John 12:1-8 - Jesus Is Anointed At Bethany

1 Jesus however, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, and whom He raised from the dead. 2 Therefore they made Him a supper there, and Martha waited at table, but Lazarus was one of them that sat down with Him. 3 And Mary taking a pound of ointment of spikenard of great value, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped them with her hair; and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

4 Therefore said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, who was about to betray Him, 5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence and given to the poor? 6 He said this, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the common purse he carried what was put into it.

7 Jesus therefore said, Let her alone, she hath reserved this as for the day of my burial. 8 For the poor ye have always with you, but me ye have not always.
