[Or] the day
בְּטֶ֣רֶם ׀

לֹא־

יָב֣וֹא

חֲרוֹן֙

the fierce
אַף־

. עֲנָוָ֔ה
‘ă·nā·wāh,
אוּלַי֙
’ū·lay
It may be that
תִּסָּ֣תְר֔וּ
tis·sā·ṯə·rū,
you will be hidden
בְּי֖וֹם
bə·yō·wm
in the day
אַף־
’ap̄-
of the anger
. יְהוָֽה׃
Yah·weh.

､ בַּֽצָּהֳרַ֙יִם֙

at noonday ､
יְגָ֣רְשׁ֔וּהָ

וְעֶקְר֖וֹן
wə·‘eq·rō·wn
and Ekron
. תֵּעָקֵֽר׃

! כְּרֵתִ֑ים
kə·rê·ṯîm;
of the Cherethites !
דְּבַר־
də·ḇar-
the word
יְהוָ֣ה
Yah·weh
עֲלֵיכֶ֗ם
‘ă·lê·ḵem,
､ כְּנַ֙עַן֙
kə·na·‘an
Canaan ､
אֶ֣רֶץ
’e·reṣ
､ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים
pə·liš·tîm,
of the Philistines ､
וְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֖יךְ
wə·ha·’ă·ḇaḏ·tîḵ
and I will destroy you
מֵאֵ֥ין
mê·’ên
so there shall be no
. יוֹשֵֽׁב׃
yō·wō·šêḇ.

וְֽהָיְתָ֞ה
wə·hā·yə·ṯāh
And shall be
חֶ֣בֶל
ḥe·ḇel
הַיָּ֗ם
hay·yām,
נְוֺ֛ת
nə·wōṯ
כְּרֹ֥ת
kə·rōṯ
､ רֹעִ֖ים
rō·‘îm
וְגִדְר֥וֹת
wə·ḡiḏ·rō·wṯ
. צֹֽאן׃
ṣōn.

וְהָ֣יָה
wə·hā·yāh
And shall be
חֶ֗בֶל
ḥe·ḇel,
the coast
לִשְׁאֵרִ֛ית
liš·’ê·rîṯ
בֵּ֥ית
bêṯ
of the house
– יְהוּדָ֖ה
yə·hū·ḏāh
of Judah –
– עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם
‘ă·lê·hem
there –
יִרְע֑וּן
yir·‘ūn;
בְּבָתֵּ֣י
bə·ḇāt·tê
in the houses
אַשְׁקְל֗וֹן
’aš·qə·lō·wn,
– בָּעֶ֙רֶב֙
bā·‘e·reḇ
at evening –
יִרְבָּצ֔וּן
yir·bā·ṣūn,
כִּ֧י
kî
יִפְקְדֵ֛ם
yip̄·qə·ḏêm
יְהוָ֥ה
Yah·weh
אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֖ם
’ĕ·lō·hê·hem
וְשָׁ֥ב
wə·šāḇ
and return
[שבותם]
šə·ḇū·ṯām
-
. (שְׁבִיתָֽם׃)

of Ammon ､

with which
חֵֽרְפוּ֙
ḥê·rə·p̄ū
אֶת־
’eṯ-

､ עַמִּ֔י
‘am·mî,
My people ､
וַיַּגְדִּ֖ילוּ
way·yaḡ·dî·lū
עַל־
‘al-
. גְּבוּלָֽם׃

Overrun with
､ חָר֛וּל

weeds ､

. וּשְׁמָמָ֖ה

and a desolation .

Even to

עַמִּי֙

of My people
יְבָזּ֔וּם

and the remnant

עַל־
‘al-
עַ֖ם
‘am
the people of
יְהוָ֥ה
Yah·weh
. צְבָאֽוֹת׃

of hosts .

Yahweh [will be]
עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם
‘ă·lê·hem,
to them
כִּ֣י
kî
רָזָ֔ה
rā·zāh,
He will reduce to nothing
אֵ֖ת
’êṯ
-
כָּל־
kāl-
אֱלֹהֵ֣י
’ĕ·lō·hê
the gods
– הָאָ֑רֶץ
hā·’ā·reṣ;
of the earth –
וְיִשְׁתַּֽחֲווּ־
wə·yiš·ta·ḥă·wū-
לוֹ֙
lōw
אִ֣ישׁ
’îš
､ מִמְּקוֹמ֔וֹ
mim·mə·qō·w·mōw,
כֹּ֖ל
kōl
אִיֵּ֥י

the shores

And He will stretch out
יָדוֹ֙

עַל־
‘al-
､ צָפ֔וֹן
ṣā·p̄ō·wn,
the north ､
וִֽיאַבֵּ֖ד
wî·’ab·bêḏ
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
– אַשּׁ֑וּר
’aš·šūr;
וְיָשֵׂ֤ם
wə·yā·śêm
and make
אֶת־
’eṯ-
-
נִֽינְוֵה֙
nî·nə·wêh
､ לִשְׁמָמָ֔ה
liš·mā·māh,
צִיָּ֖ה
ṣî·yāh
as dry
. כַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃
kam·miḏ·bār.
as the wilderness .

וְרָבְצ֨וּ
wə·rā·ḇə·ṣū
בְתוֹכָ֤הּ
ḇə·ṯō·w·ḵāh
עֲדָרִים֙
‘ă·ḏā·rîm
the herds
כָּל־
kāl-
חַיְתוֹ־
ḥay·ṯōw-
– ג֔וֹי
ḡō·w,
of the nation –
גַּם־
gam-
קָאַת֙
qā·’aṯ
גַּם־
gam-
and
קִפֹּ֔ד
qip·pōḏ,
בְּכַפְתֹּרֶ֖יהָ
bə·ḵap̄·tō·re·hā
on the capitals [of] her [pillars]
יָלִ֑ינוּ
yā·lî·nū;
ק֠וֹל
qō·wl
יְשׁוֹרֵ֤ר
yə·šō·w·rêr
– בַּֽחַלּוֹן֙
ba·ḥal·lō·wn
in the windows –
חֹ֣רֶב
ḥō·reḇ
– בַּסַּ֔ף
bas·sap̄,
at the threshold –
כִּ֥י
kî
אַרְזָ֖ה
’ar·zāh
. עֵרָֽה׃
‘ê·rāh.
He will lay bare .

This [is]

the city
הָעַלִּיזָה֙
hā·‘al·lî·zāh
הַיּוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת
hay·yō·wō·še·ḇeṯ
､ לָבֶ֔טַח
lā·ḇe·ṭaḥ,
הָאֹֽמְרָה֙
hā·’ō·mə·rāh
､ בִּלְבָבָ֔הּ
bil·ḇā·ḇāh,
in her heart ､
אֲנִ֖י
’ă·nî
I [am it]
וְאַפְסִ֣י
wə·’ap̄·sî
and [there is] none
ע֑וֹד
‘ō·wḏ;
אֵ֣יךְ ׀
’êḵ
הָיְתָ֣ה
hā·yə·ṯāh
､ לְשַׁמָּ֗ה
lə·šam·māh,
מַרְבֵּץ֙
mar·bêṣ
לַֽחַיָּ֔ה
la·ḥay·yāh,

by her
