Mark 3:13-19 - The Selection Of The Twelve Apostles

¹³ He went up on the mountain and invited anyone who wanted to go with him. ¹⁴ He appointed twelve to be with him and he sent them out to preach. ¹⁵ He gave them authority to cast out demons.

¹⁶ The twelve included Simon whom he surnamed Peter, ¹⁷ James the son of Zebedee, John the brother of James surnamed Boanerges, which is, Sons of thunder: ¹⁸ Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananaean. ¹⁹ Also present was Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. Then he went into a house.

¹² He went to the mountain to pray and he continued all night in prayer to God. ¹³ The next day he called his disciples to choose from them twelve, whom he named apostles (ambassadors) (messengers):

¹⁴ Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip and Bartholomew, ¹⁵ and Matthew and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealous one, ¹⁶ And finally there was Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
