Matthew 26:69-75 - Peter Denies Jesus Three Times

Matthew 26:69-75

69 Now Peter was sitting without in the hall, and one of the maids came to him and said, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee:

70 but he denied it before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

71 And he went out into the porch; after which another maid saw him, and said to them that were there, This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth:

72 and he denied a second time, and that with an oath, saying, I know not the man. And a little after, they that stood by came to Peter and said,

73 Verily thou also art one of them, for thy speech discovers thee:

74 then he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew. 75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who had said to him, before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Mark 14:66-72

66 And Peter being in the hall below, there came one of the maid-servants of the high priest; 67 and when she saw Peter as he was warming himself, she looked earnestly upon him and said, Thou also wast with Jesus the Nazarene:

68 but he denied it, saying, I do not know Him, nor do I understand what thou meanest. And he went out into the porch, and the cock crew.

69 And the maid seeing him again said to them that stood by, This is one of them: and he denied it again.

70 And a little after, they that stood by, said to Peter again, Thou art certainly one of them: for thou art a Galilean, and thy speech is like theirs.

71 But he began to curse and swear saying, I do not know this man of whom ye speak: And the cock crowed a second time.

72 Then Peter called to mind the word which Jesus had said to him, Before the cock crow twice thou wilt deny me thrice. And he covered his face and wept.
