Matthew 4:12-17 - Public Ministry In Galilee

¹² Now when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. ¹³ He left Nazareth, and settled in Capernaum-by-the-Lake, near the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali, ¹⁴ in order that these words spoken through Isaiah the prophet, might be fulfilled:

¹⁵ Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali; The road by the Lake; the country beyond Jordan; Galilee of the Gentiles! ¹⁶ The people who were dwelling in darkness Have seen a great light; And on those who were dwelling in the land of the shadows of death Light has dawned.

¹⁷ From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near."

¹⁴ After John had been thrown into prison Jesus came into Galilee preaching the gospel of God. ¹⁵ "The time is now come," he said, "and the kingdom of God is near! Repent and believe the gospel."

¹⁴ Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and his fame spread throughout all the surrounding country, ¹⁵ and he began to teach in their synagogues, and was glorified by all.
