Matthew 27:27-31 - Jesus Is Mocked

²⁷ Then the soldiers of the governor, taking Jesus into the Praetorium, gathered to Him the whole band. ²⁸ And, having stripped Him, they put on Him a scarlet robe; ²⁹ and, having platted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand; and, kneeling before Him, they mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" ³⁰ And, having spit on Him, they took the reed, and smote Him on the head; ³¹ and, when they mocked Him, they took off the robe from Him, and put on His own garments, and led Him away to crucify Him.

¹⁶ And the soldiers led Him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they call together the whole band. ¹⁷ And they clothe Him with purple; and, having platted a crown of thorns, they put it on Him. ¹⁸ And they began to salute Him, "Hail King of the Jews!" ¹⁹ And they were smiting His head with a reed, and kept spitting on Him; and, bowing their knees, they were worshiping Him! ²⁰ And, when they mocked Him, they took from Him the purple, and put on Him His own garments. And they lead Him out to crucify Him.

¹⁶ that I should be a minister of Jesus Christ to the gentiles, ministering the Gospel of God, that the offering up of the gentiles may become acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. ¹⁷ I have, therefore, my glorying in Christ Jesus as to the things pertaining to God. ¹⁸ For I will venture to speak only of the things which God wrought through me for the obedience of the gentiles, by word and deed, ¹⁹ in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Holy Spirit; so that from Jerusalem and around as far as Illyricum, I have fully dispensed the Gospel of Christ; ²⁰ and, making it my aim so to proclaim the Gospel??ot where Christ was already named??hat I might not build upon another's foundation;
