1 Thessalonians 1:2-10 - Thanksgiving For The Thessalonian Believers

1 Thessalonians 1:2-10

2 We give thanks to God for you always, making mention of you in our prayers, 3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father, 4 knowing, beloved brothers, your election of God. 5 For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake. 6 And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, welcoming the Word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit, 7 so that you were examples to all who believe in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 For from you the Word of the Lord sounded out, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to speak anything. 9 For they themselves witness what kind of entrance we had to you, even how you turned from idols to God in order to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from Heaven (whom He raised from the dead), Jesus, who delivered us from the wrath to come.

2 Thessalonians 1:3-12

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, my brothers, as it is right, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each one of you abounds toward one another; 4 so much so that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God, for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations which you endure. 5 For this is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God for which you also suffer, 6 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay tribulation to those who trouble you, 7 and to give rest with us to you who are troubled, at the revealing of the Lord Jesus from Heaven with the angels of His power, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, 9 who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He shall come to be glorified in His saints and to be admired in all those who believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that Day. 11 Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of the calling and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, 12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
