John 18:1-11 - Jesus Is Betrayed And Arrested

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with his disciples over the brook Kedron; where there was a garden, into which He entred, and his disciples. Now Judas who was gone to betray Him, ² knew the place: for Jesus often met there together with his disciples: Judas therefore having got a band of soldiers, ³ and officers from the chief priests and pharisees, cometh thither with candles, and lamps, and arms.

⁴ Upon which Jesus, who knew all that was coming upon Him, went forth and said unto them, Whom do ye seek? They answered Him, Jesus the Nazarene.

⁵ Jesus saith unto them, I am He. And Judas that betrayed Him, was standing with them. ⁶ Now as soon as He said unto them, I am He, they went backwards and fell to the ground.

⁷ Then He asked them again, Whom do ye seek?

⁸ And they said, Jesus the Nazarene. Jesus answered, I have told you that I am He: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way: ⁹ That the word might be fulfilled which He had spoken, "Of those, whom Thou hast given me, I have lost none."

¹⁰ Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

¹¹ But Jesus said to Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
