Matthew 10:34-39 - Not Peace, But A Sword Of Divisiveness

³⁴ "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword! ³⁵ I came to turn "a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. ³⁶ A person's enemies will include members of his own family.'

³⁷ "The one who loves his father or mother more than me isn't worthy of me, and the one who loves a son or daughter more than me isn't worthy of me. ³⁸ The one who doesn't take up his cross and follow me isn't worthy of me. ³⁹ The one who finds his life will lose it, and the one who loses his life because of me will find it."

⁴⁹ "I've come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already ablaze! ⁵⁰ I have a baptism to be baptized with, and what stress I am under until it's completed! ⁵¹ Do you think that I came to bring peace on earth? Not at all, I tell you, but rather division! ⁵² From now on, five people in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.

⁵³ They will be divided father against son, son against father, mother against daughter, daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."
