the Hittite ､

and the Amorite ､

the Canaanite ､

､ הַפְּרִזִּ֔י

the Perizzite ､

and pretended to be ambassadors ､

וַיִּקְח֞וּ

שַׂקִּ֤ים

בָּלִים֙

､ לַחֲמ֣וֹרֵיהֶ֔ם

on their donkeys ､

､ וְנֹאד֥וֹת

יַ֙יִן֙

､ בָּלִ֔ים

and torn ､

– וּמְצֹרָרִֽים׃

and mended –

וּנְעָל֨וֹת

בָּל֤וֹת

וּמְטֻלָּאוֹת֙

ū·mə·ṭul·lā·’ō·wṯ

､ בְּרַגְלֵיהֶ֔ם

bə·raḡ·lê·hem,

on their feet ､

וּשְׂלָמ֥וֹת

ū·śə·lā·mō·wṯ

בָּל֖וֹת

bā·lō·wṯ

עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם

‘ă·lê·hem;

וְכֹל֙

and all

לֶ֣חֶם

of their provision

לִקְרָאתָ֑ם

וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֤ם

and say

אֲלֵיהֶם֙

– עַבְדֵיכֶ֣ם

your servants –

אֲנַ֔חְנוּ

we [are]

it is dry ､

וְהָיָ֖ה

and

וְאֵ֨לֶּה

נֹאד֤וֹת

､ הַיַּ֙יִן֙

we filled ､

– חֲדָשִׁ֔ים

new –

､ וְהִנֵּ֖ה

and see ､

– הִתְבַּקָּ֑עוּ

hiṯ·baq·qā·‘ū;

they are torn –

וְאֵ֤לֶּה

wə·’êl·leh

שַׂלְמוֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙

śal·mō·w·ṯê·nū

וּנְעָלֵ֔ינוּ

ū·nə·‘ā·lê·nū,

and our sandals

בָּל֕וּ

bā·lū

have become old

מֵרֹ֥ב

mê·rōḇ

because of much

הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ

had·de·reḵ

. מְאֹֽד׃

mə·’ōḏ.

וַיִּקְח֥וּ

way·yiq·ḥū

הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֖ים

the men of Israel

､ מִצֵּידָ֑ם

miṣ·ṣê·ḏām;

of their provisions ､

וְאֶת־

. הָעֵדָֽה׃

hā·‘ê·ḏāh.

of the congregation .

וַיְהִ֗י

And it came to pass

מִקְצֵה֙

at the end

יָמִ֔ים

אַחֲרֵ֕י

that they heard

and Chephirah ､

､ וּבְאֵר֖וֹת

and Beeroth ､

וְקִרְיַ֥ת

and

Kirjath Jearim .

– הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה

the congregation –

the rulers .

וַיִּקְרָ֤א

יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר

and he spoke

אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם

､ לֵאמֹ֑ר

lê·mōr;

לָמָּה֩

lām·māh

רִמִּיתֶ֨ם

rim·mî·ṯem

have you deceived

אֹתָ֜נוּ

’ō·ṯā·nū

us

､ לֵאמֹ֗ר

lê·mōr,

רְחוֹקִ֨ים

rə·ḥō·w·qîm

אֲנַ֤חְנוּ

’ă·naḥ·nū

we [are]

מִכֶּם֙

mik·kem

מְאֹ֔ד

mə·’ōḏ,

וְאַתֶּ֖ם

wə·’at·tem

בְּקִרְבֵּ֥נוּ

bə·qir·bê·nū

. יֹשְׁבִֽים׃

וְעַתָּ֖ה

､ אֲרוּרִ֣ים

[are] cursed ､

אַתֶּ֑ם

’at·tem;

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

and none

יִכָּרֵ֨ת

yik·kā·rêṯ

מִכֶּ֜ם

mik·kem

of you

､ עֶ֗בֶד

‘e·ḇeḏ,

from being slaves ､

וְחֹטְבֵ֥י

wə·ḥō·ṭə·ḇê

and

עֵצִ֛ים

‘ê·ṣîm

וְשֹֽׁאֲבֵי־

wə·šō·’ă·ḇê-

and

מַ֖יִם

ma·yim

לְבֵ֥ית

וַיַּעֲנ֨וּ

So they answered

the inhabitants

הָאָ֖רֶץ

of the land

מִפְּנֵיכֶ֑ם

from before you

וַנִּירָ֨א

therefore we were afraid

מְאֹ֤ד

mə·’ōḏ

לְנַפְשֹׁתֵ֙ינוּ֙

lə·nap̄·šō·ṯê·nū

מִפְּנֵיכֶ֔ם

mip·pə·nê·ḵem,

וַֽנַּעֲשֵׂ֖ה

wan·na·‘ă·śêh

Now ､

הִנְנ֣וּ

in your hands –

כַּטּ֨וֹב

as it seems good

וְכַיָּשָׁ֧ר
