Matthew 10:1-15 - The Twelve Commissioned And Sent Out

¹ And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness. ² The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; ³ Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; ⁴ Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them: "Do not go among the Gentiles, or enter any town of the Samaritans. ⁶ But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. ⁷ And preach as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' ⁸ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. ⁹ Take no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your belts, ¹⁰ nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff; for the worker is worthy of his food.

¹¹ Now whatever village or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there until you go out. ¹² As you enter the house, give it your greeting. ¹³ And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. ¹⁴ And if any one will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town. ¹⁵ Truly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.

⁷ And he called to him the twelve, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. ⁸ He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staffno bag, no bread, no money in their belts ⁹ but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics. ¹⁰ And he said to them, "Where you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place. ¹¹ And if any place will not receive you and they refuse to hear you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet for a testimony against them."

¹² So they went out and preached that people should repent. ¹³ And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them.

¹ Then he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. ² And he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

³ And he said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not have two tunics. ⁴ Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. ⁵ And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them." ⁶ So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.
