Matthew 10:34-39 - Not Peace, But A Sword Of Divisiveness
34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn a man against his father and a daughter against her mother and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, 36 and a man's enemies will be in his own household.
37 No one who loves father or mother more than he loves me is worthy of me, and no one who loves son or daughter more than he loves me is worthy of me, 38 and no one who will not take up his cross and follow me is worthy of me. 39 Whoever gains his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will gain it.
49 I have come to bring fire down to the earth, and how I wish it were kindled already! 50 I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am till it is over! 51 Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? Not peace, I tell you, but discord! 52 For from now on if there are five people in a house they will be divided three against two and two against three.
53 Father will be against son, and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."
