Proverbs 1:1-7 - Prologue
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David king of Israel: 2 To learn wisdom, instruction, understanding, prudence, 3 righteousness, judgment and equity. 4 That the very babes might have wit, and that young men might have knowledge and understanding. 5 By hearing, the wise man shall come by more wisdom: 6 and he that is endued with understanding shall obtain wit to perceive a parable, and the interpretation thereof; the words of the wise, and the dark speeches of the same.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
1 These are the words of the Preacher, the son of David, king of Jerusalem.
1 That which was from the beginning, declare we unto you; which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the word of life. 2 For the life appeared: and we have seen, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the father, and appeared unto us. 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye may have fellowship with us, and that our fellowship may be with the father, and his son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write unto you, that your joy may be full.
1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, for to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass. And he sent and showed by his angel unto his servant John, 2 which bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. 3 Happy is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of the prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein. For the time is at hand.
