Matthew 16:24-28 - Taking Up One's Cross To Follow Jesus

Matthew 16:24-28

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any one chooseth to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whoever chooseth to save his life will lose it; and whoever shall lose his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will a man be profited, if be gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give as an exchange for his life? 27 For the Son of man is to come in the glory of his Father, with his angels; and then will he render to every one according to his works. 28 Truly do I say to you, There are some of those standing here who will not taste of death, till they have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Mark 8:34-Mark 9:1

34 And calling the multitude to him with his disciples also, he said to them, Whoever chooseth to follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 35 For whoever chooseth to save his life, will lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for the sake of me and of the glad tidings, will save it. 36 For what doth it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? 37 For what can a man give as an exchange for his life? 38 For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will also the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

1 And he said to them, Truly do I say to you, There are some of those standing here who will not taste of death, till they have seen that the kingdom of God hath come with power.

Luke 9:23-27

23 And he said to all, If any one chooseth to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whoever chooseth to save his life, will lose it; and whoever loseth his life for my sake, he will save it. 25 For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit himself? 26 For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of man be ashamed, when be cometh in his glory, and that of his Father, and of the holy angels. 27 And I tell you in truth, that there are some of those standing here who will not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God.
