John 11:28-37 - Jesus Weeps
And when she had said this, she went away, and called Mary her sister, telling her privately, The Master is coming and calleth for thee.
As soon as she heard it, she gets up with all speed and comes to Him. 30 For Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in the place where Martha met Him. 31 The Jews therefore that were with her in the house to comfort her, seeing Mary that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She is going to the grave to weep there.
Then Mary, when she came where Jesus was and saw Him, fell down at his feet, saying unto Him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
Jesus therefore, when He saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping, that came with her, groaned in spirit and was troubled. 34 And He said, Where have ye laid him?
They say unto Him, Lord, come and see: and Jesus wept.
The Jews therefore said, Behold, how he loved him! 37 but some of them said, Could not He, who opened the eyes of the blind, have caused also that this man should not have died?
