Matthew 10:34-39 - Not Peace, But A Sword Of Divisiveness

³⁴ Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth. I did not come to send peace, but a sword. ³⁵ For I have come to set a man against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. ³⁶ And a man's foes shall be those of his own household.

³⁷ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. ³⁸ And he who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. ³⁹ He who finds his life shall lose it. And he who loses his life for My sake shall find it.

⁴⁹ I have come to send fire on the earth. And what will I do if it is already kindled? ⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how I am pressed down until it is accomplished! ⁵¹ Do you suppose that I have come to give peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division. ⁵² For from now on, there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

⁵³ The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
