John 12:1-8 - Jesus Is Anointed At Bethany

1 Jesus, therefore, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus raised from the dead. 2 They made therefore a supper for him there, and Martha served; but Lazarus was one of those who reclined at the table with him. 3 Then Mary, taking a pound of ointment of pure spikenard, very costly, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.

4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, he who was about to betray him, saith, 5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred denaries, and given to the poor? 6 And this he said, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and kept the purse, and bore what was put therein.

7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone, that she may keep it until the day of my burial. 8 For the poor ye have always with you, but me ye have not always.
