Matthew 10:1-15 - The Twelve Commissioned And Sent Out

Matthew 10:1-15

1 And he called to himself his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness. 2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these. The first, Simon, who is called Peter; and Andrew his brother; and James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

5 Jesus sent these twelve out, and commanded them, saying, "Do not go among the Gentiles, and do not enter into any city of the Samaritans. 6 Rather, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as you go, proclaim, saying, 'The Kingdom of Heaven is near.' 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. 9 Do not take any gold, nor silver, nor brass in your money belts. 10 Take no bag for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food.

11 And into whatever city or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy; and stay there until you go on. 12 And as you enter into the household, greet it. 13 And if the household is worthy, let your peace come on it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And whoever does not receive you, nor hear your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake off the dust from your feet. 15 Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

Mark 6:7-13

7 And he called to himself the twelve, and began to send them out two by two; and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits. 8 And he commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only: no bread, no wallet, no money in their purse, 9 but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics. 10 And he said to them, "Wherever you enter into a house, stay there until you depart from there. 11 Whoever will not receive you nor hear you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony against them."

12 So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent. 13 They cast out many demons, and anointed many with oil who were sick, and healed them.

Luke 9:1-6

1 He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. 2 He sent them forth to proclaim the Kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

3 He said to them, "Take nothing for your journey?neither staffs, nor wallet, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats apiece. 4 Into whatever house you enter, stay there, and depart from there. 5 As many as do not receive you, when you depart from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them." 6 They departed, and went throughout the villages, proclaiming the Good News, and healing everywhere.
