John 4:27-38 - The Disciples And The Harvest

His disciples came and wondered why he talked with the woman. Yet no one asked: What are you looking for? Why did you talk to her?

The woman left her water pot and went to the city. She spoke to the men. 29 Come see a man who told me everything I have ever done. Could this be the Christ? 30 They left the city to see him.

In the meantime his disciples urged him to eat.

He said: I have food to eat that you do not know about.

So the disciples said to each other: Has any man brought him something to eat?

Jesus said: My food is to do the will of him that sent me. To finish his work! 35 Do you say there are four months until the harvest comes? I say to you lift up your eyes and look on the fields. They are already white for harvest. 36 He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for life eternal. Both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 That saying is true. One sows and another reaps. 38 I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Other men labored and you entered into their labors.
