor
､ וְאֶבְי֑וֹן
wə·’eḇ·yō·wn;
and needy ､
וּ֝בַלַּ֗יְלָה
ū·ḇal·lay·lāh,
and in the night
יְהִ֣י
yə·hî
he is
. כַגַּנָּֽב׃
ḵag·gan·nāḇ.

וְעֵ֤ין
wə·‘ên
And the eye
נֹאֵ֨ף ׀
nō·’êp̄
of the adulterer
שָׁ֤מְרָֽה
šā·mə·rāh
､ נֶ֣שֶׁף
ne·šep̄
the twilight ､
､ לֵ֭אמֹר
lê·mōr
Saying ､
לֹא־
lō-
תְשׁוּרֵ֣נִי
ṯə·šū·rê·nî
will see me
עָ֑יִן
‘ā·yin;
וְסֵ֖תֶר
wə·sê·ṯer
and he disguises
פָּנִ֣ים
pā·nîm
. יָשִֽׂים׃
yā·śîm.
and disguises .

חָתַ֥ר
ḥā·ṯar
בַּחֹ֗שֶׁךְ
ba·ḥō·šeḵ,
in the dark
､ בָּ֫תִּ֥ים
bāt·tîm
houses ､
– יוֹמָ֥ם
yō·w·mām
in the daytime –
חִתְּמוּ־
ḥit·tə·mū-
לָ֗מוֹ
lā·mōw,
לֹא־
lō-
not
יָ֥דְעוּ
yā·ḏə·‘ū
. אֽוֹר׃
’ō·wr.
the light .
17
כִּ֤י
kî
יַחְדָּ֨ו ׀
yaḥ·dāw
is the same
בֹּ֣קֶר
bō·qer
לָ֣מוֹ
lā·mōw
to them
– צַלְמָ֑וֶת
ṣal·mā·weṯ;
as the shadow of death –
כִּֽי־
kî-
if
יַ֝כִּ֗יר
yak·kîr,
בַּלְה֥וֹת
bal·hō·wṯ
[They are in] the terrors
. צַלְמָֽוֶת׃
ṣal·mā·weṯ.
of the shadow of death .

He [should be]
עַל־
‘al-
on
פְּנֵי־
pə·nê-
the face
– מַ֗יִם
ma·yim,
of the waters –
תְּקֻלַּ֣ל
tə·qul·lal
חֶלְקָתָ֣ם
ḥel·qā·ṯām
. בָּאָ֑רֶץ
bā·’ā·reṣ;
in the earth .
לֹֽא־
lō-
[So that] no [one]
יִ֝פְנֶה
yip̄·neh
דֶּ֣רֶךְ
de·reḵ
into the way
. כְּרָמִֽים׃
kə·rā·mîm.

צִיָּ֤ה
ṣî·yāh
גַם־
ḡam-
and
חֹ֗ם
ḥōm,
יִגְזְל֥וּ
yiḡ·zə·lū
､ מֵֽימֵי־
mê·mê-
the waters ､
שֶׁ֗לֶג
še·leḡ,
שְׁא֣וֹל
šə·’ō·wl
[So] the grave
. חָטָֽאוּ׃
ḥā·ṭā·’ū.
20
יִשְׁכָּ֘חֵ֤הוּ
yiš·kā·ḥê·hū
רֶ֨חֶם ׀
re·ḥem
the womb
מְתָ֘ק֤וֹ
mə·ṯā·qōw
רִמָּ֗ה
rim·māh,
the worm
ע֥וֹד
‘ō·wḏ
לֹֽא־
lō-
no
– יִזָּכֵ֑ר
yiz·zā·ḵêr;
He [should] be remembered –
וַתִּשָּׁבֵ֖ר
wat·tiš·šā·ḇêr
and [should] be broken
כָּעֵ֣ץ
kā·‘êṣ
. עַוְלָֽה׃
‘aw·lāh.
21
רֹעֶ֣ה
rō·‘eh
עֲ֭קָרָה
‘ă·qā·rāh
on the barren
– לֹ֣א
lō
not –
תֵלֵ֑ד
ṯê·lêḏ;
[who] do bear
וְ֝אַלְמָנָ֗ה
wə·’al·mā·nāh,
and for the widow
לֹ֣א
lō
no
. יְיֵטִֽיב׃
yə·yê·ṭîḇ.
22
וּמָשַׁ֣ךְ
ū·mā·šaḵ
אַבִּירִ֣ים
’ab·bî·rîm
the mighty
– בְּכֹח֑וֹ
bə·ḵō·ḥōw;
with His power –
､ יָ֝ק֗וּם
yā·qūm,
He rises up ､
וְֽלֹא־
wə·lō-
but no [man]
יַאֲמִ֥ין
ya·’ă·mîn
is sure
. בַּֽחַיִּֽין׃
ba·ḥay·yîn.
of life .
23
יִתֶּן־
yit·ten-
ל֣וֹ
lōw
to them
､ לָ֭בֶטַח
lā·ḇe·ṭaḥ
– וְיִשָּׁעֵ֑ן
wə·yiš·šā·‘ên;
and they rely [on it] –
וְ֝עֵינֵ֗יהוּ
wə·‘ê·nê·hū,
and yet His eyes [are]
עַל־
‘al-
on
. דַּרְכֵיהֶֽם׃
dar·ḵê·hem.
24
ר֤וֹמּוּ
rō·wm·mū
､ מְּעַ֨ט ׀
mə·‘aṭ
וְֽאֵינֶ֗נּוּ
wə·’ê·nen·nū,
and they [are] no [more]
– וְֽהֻמְּכ֗וּ
wə·hum·mə·ḵū,
כַּכֹּ֥ל
kak·kōl
יִקָּפְצ֑וּן
yiq·qā·p̄ə·ṣūn;
וּכְרֹ֖אשׁ
ū·ḵə·rōš
and like the heads
שִׁבֹּ֣לֶת
šib·bō·leṯ
. יִמָּֽלוּ׃
yim·mā·lū.
25
וְאִם־
wə·’im-
And if
לֹ֣א
lō
[it is] not [so]
､ אֵ֭פוֹ
’ê·p̄ōw
- ､
מִ֣י
mî
､ יַכְזִיבֵ֑נִי
yaḵ·zî·ḇê·nî;
will prove me a liar ､
וְיָשֵׂ֥ם
wə·yā·śêm
לְ֝אַ֗ל
lə·’al,
. מִלָּתִֽי׃
mil·lā·ṯî.
my speech .
