Bildad: Man Cannot Be Righteous

וַ֭יַּעַן
way·ya·‘an
בִּלְדַּ֥ד
bil·daḏ
､ הַשֻּׁחִ֗י
haš·šu·ḥî,
the Shuhite ､
､ וַיֹּאמַֽר׃
way·yō·mar.
and said ､

הַמְשֵׁ֣ל
ham·šêl
וָפַ֣חַד
wā·p̄a·ḥaḏ
and fear [belong]
עִמּ֑וֹ
‘im·mōw;
to Him
עֹשֶׂ֥ה
‘ō·śeh
שָׁ֝ל֗וֹם
lō·wm,
. בִּמְרוֹמָֽיו׃
bim·rō·w·māw.

הֲיֵ֣שׁ
hă·yêš
מִ֭סְפָּר
mis·pār
؟ לִגְדוּדָ֑יו
liḡ·ḏū·ḏāw;
to His armies ؟
וְעַל־
wə·‘al-
and Upon
מִ֝֗י
mî,
לֹא־
lō-
not
יָק֥וּם
yā·qūm
؟ אוֹרֵֽהוּ׃
’ō·w·rê·hū.

וּמַה־
ū·mah-
יִּצְדַּ֣ק
yiṣ·daq
אֱנ֣וֹשׁ
’ĕ·nō·wōš
עִם־
‘im-
؟ אֵ֑ל
’êl;
God ؟
וּמַה־
ū·mah-
Or what
יִּ֝זְכֶּ֗ה
yiz·keh,
יְל֣וּד
yə·lūḏ
[that is] born
؟ אִשָּֽׁה׃
’iš·šāh.
of a woman ؟

הֵ֣ן
hên
if
עַד־
‘aḏ-
､ יָ֭רֵחַ
yā·rê·aḥ
the moon ､
– וְלֹ֣א
wə·lō
and not –
יַאֲהִ֑יל
ya·’ă·hîl;
וְ֝כוֹכָבִ֗ים
wə·ḵō·w·ḵā·ḇîm,
and the stars
לֹא־
lō-
not
זַכּ֥וּ
zak·kū
. בְעֵינָֽיו׃
ḇə·‘ê·nāw.
in His sight .

אַ֭ף
’ap̄
כִּֽי־
kî-
､ אֱנ֣וֹשׁ
’ĕ·nō·wōš
man ､
؟ רִמָּ֑ה
rim·māh;
[who is] a maggot ؟
וּבֶן־
ū·ḇen-
and a son
､ אָ֝דָ֗ם
’ā·ḏām,
of man ､
؟ תּוֹלֵעָֽה׃
tō·w·lê·‘āh.
[who is] a worm ؟
