Mark 3:13-19 - The Selection Of The Twelve Apostles

Mark 3:13-19

13 He went up on the mountain and invited anyone who wanted to go with him. 14 He appointed twelve to be with him and he sent them out to preach. 15 He gave them authority to cast out demons.

16 The twelve included Simon whom he surnamed Peter, 17 James the son of Zebedee, John the brother of James surnamed Boanerges, which is, Sons of thunder: 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananaean. 19 Also present was Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. Then he went into a house.

Luke 6:12-16

12 He went to the mountain to pray and he continued all night in prayer to God. 13 The next day he called his disciples to choose from them twelve, whom he named apostles (ambassadors) (messengers):

14 Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip and Bartholomew, 15 and Matthew and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealous one, 16 And finally there was Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
