Matthew 10:34-39 - Not Peace, But A Sword Of Divisiveness
34 Do not think I came to bring peace on the earth. I came not to bring peace, but a sword. 35 My coming will cause a separation. A man will be against his father and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 A man's enemies will be from his own family.
37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me. He who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 Anyone who does not pick up his stake and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it. Whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
49 I came to strike fire upon the earth and what do I care if it is already kindled? 50 I have a baptism to experience and I am distressed until it is accomplished! 51 Do you think I have come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, No, instead division. 52 From now on there will be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
53 They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother in law against her daughter in law, and daughter in law against her mother in law.
