Luke 23:1-5 - Jesus Brought Before Pilate

¹ AND the whole multitude of them rising up, led him to Pilate, ² and began to accuse him, saying, We have found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay tribute to Caesar; pretending that he himself is the King Messiah.

³ Then Pilate interrogated him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said to him, Thou sayest so.

⁴ Then said Pilate unto the chief priests and the multitudes, I find nothing culpable in this man.

⁵ But they were urgent, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching through all Judea, beginning from Galilee even to this place.

²⁸ Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas to the praetorium: and it was early: and they themselves went not into the praetorium, that they should not be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

²⁹ Pilate then came out to them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?

³⁰ They answered and said to him, If this fellow had not been a malefactor, we should not have delivered him up to thee.

³¹ Pilate then said to them, Take him yourselves, and according to your own law judge him. The Jews then said to him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death: ³² that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, intimating by what manner of death he should die.
