1 John 5:5-12 - God Has Given Us Eternal Life In The Son

⁵ Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

⁶ This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus, the Christ; not by water only, but by water and by blood; and the Spirit is that which testifies, for the Spirit is the truth. ⁷ For there are three that testify; the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and the three are one. ⁸ (Added verse not retained in Sawyer) ⁹ If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for this is the testimony of God that he has testified concerning his Son. ¹⁰ He that believes on the Son of God has the testimony in himself; he that believes not God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony which God has testified concerning his Son. ¹¹ And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

¹² He that has the Son has the life; he that has not the Son has not the life.
