Matthew 10:16-25 - Persecution Of Disciples Predicted

¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. ¹⁷ But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in theirs synagogues they will scourge you; ¹⁸ yea and before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak. ²⁰ For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you.

²¹ And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. ²² And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. ²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. ²⁴ A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord. ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household!

⁹ Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many stumble, and shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another. ¹¹ And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray. ¹² And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold. ¹³ But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. ¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come.

⁹ But take ye heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in synagogues shall ye be beaten; and before governors and kings shall ye stand for my sake, for a testimony unto them. ¹⁰ And the gospel must first be preached unto all the nations. ¹¹ And when they lead you to judgment , and deliver you up, be not anxious beforehand what ye shall speak: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye; for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit. ¹² And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child; and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. ¹³ And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.

¹² But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name's sake. ¹³ It shall turn out unto you for a testimony. ¹⁴ Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer: ¹⁵ for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay. ¹⁶ But ye shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and'some of you shall they cause to be put to death. ¹⁷ And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. ¹⁸ And not a hair of your head shall perish. ¹⁹ In your patience ye shall win your souls.

¹ These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be caused to stumble. ² They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God. ³ And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father, nor me. ⁴ But these things have I spoken unto you, that when their hour is come, ye may remember them, how that I told you. And these things I said not unto you from the beginning, because I was with you.
