Matthew 27:57-61 - Jesus Is Buried

Matthew 27:57-61

57 And, evening having come, there came a rich man from Arimathaea, whose name was Joseph, who also himself was a disciple of Jesus. 58 This man, going to Pilate, asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given up. 59 And, taking the body, Joseph wrapped it in clean linen, 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he hewed out in the rock; and, having rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, he went away. 61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.

Mark 15:42-47

42 And, evening having already come, since it was the Preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, 43 there came Joseph of Arimathaea, an honorable councillor; who also himself was looking for the Kingdom of God; and boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. 44 And Pilate wondered, if He had already died; and, calling to him the centurion, he asked him, whether He were already dead. 45 And, having learned it from the centurion, he granted the Corpse to Joseph. 46 And he, having brought linen cloth, and having taken Him down, wrapped Him in the linen cloth, and laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out of a rock; and he rolled a stone against the door of the tomb. 47 And Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of Joses, beheld where He was laid.

Luke 23:50-56

50 And, behold, a man, Joseph by name, who was a councillor, a good and righteous man 51 (the same had not consented to their plan and deed), from Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, who was waiting for the Kingdom of God: 52 the same, going to Pilate, asked for the body of Jesus. 53 And, taking it down, he wrapped it in fine linen, and placed Him in a tomb, hewn in a stone, where no one was yet laid. 54 And it was a day of Preparation, and a sabbath was approaching. 55 And the women who had accompanied Him out of Galilee, following after, beheld the tomb, and how His body was laid. 56 And, returning, they prepared spices and perfumes; and, on the sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

John 19:38-42

38 And after these things Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly through fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. He came, therefore, and took away His body. 39 And there came also Nicodemus, he who at the first came to Him by night, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. 40 So they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had yet been laid. 42 There, therefore, on account of the Preparation of the Jews (because the tomb was near), they laid Jesus.
