John 18:1-11 - Jesus Is Betrayed And Arrested

When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with his disciples over the brook Kedron; where there was a garden, into which He entred, and his disciples. Now Judas who was gone to betray Him, 2 knew the place: for Jesus often met there together with his disciples: Judas therefore having got a band of soldiers, 3 and officers from the chief priests and pharisees, cometh thither with candles, and lamps, and arms.

Upon which Jesus, who knew all that was coming upon Him, went forth and said unto them, Whom do ye seek? They answered Him, Jesus the Nazarene.

Jesus saith unto them, I am He. And Judas that betrayed Him, was standing with them. 6 Now as soon as He said unto them, I am He, they went backwards and fell to the ground.

Then He asked them again, Whom do ye seek?

And they said, Jesus the Nazarene. Jesus answered, I have told you that I am He: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way: 9 That the word might be fulfilled which He had spoken, "Of those, whom Thou hast given me, I have lost none."

Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

But Jesus said to Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
