1 Corinthians 11:17-34 - Improper Conduct At The Lord's Supper

17 But I praise you not in this, which I now mention, that you come together, not for the better, but for the worse. 18 For, in the first place, when you come together in the church, I hear that there are schisms among you, and I partly believe it: 19 for there must be sects among you, that the approved may be made known among you. 20 "When, therefore, you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord's supper; 21 for each one, in eating, takes before another, his own supper; and one is hungry, and another is drunken. 22 What, have you not houses in which to eat and drink? or do you despise the church of God, and put those to shame who have nothing to eat? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: That the Lord Jesus, on the night in which he was delivered up, took bread; 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said: Take, eat; this is my body, which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of me.

25 In like manner also, the cup, after he had supped, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood: do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you do show the Lord's death till he come.

27 Wherefore he that eats this bread, or drinks this cup of the Lord, in an improper manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of this bread, and drink of this cup: 29 for he that eats and drinks in an improper manner, eats and drinks condemnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this reason, many among you are weak and sick, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged; 32 but being judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

33 Wherefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one an other:- 34 and if any one is hungry, let him eat at home, that you come not together for condemnation. But other things I will set in order when I come.
