מֵפִ֛יץ

mê·p̄îṣ

He who scatters

עַל־

‘al-

– פָּנַ֖יִךְ

pā·na·yiḵ

נָצ֣וֹר

nā·ṣō·wr

､ מְצֻרָ֑ה

mə·ṣu·rāh;

the fort ､

צַפֵּה־

ṣap·pêh-

､ דֶ֙רֶךְ֙

ḏe·reḵ

the road ､

חַזֵּ֣ק

ḥaz·zêq

､ מָתְנַ֔יִם

mā·ṯə·na·yim,

[your] flanks ､

אַמֵּ֥ץ

’am·mêṣ

כֹּ֖חַ

kō·aḥ

. מְאֹֽד׃

mə·’ōḏ.

כִּ֣י

kî

שָׁ֤ב

šāḇ

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

גְּא֣וֹן

gə·’ō·wn

､ יַעֲקֹ֔ב

ya·‘ă·qōḇ,

of Jacob ､

כִּגְא֖וֹן

kiḡ·’ō·wn

Like the excellence

､ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

yiś·rā·’êl;

of Israel ､

כִּ֤י

kî

בְקָקוּם֙

ḇə·qā·qūm

have emptied them out

בֹּֽקְקִ֔ים

bō·qə·qîm,

וּזְמֹרֵיהֶ֖ם

ū·zə·mō·rê·hem

and their vine branches

. שִׁחֵֽתוּ׃

ši·ḥê·ṯū.

מָגֵ֨ן

mā·ḡên

גִּבֹּרֵ֜יהוּ

gib·bō·rê·hū

of his mighty men

､ מְאָדָּ֗ם

mə·’ād·dām,

[are] made red ､

אַנְשֵׁי־

’an·šê-

the men [are]

חַ֙יִל֙

ḥa·yil

– מְתֻלָּעִ֔ים

mə·ṯul·lā·‘îm,

in scarlet –

בְּאֵשׁ־

bə·’êš-

פְּלָד֥וֹת

pə·lā·ḏō·wṯ

הָרֶ֖כֶב

hā·re·ḵeḇ

the chariots [come]

בְּי֣וֹם

bə·yō·wm

in the day

､ הֲכִינ֑וֹ

hă·ḵî·nōw;

of his preparation ､

וְהַבְּרֹשִׁ֖ים

wə·hab·bə·rō·šîm

and the spears

. הָרְעָֽלוּ׃

hā·rə·‘ā·lū.

are brandished .

､ בַּֽחוּצוֹת֙

ba·ḥū·ṣō·wṯ

In the streets ､

יִתְהוֹלְל֣וּ

yiṯ·hō·wl·lū

הָרֶ֔כֶב

hā·re·ḵeḇ,

יִֽשְׁתַּקְשְׁק֖וּן

yiš·taq·šə·qūn

they jostle one another

､ בָּרְחֹב֑וֹת

bā·rə·ḥō·ḇō·wṯ;

in the broad [roads] ､

מַרְאֵיהֶן֙

mar·’ê·hen

､ כַּלַּפִּידִ֔ם

kal·lap·pî·ḏim,

like torches ､

כַּבְּרָקִ֖ים

kab·bə·rā·qîm

. יְרוֹצֵֽצוּ׃

yə·rō·w·ṣê·ṣū.

יִזְכֹּר֙

yiz·kōr

– אַדִּירָ֔יו

’ad·dî·rāw,

יִכָּשְׁל֖וּ

yik·kā·šə·lū

[בהלכותם]

ḇa·hă·li·ḵō·w·ṯām

-

– (בַּהֲלִֽיכָתָ֑ם)

ba·hă·lî·ḵā·ṯām;

in their walk –

יְמַֽהֲרוּ֙

yə·ma·hă·rū

they make haste

חֽוֹמָתָ֔הּ

ḥō·w·mā·ṯāh,

וְהֻכַ֖ן

wə·hu·ḵan

and is prepared

. הַסֹּכֵֽךְ׃

has·sō·ḵêḵ.

שַׁעֲרֵ֥י

ša·‘ă·rê

הַנְּהָר֖וֹת

han·nə·hā·rō·wṯ

of the rivers

､ נִפְתָּ֑חוּ

nip̄·tā·ḥū;

וְהַֽהֵיכָ֖ל

wə·ha·hê·ḵāl

and the palace

. נָמֽוֹג׃

nā·mō·wḡ.

וְהֻצַּ֖ב

wə·huṣ·ṣaḇ

And it is decreed

､ גֻּלְּתָ֣ה

gul·lə·ṯāh

she shall be led away captive ､

､ הֹֽעֲלָ֑תָה

hō·‘ă·lā·ṯāh;

she shall be brought up ､

וְאַמְהֹתֶ֗יהָ

wə·’am·hō·ṯe·hā,

and her maidservants

מְנַֽהֲגוֹת֙

mə·na·hă·ḡō·wṯ

shall lead [her]

כְּק֣וֹל

kə·qō·wl

as with the voice

､ יוֹנִ֔ים

yō·w·nîm,

of doves ､

מְתֹפְפֹ֖ת

mə·ṯō·p̄ə·p̄ōṯ

עַל־

‘al-

on

. לִבְבֵהֶֽן׃

liḇ·ḇê·hen.

their breasts .

וְנִינְוֵ֥ה

wə·nî·nə·wêh

And Though Nineveh

כִבְרֵֽכַת־

ḵiḇ·rê·ḵaṯ-

– מַ֖יִם

ma·yim

of water –

מִ֣ימֵי

mî·mê

of old

הִ֑יא

hî;

וְהֵ֣מָּה

wə·hêm·māh

and they

. נָסִ֔ים

nā·sîm,

עִמְד֥וּ

‘im·ḏū

､ עֲמֹ֖דוּ

‘ă·mō·ḏū

Halt [they cry] ､

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

but no one

. מַפְנֶֽה׃

map̄·neh.

בֹּ֥זּוּ

bōz·zū

､ כֶ֖סֶף

ḵe·sep̄

of silver ､

בֹּ֣זּוּ

bōz·zū

! זָהָ֑ב

zā·hāḇ;

of gold !

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and [There is] no

קֵ֙צֶה֙

qê·ṣeh

לַתְּכוּנָ֔ה

lat·tə·ḵū·nāh,

כָּבֹ֕ד

kā·ḇōḏ

מִכֹּ֖ל

mik·kōl

כְּלִ֥י

kə·lî

. חֶמְדָּֽה׃

ḥem·dāh.

､ בּוּקָ֥ה

bū·qāh

She is empty ､

､ וּמְבוּקָ֖ה

ū·mə·ḇū·qāh

and desolate ､

! וּמְבֻלָּקָ֑ה

ū·mə·ḇul·lā·qāh;

and waste !

וְלֵ֨ב

wə·lêḇ

and the heart

､ נָמֵ֜ס

nā·mês

､ וּפִ֣ק

ū·p̄iq

and shake ､

בִּרְכַּ֗יִם

bir·ka·yim,

וְחַלְחָלָה֙

wə·ḥal·ḥā·lāh

and [Much] pain [is]

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

､ מָתְנַ֔יִם

mā·ṯə·na·yim,

side ､

וּפְנֵ֥י

ū·p̄ə·nê

כֻלָּ֖ם

ḵul·lām

קִבְּצ֥וּ

qib·bə·ṣū

. פָארֽוּר׃

p̄ā·rūr.

of color .

אַיֵּה֙

’ay·yêh

מְע֣וֹן

mə·‘ō·wn

､ אֲרָי֔וֹת

’ă·rā·yō·wṯ,

of the lions ､

וּמִרְעֶ֥ה

ū·mir·‘eh

and the feeding place

ה֖וּא

hū

is

､ לַכְּפִרִ֑ים

lak·kə·p̄i·rîm;

of the young lions ､

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ הָלַךְ֩

hā·laḵ

､ אַרְיֵ֨ה

’ar·yêh

the lion ､

､ לָבִ֥יא

lā·ḇî

the lioness ､

שָׁ֛ם

šām

､ גּ֥וּר

gūr

[and] cub ､

אַרְיֵ֖ה

’ar·yêh

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and no one

؟ מַחֲרִֽיד׃

ma·ḥă·rîḏ.

made [them] afraid ؟

אַרְיֵ֤ה

’ar·yêh

the lion

טֹרֵף֙

ṭō·rêp̄

בְּדֵ֣י

bə·ḏê

､ גֹֽרוֹתָ֔יו

ḡō·rō·w·ṯāw,

וּמְחַנֵּ֖ק

ū·mə·ḥan·nêq

､ לְלִבְאֹתָ֑יו

lə·liḇ·’ō·ṯāw;

for his lionesses ､

וַיְמַלֵּא־

way·mal·lê-

､ טֶ֣רֶף

ṭe·rep̄

with prey ､

חֹרָ֔יו

ḥō·rāw,

וּמְעֹֽנֹתָ֖יו

ū·mə·‘ō·nō·ṯāw

. טְרֵפָֽה׃

ṭə·rê·p̄āh.

with flesh .

הִנְנִ֣י

hin·nî

Behold I [am]

אֵלַ֗יִךְ

’ê·la·yiḵ,

נְאֻם֙

nə·’um

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

､ צְבָא֔וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ,

of hosts ､

וְהִבְעַרְתִּ֤י

wə·hiḇ·‘ar·tî

and I will burn

､ בֶֽעָשָׁן֙

ḇe·‘ā·šān

in smoke ､

רִכְבָּ֔הּ

riḵ·bāh,

– וּכְפִירַ֖יִךְ

ū·ḵə·p̄î·ra·yiḵ

and your young lions –

תֹּ֣אכַל

tō·ḵal

חָ֑רֶב

ḥā·reḇ;

וְהִכְרַתִּ֤י

wə·hiḵ·rat·tî

and I will cut off

､ מֵאֶ֙רֶץ֙

mê·’e·reṣ

from the earth ､

טַרְפֵּ֔ךְ

ṭar·pêḵ,

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

and no

. יִשָּׁמַ֥ע

yiš·šā·ma‘

shall be heard .

ע֖וֹד

‘ō·wḏ

ק֥וֹל

qō·wl

. מַלְאָכֵֽכֵה׃

mal·’ā·ḵê·ḵêh.

of your messengers .
