מֶ֥לֶךְ

I will consume

כֹּ֗ל

kōl,

מֵעַ֛ל

mê·‘al

פְּנֵ֥י

pə·nê

the face

､ הָאֲדָמָ֖ה

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh

of the land ､

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

אָסֵ֨ף

’ā·sêp̄

I will consume

אָדָ֜ם

’ā·ḏām

– וּבְהֵמָ֗ה

ū·ḇə·hê·māh,

and beast –

אָסֵ֤ף

’ā·sêp̄

I will consume

עוֹף־

‘ō·wp̄-

､ הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙

haš·šā·ma·yim

of the heavens ､

וּדְגֵ֣י

ū·ḏə·ḡê

and the fish

､ הַיָּ֔ם

hay·yām,

of the sea ､

וְהַמַּכְשֵׁל֖וֹת

wə·ham·maḵ·šê·lō·wṯ

and the stumbling blocks

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

– הָרְשָׁעִ֑ים

hā·rə·šā·‘îm;

the along with wicked –

וְהִכְרַתִּ֣י

wə·hiḵ·rat·tî

and I will cut off

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הָאָדָ֗ם

hā·’ā·ḏām,

מֵעַ֛ל

mê·‘al

פְּנֵ֥י

pə·nê

the face

､ הָאֲדָמָ֖ה

hā·’ă·ḏā·māh

of the land ､

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְנָטִ֤יתִי

wə·nā·ṭî·ṯî

And I will stretch out

יָדִי֙

yā·ḏî

עַל־

‘al-

､ יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

וְעַ֖ל

wə·‘al

כָּל־

kāl-

יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י

yō·wō·šə·ḇê

the inhabitants

– יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

yə·rū·šā·lim;

of Jerusalem –

וְהִכְרַתִּ֞י

wə·hiḵ·rat·tî

and I will cut off

מִן־

min-

､ הַמָּק֤וֹם

ham·mā·qō·wm

הַזֶּה֙

haz·zeh

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

שְׁאָ֣ר

šə·’ār

הַבַּ֔עַל

hab·ba·‘al,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

שֵׁ֥ם

šêm

הַכְּמָרִ֖ים

hak·kə·mā·rîm

of the idolatrous priests

עִם־

‘im-

with

– הַכֹּהֲנִֽים׃

hak·kō·hă·nîm.

the [pagan] priests –

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הַמִּשְׁתַּחֲוִ֥ים

ham·miš·ta·ḥă·wîm

Those who worship

עַל־

‘al-

on

– הַגַּגּ֖וֹת

hag·gag·gō·wṯ

the housetops –

לִצְבָ֣א

liṣ·ḇā

הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

haš·šā·mā·yim;

of the heaven

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הַמִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוִים֙

ham·miš·ta·ḥă·wîm

Those who worship

הַנִּשְׁבָּעִ֣ים

han·niš·bā·‘îm

and swear [oaths]

､ לַֽיהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

by Yahweh ､

וְהַנִּשְׁבָּעִ֖ים

wə·han·niš·bā·‘îm

but who [also] swear

– בְּמַלְכָּֽם׃

bə·mal·kām.

by Milcom –

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הַנְּסוֹגִ֖ים

han·nə·sō·w·ḡîm

Those who have turned back

מֵאַחֲרֵ֣י

mê·’a·ḥă·rê

from [following]

יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וַאֲשֶׁ֛ר

wa·’ă·šer

and

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

בִקְשׁ֥וּ

ḇiq·šū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

. דְרָשֻֽׁהוּ׃

ḏə·rā·šu·hū.

inquired of Him .

The Day of the Lord

הַ֕ס

has

מִפְּנֵ֖י

mip·pə·nê

in the presence

אֲדֹנָ֣י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

of the Lord

– יְהוִ֑ה

Yah·weh;

GOD –

כִּ֤י

kî

､ קָרוֹב֙

qā·rō·wḇ

[is] at hand ､

י֣וֹם

yō·wm

the day

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

כִּֽי־

kî-

הֵכִ֧ין

hê·ḵîn

יְהוָ֛ה

Yah·weh

､ זֶ֖בַח

ze·ḇaḥ

a sacrifice ､

הִקְדִּ֥ישׁ

hiq·dîš

. קְרֻאָֽיו׃

qə·ru·’āw.

וְהָיָ֗ה

wə·hā·yāh,

And it shall be

בְּיוֹם֙

bə·yō·wm

in the day

､ זֶ֣בַח

ze·ḇaḥ

of the sacrifice ､

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

וּפָקַדְתִּ֥י

ū·p̄ā·qaḏ·tî

that I will punish

עַל־

‘al-

､ הַשָּׂרִ֖ים

haś·śā·rîm

the princes ､

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and

､ בְּנֵ֣י

bə·nê

הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ;

of the king

וְעַ֥ל

wə·‘al

and

כָּל־

kāl-

הַלֹּבְשִׁ֖ים

hal·lō·ḇə·šîm

such as are clothed

מַלְבּ֥וּשׁ

mal·būš

. נָכְרִֽי׃

nā·ḵə·rî.

וּפָקַדְתִּ֗י

ū·p̄ā·qaḏ·tî,

And I will punish

עַ֧ל

‘al

on

כָּל־

kāl-

הַדּוֹלֵ֛ג

had·dō·w·lêḡ

עַל־

‘al-

､ הַמִּפְתָּ֖ן

ham·mip̄·tān

the threshold ､

בַּיּ֣וֹם

bay·yō·wm

in day

הַה֑וּא

ha·hū;

הַֽמְמַלְאִ֛ים

ham·mal·’îm

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

אֲדֹנֵיהֶ֖ם

’ă·ḏō·nê·hem

חָמָ֥ס

ḥā·mās

. וּמִרְמָֽה׃

ū·mir·māh.

and deceit .

וְהָיָה֩

And there shall be

､ בַיּ֨וֹם

ḇay·yō·wm

on day ､

הַה֜וּא

ha·hū

נְאֻם־

nə·’um-

､ יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

ק֤וֹל

qō·wl

צְעָקָה֙

ṣə·‘ā·qāh

of a [mournful] cry

､ מִשַּׁ֣עַר

miš·ša·‘ar

הַדָּגִ֔ים

had·dā·ḡîm,

the Fish

וִֽילָלָ֖ה

wî·lā·lāh

､ מִן־

min-

from ､

､ הַמִּשְׁנֶ֑ה

ham·miš·neh;

the Second Quarter ､

וְשֶׁ֥בֶר

wə·še·ḇer

גָּד֖וֹל

gā·ḏō·wl

. מֵהַגְּבָעֽוֹת׃

mê·hag·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ.

from the hills .

､ הֵילִ֖ילוּ

hê·lî·lū

Wail ､

יֹשְׁבֵ֣י

yō·šə·ḇê

you inhabitants

､ הַמַּכְתֵּ֑שׁ

ham·maḵ·têš;

of Maktesh ､

כִּ֤י

kî

– נִדְמָה֙

niḏ·māh

are cut down –

כָּל־

kāl-

עַ֣ם

‘am

כְּנַ֔עַן

kə·na·‘an,

. נִכְרְת֖וּ

niḵ·rə·ṯū

כָּל־

kāl-

נְטִ֥ילֵי

nə·ṭî·lê

those who handle

. כָֽסֶף׃

ḵā·sep̄.

וְהָיָה֙

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall come to pass

､ בָּעֵ֣ת

bā·‘êṯ

at time ､

הַהִ֔יא

ha·hî,

אֲחַפֵּ֥שׂ

’ă·ḥap·pêś

[That] I will search

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

yə·rū·šā·lim

､ בַּנֵּר֑וֹת

ban·nê·rō·wṯ;

with lamps ､

וּפָקַדְתִּ֣י

ū·p̄ā·qaḏ·tî

עַל־

‘al-

on

הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים

hā·’ă·nā·šîm,

the men

הַקֹּֽפְאִים֙

haq·qō·p̄ə·’îm

who are settled

עַל־

‘al-

in

､ שִׁמְרֵיהֶ֔ם

šim·rê·hem,

complacency ､

הָאֹֽמְרִים֙

hā·’ō·mə·rîm

､ בִּלְבָבָ֔ם

bil·ḇā·ḇām,

in their heart ､

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

､ יֵיטִ֥יב

yê·ṭîḇ

will do good ､

יְהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

. יָרֵֽעַ׃

yā·rê·a‘.

will He do evil .

וְהָיָ֤ה

wə·hā·yāh

Therefore shall become

חֵילָם֙

ḥê·lām

､ לִמְשִׁסָּ֔ה

lim·šis·sāh,

וּבָתֵּיהֶ֖ם

ū·ḇāt·tê·hem

and their houses

– לִשְׁמָמָ֑ה

liš·mā·māh;

a desolation –

וּבָנ֤וּ

ū·ḇā·nū

and they shall build

､ בָתִּים֙

ḇāt·tîm

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

but not

יֵשֵׁ֔בוּ

yê·šê·ḇū,

וְנָטְע֣וּ

wə·nā·ṭə·‘ū

and they shall plant

､ כְרָמִ֔ים

ḵə·rā·mîm,

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

but not

יִשְׁתּ֖וּ

yiš·tū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. יֵינָֽם׃

yê·nām.

､ קָר֤וֹב

qā·rō·wḇ

[is] near ､

יוֹם־

yō·wm-

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

הַגָּד֔וֹל

hag·gā·ḏō·wl,

､ קָר֖וֹב

qā·rō·wḇ

[it is] near ､

וּמַהֵ֣ר

ū·ma·hêr

､ מְאֹ֑ד

mə·’ōḏ;

ק֚וֹל

qō·wl

י֣וֹם

yō·wm

of the day

! יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

. מַ֥ר

mar

צֹרֵ֖חַ

ṣō·rê·aḥ

שָׁ֥ם

šām

. גִּבּֽוֹר׃

gib·bō·wr.

the mighty men .

י֥וֹם

yō·wm

､ עֶבְרָ֖ה

‘eḇ·rāh

of wrath ､

הַיּ֣וֹם

hay·yō·wm

day [is]

הַה֑וּא

ha·hū;

י֧וֹם

yō·wm

צָרָ֣ה

ṣā·rāh

､ וּמְצוּקָ֗ה

ū·mə·ṣū·qāh,

and distress ､

י֤וֹם

yō·wm

שֹׁאָה֙

šō·’āh

､ וּמְשׁוֹאָ֔ה

ū·mə·šō·w·’āh,

and desolation ､

י֥וֹם

yō·wm

חֹ֙שֶׁךְ֙

ḥō·šeḵ

､ וַאֲפֵלָ֔ה

wa·’ă·p̄ê·lāh,

and [deep] darkness ､

י֥וֹם

yō·wm

עָנָ֖ן

‘ā·nān

､ וַעֲרָפֶֽל׃

wa·‘ă·rā·p̄el.

and thick darkness ､

י֥וֹם

yō·wm

שׁוֹפָ֖ר

šō·w·p̄ār

וּתְרוּעָ֑ה

ū·ṯə·rū·‘āh;

עַ֚ל

‘al

､ הֶעָרִ֣ים

he·‘ā·rîm

the cities ､

הַבְּצֻר֔וֹת

hab·bə·ṣu·rō·wṯ,

וְעַ֖ל

wə·‘al

הַפִּנּ֥וֹת

hap·pin·nō·wṯ

. הַגְּבֹהֽוֹת׃

hag·gə·ḇō·hō·wṯ.

וַהֲצֵרֹ֣תִי

wa·hă·ṣê·rō·ṯî

And I will bring distress

､ לָאָדָ֗ם

lā·’ā·ḏām,

וְהָֽלְכוּ֙

wə·hā·lə·ḵū

and they shall walk

､ כַּֽעִוְרִ֔ים

ka·‘iw·rîm,

like blind men ､

כִּ֥י

kî

– לַֽיהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

against Yahweh –

חָטָ֑אוּ

ḥā·ṭā·’ū;

they have sinned

וְשֻׁפַּ֤ךְ

wə·šup·paḵ

and shall be poured out

דָּמָם֙

dā·mām

､ כֶּֽעָפָ֔ר

ke·‘ā·p̄ār,

וּלְחֻמָ֖ם

ū·lə·ḥu·mām

and their flesh

. כַּגְּלָלִֽים׃

kag·gə·lā·lîm.

גַּם־

gam-

כַּסְפָּ֨ם

kas·pām

גַּם־

gam-

זְהָבָ֜ם

zə·hā·ḇām

לֹֽא־

lō-

יוּכַ֣ל

yū·ḵal

לְהַצִּילָ֗ם

lə·haṣ·ṣî·lām,

to deliver them

בְּיוֹם֙

bə·yō·wm

in the day

– עֶבְרַ֣ת

‘eḇ·raṯ

of the wrath –

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

וּבְאֵשׁ֙

ū·ḇə·’êš

but by the fire

､ קִנְאָת֔וֹ

qin·’ā·ṯōw,

of His jealousy ､

תֵּאָכֵ֖ל

tê·’ā·ḵêl

shall be devoured

כָּל־

kāl-

הָאָ֑רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ;

the land

כִּֽי־

kî-

כָלָ֤ה

ḵā·lāh

אַךְ־

’aḵ-

נִבְהָלָה֙

niḇ·hā·lāh

יַֽעֲשֶׂ֔ה

ya·‘ă·śeh,

He will make

אֵ֥ת

’êṯ

of

כָּל־

kāl-

יֹשְׁבֵ֖י

yō·šə·ḇê

those who dwell

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

in the land .
