Matthew 10:34-39 - Not Peace, But A Sword Of Divisiveness

³⁴ "Think not that I came to send peace on the earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword; ³⁵ for I came to set a man at variance with his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; ³⁶ and the man's foes will be those of his own house-hold.

³⁷ "He that loves father or mother more than Me, is not worthy of Me; and he that loves son or daughter more than Me, is not worthy of Me. ³⁸ And whosoever does not take up his cross, and follow Me, is not worthy of Me. ³⁹ "He that finds his life shall lose it; and he that loses his life for My sake shall find it.

⁴⁹ "I came to cast fire on the earth; and what wish I, if it were already kindled? ⁵⁰ But I have an immersion to be immersed with; and how am I constrained until it be accomplished! ⁵¹ Think ye that I came to give peace in the earth? I tell you, nay, but rather division. ⁵² For from this time forth five in one house will be divided, three against two, and two against three;

⁵³ they will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against the mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against the mother-in-law."
