23 Joab commanded the entire army of Israel, Jehoiada's son Benaiah commanded the special forces and mercenaries, 24 Adoram supervised conscripted labor, Ahilud's son Jehoshaphat was the recorder, 25 Sheva was secretary, Zadok and Abiathar were priests, 26 and Ira the Jairite was David's priest.

15 David reigned over all of Israel, administering justice and equity to every one of his people. 16 Zeruiah's son Joab served in charge of the army, Ahilud's son Jehoshaphat was his personal archivist, 17 Ahitub's son Zadok and Abiathar's son Ahimelech were priests, Seraiah was his personal secretary, 18 Jehoida's son Benaiah supervised the special forces and mercenaries, and David's sons were priests.
